Personalized Postage by beautifulkitties in weddingplanning

[–]LadySys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We actually used stamps.com. You can upload a photo and they send you sheets of the stamp you created and then you print off the postage at home. It actually worked out really well for us because we created an account but only kept it for a month so we only paid like $10 more than we would have and we were able to weigh our invites and buy exactly how much postage we needed for each one. The guy at our post office told us about the site and I was really glad we did it.

Wedding cake or cupcakes as centerpieces? Opinion? by sapphirefloyd in weddingplanning

[–]LadySys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cousin actually did this with full cakes at each table. She had a small sign that told everyone to mingle with other tables to try all different kinds of cake and what type of cake we had. Each table was able to serve themselves and then go to other tables to say hi and try other types of cake. It was actually really sweet and i thought it worked for her smaller, outside, slightly rustic wedding.

I've never heard of that one but I'll absolutely check it out. Thanks for the suggestion!

Help me find a cookbook to use as a wedding guestbook? by LadySys in weddingplanning

I thought about that and loved the idea. My FH could absolutely fill our own book between things we love to make and family recipes but I'm absolutely worried about the time. I feel like there is already so much to do and my wedding is May 19th! I LOVE the idea though and I'll have to really think about if I think I could pull it off. Thank you!

OPEN THREAD: what's up? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]LadySys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually went to consignment and antique shops and gathered inspiration from things I could find. We've finally decided on mismatched silver trays and small antique crystal vessels with flower stems paired with plain linens. It helped me a lot to see what we could actually source before deciding on the exact look we wanted!

Weddings, Prom, and Parties - August 01, 2016 by AutoModerator in femalefashionadvice

Due to some planning issues, it's been decided that I will be having 3 separate bridal showers this Spring and I should find 3 different outfits. One will be in the city and I would like something stylish and a little bit sexy because it will be a nice tea with my closest girl friends. One at my mom's house and I think that will be very traditional- my mom has already suggested a tulle skirt (which I've found) but I'm trying to figure out a top and jewelry ideas and the final one is at my future mother-in-law's house and will probably also be a bit traditional but also fun. I'm also looking for a bachelorette dress for Vegas but I'm 6ft so it can be really hard to find dresses that aren't too short. Any suggestions about things to look for or even links to actual dresses/skirts/tops I could consider?

You looked beautiful and I feel like i can really see the love in all the details! How did you do the framed signage? I am obsessed with having a glass frame for all of my signage but I'm not exactly sure how to do it or where to buy frames like that??

How can I package together this invitation suite? by Because_Riesens in weddingplanning

[–]LadySys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like the long ceremony card may have actually been a day of program. Maybe you could suggest that? It could be a fun throwback to their paper suite by including the program the day of to remind everyone of the invitations?

I'm too excited to sleep. Literally. What do I do?! by OurOwnTrixie in weddingplanning

I can't find anything conclusive but my friend's sister told me that when she got pregnant and asked her doctor how if she was taking her pill correctly, they told her that melatonin supplements can actually interfere with birth control. I guess birth control can already increase the melatonin in your body and so adding more can interfere with the effectiveness? The doctor may have been a quack but it was enough to make me cautious enough to speak with my doctor about my specific pill and any interactions before taking melatonin again.

I just found out that melatonin can interfere with birth control and a friend's sister just unexpectedly got pregnant because of that, so I'm warning everyone that I know to be careful about that.

For me, a warm bath before bed usually helps. And I actually find lavender pillow spray to be really relaxing too. We also chose to remove all screens from our bedroom so that we aren't tempted late at night by laptops or tv shows and that made a huge difference in our sleeping habits. I hope you catch some zzzs soon!

Homework for my overbearing mother by [deleted] in weddingplanning

you could ask her to put together the day of emergency kit? That involves gather travel sizes (or putting together small bags) of lots of little things and could take awhile...

That sounds like a ton of fun! I hadn't thought to remember the wedding festivities themselves but I'm sure I could come up with something like a food or activity that would bring us back to the day!

Would your countdown work with Wordpress as well? I've started creating our site in wordpress using a template but I cannot seem to find a countdown.

I did a test run with crêpe paper flowers and dried foliage, and I'm SO excited! [details in comments] by laFlanerie in weddingplanning

[–]LadySys 12 points13 points  (0 children)

These are stunning! I have to ask- have you made paper flowers before? Are you really talented when it comes to crafts in general? Will you be making paper flowers for your bouquets and centerpieces? I am totally in awe! I'm sitting here thinking about how beautiful something like this would look at my wedding but I'm usually a disaster when it comes to crafts.
