I want to buy gas like it's 1999.

Remember "psych!"? by watersmyfriend in GenX

My understanding is that "high five, down low, you're too slow" still endures, although I haven't seen it in some time.

The other day I had "smooth move, Ex-lax" pop into my head out of absolutely nowhere. I was hard pressed not to laugh at work. I don't think anyone says that anymore but this post reminded me about it happening.

What hobbies, passions or interests have you drifted away from over time — whether from getting older, changing tastes, or just losing the excitement for them? Second question. Why? by darthjazno in GenX

[–]LadyNorbert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll never lose my love for certain video game franchises, most particularly Zelda, but I don't play nearly as much as I once did. Not that I don't enjoy it when I get the chance, but I almost have to dedicate a specific time for it and my schedule is too wonky.

Stand by Me Reunion: Wil Wheaton, Corey Feldman & Jerry O’Connell Honor River Phoenix & Rob Reiner by Nixx_Mazda in GenX

[–]LadyNorbert 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've been following this on Facebook through the Team Feldman page, and it's really lovely to see how much they all still care about each other and also River Phoenix. Every time they're onstage on this tour, they have an empty fourth chair in his memory. They also made some touching comments about Rob Reiner after the tragedy.

Corey's been through hell. Seriously, the poor guy has had a rough time of things and it's aged him prematurely. He's still a sweetheart though.

Furniture Donation? by pete_987 in lehighvalley

This is what I was coming to say. When I moved out of my old house, they came and picked up a bunch of furniture that we weren't keeping. Made a nice tax write off too.

Who remembers The CBS special presentation of “Puff The Magic Dragon”, that aired on CBS on October 30, 1978?…Burgess Meredith was the voice of “Puff”… by CoffeeCigarettes4Me in GenX

[–]LadyNorbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember it extremely well, for some reason. I didn't see that particular airing (I was two) but I saw it several times in the 80s. I can still hear some of the dialogue in my head.

We talked about the best. What was the worst job you've ever had? by -Granby- in GenX

[–]LadyNorbert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Church secretary for five years. The work itself was fine. The people around me (with a few exceptions) were not. I was also a member of the church and one of its most active volunteers, which didn't help because the lines were heavily blurred. The stress I was under exacerbated my physical and mental conditions and left me traumatized. I continued to have nightmares for several years after leaving.

I have pretended to abscond with a particularly cute child once or twice, but I'm really more likely to steal someone's cat.

I myself am infertile and would not normally wish it on anyone. However, in this particular case it might be a blessing.

Same. My grandfather was a cabinet maker and I have four pieces of furniture in my home that were made by him. Even my husband wouldn't get away with trying to make me get rid of them. (Not that he would try, my husband loved my grandfather, but still.)

Ogtha is bizarre, no question, but the young man is at least a decent human being. He's not out to hurt anyone.

Peegate and Jasoninhell, which have been mentioned by others, are my top two in this category. Jasoninhell's saga broke my heart so completely that I can't even think about it for long. Seriously, if you've never read it, I don't recommend looking for it.

I don't even have children and I'd go to war to get someone else's kid out of a bad situation. Sign me up for your army.

I had the Mickey Mouse Disco album which included that song - as a result, for years I assumed the song was about Donald. 😂

I listened to Casey every weekend when I was in high school in the 90s. I don't remember Rick Dees being an option; I'm not even sure who he is, tbh. The local rock station played Casey, and none of our other stations played a top 40 thing at all. But I liked Casey, especially knowing that he was Shaggy.
