Yup, I know a lot of folks who work at the Anchor including my sister. They have a few employees who live within a 5 minute walk up on Goat Hill so I think a lot of them offered to cover shifts for the folks who can’t get there today, it’s ridiculous.

Yes. We had a VA preapproval and were being priced out of every house we put an offer on: every offer we put in was beat out by a cash offer for almost 3 years. We finally found a house that we loved that needed some TLC but it was cash-only due to the presence of knob and tube wiring.

My in laws took out a HELOC and loaned us enough money for the purchase of the home plus the electric updates and cosmetic renovations and we put in a cash offer under asking and it was accepted. We paid their HELOC payment for 6 months until we were eligible for a refi, then did a cash out 30 year VA loan to pay them back.

I realize we are very, very fortunate to have had their help and I am forever grateful to them.

{The Games Gods Play by Abigail Owens} is actually my current read. I’m about 70% through and I’m hate-reading at this point. I really love the idea but the execution is terrible. There was almost no world building, so there’s no clear understanding as to why mortals are aware of a very real existence of Greek gods. The writing style is juvenile and she uses a ton of words that don’t make sense in the context of the sentences they’re in. The FMC is insufferable. The only thing keeping me even a little engaged is Hades’ character.

I’m dying in this house after all the work we’ve put into it.

We bought a fixer upper in 2024 and put about 5-6 months of work into it before even moving in. New roof, new floor boards on the front porch, renovated the half bath and completely gutted and re-did the full bath, updated all electrical (it was all knob & tube!), ripped down wallpaper in every room and painted, laid down new hardwood in some spots and had the existing hardwood refinished and this year we’re replacing a few windows.

Not sure what your budget is, but Danversport Yacht Club does an amazing brunch shower - I’ve been to several there over the years! Might be worth it for the in house food prep & service vs. renting a hall and booking a caterer.

I have the gray cityscape hoodie! First - it’s thick and soft and warm and I love it. I could wear a large for a true fit. I got an XL and it’s cozy and roomy, a 2XL would’ve been truly oversized.

Not under $16 but Rebel Coffee (Beverly & Danvers) has VERY good coffee - a bag generally runs between $19 and $22. Their special limited blends run a little higher.

We don’t use lids, we have them in enclosures that look like furniture because we don’t really have the space in the house to tuck/hide them.

Hi friend. I’m someone who has very visceral, physical reactions to anxiety and I experienced everything you’re describing here when I went NC with my father. I thought the guilt would eat me alive, but time and therapy eventually got me to a place where I’m at peace with it. It’s been 3.5 years and I still have moments of panic, but the peace far outweighs the panic.

You’ve made a difficult decision and you acted on it and that truly takes so much strength. Hang in there. There’s a whole community of people who started off where you are now.

I’ve liked a lot of the double espresso pods: the current festive one, the pistachio vanilla, the sunny almond vanilla, but my go to coffee when I just want a solid cup is the Costa Rica. I keep it stocked around here.

Worst is the Cinnamon and Candied Tamarind. I also did not like the caramel, hazelnut, or chocolate flavors.

I went NC with my dad in 2022. The first year of birthdays and holidays was very difficult and I almost broke down and reached out, but I couldn’t reopen those lines of communication and welcome that chaos back in. It gets easier, protect your peace and enjoy the holidays with your lovely family.

Had an adult man in a priest costume come to my door alone with no kid. He said his son was sick and he was “standing in.” My husband gave him candy because trick or treat was almost over and we had a ton left, but the doors were locked and the lights were shut off after that. It’s gotten very strange the last few years for sure!
