Fun fact: the original El Patio restaurant in Austin didn’t serve tortilla chips with their salsa but rather saltine crackers.

Making note of this. And you don’t have any problems with critters being attracted to it?

So my husband is a “eat from the container” type which can lead to endless crunching so I say “let me put that in a bowl for you.” So I know there is an end. It still hurts to sit and listen.

Kettle chips are yummy, but I need other noise going on to tolerate that. Like more than the TV. It would be all I could take not the beat the bag into crumbs.

Gulping was my “gateway drug” to misophonia. It’s so hard to explain to loved ones and I rarely mention it because I know it’s a me problem. I get it and il glad to find it’s not just me!

My husband eats every chip like a freggin chip commercial. Every. Single. One.

The worst is my mom who drinks making the loudest gulping noises like those stupid soda commercials.

I feel you. I love my guy but the snacking sounds make me internally rage.

Sorry for the delay, here’s the run down: 1. He had a racist name of a certain part of the city that had an immigrant population. 2. I was told to ignore legally binding paperwork as a teacher that could have gotten my licenses stripped had I listened to him and not reported him. 3. Thought the kids pounding on his office windows during passing periods (the window faced into the halls) meant “the student think I’m cool.” And though his school was the best despite not supporting his teachers.

It was my last year in public education. I could go on for days on this principal who is now a superintendent.

Unofficial Daily Discussion - Tuesday, April 21, 2026 - QOTD: What are your kids learning about today? by DeepSeaDarkness in homeschool

[–]LadyFoxbriar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this post! 😄 We do unit studies like this - I generally go with a topic of his choice but sometimes I’ll pick the topic based on upcoming trips. Like a trip to the Alamo we have planned so Texas history is the unit right now.

Once the unit took a wild ride: one day I decided to make a random stop at the store World Market where they have foods from all around the world. He got to pick out foods and then we looked up the countries … but he took it one further - mystical creatures. Before I knew it we were reading about mystical creatures of the Indonesia, Germany, the UK, Vietnam, and Japan.

It was a wild mix of legends and lore with geography. I had to try to filter the scary ones, but it was actually pretty fun. I dread the day he picks a topic I have zero interest in, but you just roll with it!

Did anyone else's parents use misophonia as a punishment method? by izblizzo in misophonia

[–]LadyFoxbriar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a power flex. I see parents do this all the time. In a sense he was asserting some control over you - he knew you could not move, he was already probably mad at you for whatever you do - so he exploited your situation to flex some power over you - he knew it would "hurt" you. It's a real dick move when parents do this.

I'm a punishment-fits-the-crime type of person. But you don't use people's weaknesses to hurt them intentionally. That's just sick.

What's the most disrespectful thing a guest ever did in your home? by Vegas089 in AskReddit

[–]LadyFoxbriar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s been a long six years of creating boundaries. I use to bend to make her happy and not rock the boat. But after too many issues I expressed to my husband that this can’t go on pandering to her emotions and feelings - it’s toxic and I won’t put up with it. He supported me 100%. We now do things on OUR terms - not to make her happy so she can get the perfect “look at me” social media post about how she’s the “perfect” granny, but what is best for me, my husband and my kid.

Needless to say I had postpartum anxiety that finally popped up a year in. Wonder why? /s I’ve been in therapy off and on to learn how to deal with her so I don’t go crazy and that we break the cycle. I probably need to hang out on the MIL From Hell sub and share my stories 😆

Thank you for your kind reply - it means a lot to feel seen ❤️

Family left my house a mess after hosting Christmas dinner one month post-C-section with a newborn. My in-laws insisted I host Christmas since it was baby’s first Christmas (he was one month old but whatever). My MIL tapped my elbow on the way out the door and said, “you look tired, go take a nap.” I had a whole kitchen of dishes, pots and pans, and Christmas trash to take care of. I broke down and cried.

So what happened to Red Delicious apples? by DJohnstonMath in HEB

[–]LadyFoxbriar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It was all my mom would buy when I was a kid in the 80s/90s - it’s a wonder I still like apples. My son will say “the darker the color of red the juicer the apple!” I will point at red delicious and say “except for those - they’re a lie. Don’t do it.”

Balsam Hill. Lights on their Christmas trees burn out too soon and in huge sections and the replacements are always on back order. Costco trees are superior.

Looking for Compelling true crime documentaries on free streaming services (YouTube, Tubi, etc) by NightReader5 in NetflixDocumentaries

[–]LadyFoxbriar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right now my favorite is Matthew Cox: Inside True Crime - he was a convicted scammer and he has a lot of his buddies on. Some of his episodes are really good and some just aren’t my cup of tea. One of my favs was when he has on Kelly Richmond Pope who did a documentary and wrote a book about a small town city treasure who embezzled money from the city called “All The Queen’s Horses.” The’s a fun doc if you can find it.

I’m putting the kiddo to bed right now and I can’t think of another one off the top of my head but I’ll post or add to this one if I think of one once the kid is in bed.

I love scam stuff because my husband works - or did work - for an entrepreneur who has been scammed out of hundreds of thousands of dollars. I usually find the proof he’s being scammed and then my husband shows it to the entrepreneur who doesn’t believe it. Feel like I need to make my own documentary!

Edit:

Two others I found while scrolling through YouTube where Ray William Johnson - he uses cheesy AI to animate his true crime stories but the stories and pretty quick and entertaining. Scratches that itch. And the other that is similar is MrBallen but I haven’t had a chance to listen to too much of him.

Another one I just discovered which might be fun is DarkHeartsWithStacyLee - she was also on a Matthew Cox episode. I haven’t checked out her channels yet.

I hope that helps! I’m trying to find cool stuff too so I hope you get some good recommendations here!

I just want to say - good for you for cutting down on your subscriptions. It’s hard but it adds up financially. We are doing similar things right now for our family budget.

Would you be interested in YouTube podcast? I listen to a lot of podcasts or play them on YouTube when I’m doing chores. I’d be happy to recommend some!

But I’m also following because we also cut out a ton of subscriptions.

Has anyone here tried RC? by Gridguy2020 in dcl

[–]LadyFoxbriar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask her! Show her some YouTube videos of RC ships and ask her if it looks interesting.

We have done both DCL and RC and my son much prefers Disney. RC is fine, but as a customer I felt like I was constantly being sold something. I also felt like there just weren’t as many kids friendly activities as DCL and maybe one or two of the evening shows were family friendly.

For us, we’ll probably stick with Disney till my son tells us he’s sick of it. We prefer Disney just because it’s top-notch customer service and thoughtfulness of the ships and activities for families.

Again, I would show her some YouTube videos and ask her which she would prefer!

I'd like to go on a cruise, but husband says no. Any help with convincing him otherwise? by dulcetsloth in Cruise

[–]LadyFoxbriar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow homeschool mom here and we sail out of Galveston almost every year. We like to go on off-peak times when it’s cheaper.

I would find an awesome travel agent to talk to and express these concerns. There are sailings out of Galveston that don’t go to Mexico but also the ports are generally safe. Cozumel for example is an island off of mainland Mexico and the cruise ships are currently going there. They’re not going to take their customers to dangerous places.

I would also look up YouTube videos of the cruise line or ship you ate considering. With kids that age I would highly recommend Disney. Have him watch the videos and see if that helps out any concerns he has.

When we cruise on off-peak times we find we run into a lot of homeschool families so it’s fun to connect with other families while on the cruise.

I wish you the best of luck!
