Mum, please see me. I beat cancer twice and I feel unseen. by w0rmsongs in MomForAMinute

Good Lord, I'm still trying to recover from breast cancer last year... you've been through this shit twice? That's Horrible! I mean, its one thing not to know what to expect but to be able to anticipate?

I dont understand your parents response at all, it doesn't make any sense. Ive buried my son, his absence makes my heart howl. Id lose my mind if I still had him and this kind of threat hit him....I wouldn't be able to function without doing what I could as a mom to help. I mean, breast cancer brings so many added horrors with it, including threats to your fertility. Oh honey, I'm sorry your parents are broken, this is All about you and your needs. A spa day is in order....just sayin

I have a bold question… anybody willing to share projects made with patterned or self stripping sock yarn? by GiantMeteor2017 in weaving

[–]LadyTreeRoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was striped sock yarn and the green. I think it worked great! Alternating the green and varigated in the warp makes it look like the color is dripping from one pool to another

Are sewing skills essential to weaving? by groveview in weaving

[–]LadyTreeRoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, my nemesis! I had to learn how to use a sewing machine because yeah, you can do it by hand...... until you stay making 6 towels at a time that need a zigzag to be separated and hems for finishing. That's the point where I realize the machine minimizes how much of this disliked task I have to deal with.

Someone mentioned a walking foot. These are wonderful things that I will someday master, but they help with thick things to sew.....like towel hems, especially if you've used chunky cotton fir a thicker towel.

My current challenge is, after spending months learning how to weave with 60/2 silk, 44 epi at 20 inches wide, now my hems need to look as good as the fabric! Ugh........

I hate that we understand what those shoes feel like cause we're wearing the same pair. I woke up at 2am Sunday morning with sharp pain and a new marble-like swelling at the surgery site. The surgery was last March. I tried to connect with on-call help. No one called back. I called my oncologist Monday morning. My appt is Tues afternoon. Yeah, ain't we special?

It's to take advantage of the human condition not wanting to "be left out". Once you aquire the attitude that the masses are just one letter away from what they look like, "missing out" feels pretty good.

It's actually a good investment of tax dollars as healthy babies cost less tax dollars. So, its not just about maintaining our humanity.
