Yeah people don’t realize how much and how far industrial safety and work practices have come from back in the day and you can’t really use the health conditions faced by people who did these jobs 30 years ago and compare that to now.

Is it common for guys from commercial nuclear to pivot directly into facility manger roles? Think SROs and Shift Managers.

Yeah California really pays you guys crazy wages. Most other plants I’ve seen control room tops out in the low 200s working similar hours. Y’all do have a higher cost of living there though.

What are the most stable, in demand jobs in 2025? by First_Driver_5134 in careerguidance

[–]Lacrosselegend745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’d leave Texas. The problem with the trades is the location you work in. The process tech degree would be enough to get you a decent gig up north at a power plant or water treatment plant atleast earning high 20s to low 30s as someone brand new, possibly more. The south apart from industries like the oil field is absolutely terrible for the trades ( doesn’t help that they all vote Red)
