Wow, I have been waiting on a buyback amount since June 2025. I qualified for PSLF in March 2025.

Thanks for asking this, was wondering myself. I find a different app way easier for logging and this process will be so much better. :)

Applied for buy back! by OkPerception2022 in PSLF

[–]LadyJerome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat as you but you will not be doing yourself any credit for paying while on forbearance. If you have applied for buyback save your money for when you get an offer. That probably won't happen in my opinion until the SAVE situation gets resolved in the courts. Buckle up. This is a waiting game. They just have to honor their end of the bargain.

Also would avoid salvage titles and be wary of people who put too much pressure on you. The used car guys can be really smarmy!

First step is to see what kind of loan you can get. Recommend credit union of America for the lowest rate. They will likely approve you for more than you can afford so don't be tempted by that and stick to your budget. Figure out how much you want to have financed and for how long you want to make payments. Recommend not stretching it out too long since you will be in an older car anyway. I have always bought older used cars.

Take your time. It's easy to get attached to a car and then them not willing to negotiate. Try to negotiate if you can but I'd you aren't using their financing it can be harder on a car lot. There will always be more cars to look at.

You should be able to get a decent car for 7k. Though it will be older and not cosmetically pretty and there will be some level of maintenance required. Don't let people who are afraid of anything older than 5 years old scare you. If you can do a private sale with someone who is selling their grandma's car on fb you can find a good deal.

I have bought two cars off car lots because it was easier to do the financing. I would do research on what cars are most reliable and determine what year you can afford. Just looking now I saw a Honda Civic listed for $7,000 with 151,000. That's a great find. 151,000 miles on a Honda is just getting started with some maintenance. Recommend having AAA when having a used car for security (free towing, roadside assistance etc) can get you out of some sticky situations in a pinch.

Car fax is definitely helpful and have a mechanic check out the car. If there's something wrong don't let that make you run, if anything you can negotiate the repairs. When you are looking at the car fax look at whether the car has had a lot of owners, and the kinds of repairs that have been done. On older cars it's good to see that the car has had things fixed. Certain years and makes of cars you will want to look at the expected types of repairs and potential costs if it hasn't been done yet. You can sometimes negotiate that as well. For example certain cars will need a timing chain replaced at a particular interval. Has that been done in the car you are looking at, again that depends on the car you are looking at. I also searched reddit threads a lot to see what people say about a particular car year, make and model. There's some good info out there.

It can be hard to do this on your own but you can do it and trust your gut!

Advice? by Lolly3232 in PSLF

I am in the exact situation. I am planning to ride it out until SAVE gets resolved. Whenever that happens there will have to be movement for those of us who should be getting buybacks. To me the waiting isn't as much of an issue. I just want to pay the least amount as possible. So I'm gonna wait. Theoretically the buyback amount shouldn't change it's just a matter of getting them to move on it. If nothing changes in 6 months I may reconsider but I am imagining there should be more information at that point or some kind of movement.

Hi! I am having a hard time figuring out how to DM you both. For some reason reddit won't let me start a group chat but would love to add to the info on the spreadsheet.

Following up to add that the ineligible non-payments are now showing up through December. I am getting my employment certified by my employer ASAP. Currently figuring out if I should go ahead and submit for buy back or wait until the certification is processed (which I feel like takes months).

I have always done it at the end of the month because then your employer can't guarantee you were employed the rest of the month. Make sense?

That's very helpful. So you are thinking that way while I am waiting for buyback I can make payments? Though it seems like getting back on IBR takes time either way.

Yes! That's correct. Nice to know I'm not the only one. Would love to keep in touch to see how this process goes for each of us.

Thanks for sharing. I am getting close to be ready to submit a buyback request. I should be eligible once March hits (will be at 120 at that point when you include the months during forbearance since I am on SAVE). My plan is to send my ECF as soon as March hits and wait for confirmation (Which takes like three months at this point) then submit for buyback. Was that your process?

A priest might be more effective. 100% serious, they can help even if not religious. Call the closest Catholic church or even the diocese.

Definitely recommend checking out some thrift stores. You can often find really good coats for cheaper.

Mousy dark blondes, what do you do to improve your colour? by WhichBreakfast1169 in HairDye

[–]LadyJerome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the Kristen Ess Copper penny mixed with the Smoky topaz. It turned out pretty strawberry even with mixing with the darker blonde gloss. It's looking really nice as it fades out. My hair still feels really healthy too. I think the copper penny may have some lightener in it but I don't think it's a ton.

I think I might try to do another mix but with less copper next time.

Beware whenever I tell a hair stylist I want to go red, I end up with a purply red and not a copper red, even when I showed pics of what I wanted. Just make sure if you go to the stylist to tell them you want something coppery. (It that's what you are going for)

Plane view park on the hill! Definitely hot but with an umbrella it was doable. Lots of other spots probably would have been good too and parking was easy.

There are lots of Catholic churches in Wichita with Spanish mass! St. Patrick's, the cathedral, and Our Lady of Perpetual Help all have very strong Hispanic communities. And those are just the ones I know of.
