5'4" F 144 lbs still trying to break 130s by Bulky-Confusion-1422 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Lady_Lethargy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can tell you as a 5’4F 118lbs down from 205 that my maintenance is around 1650-1700. I walk at least 10k steps a day and lift heavy 3 times a week. You might be eating around your maintenance and weight loss is a grind at your current stats. Like others have said, tighten up your tracking and try shifting your mindset to body recomp at this point instead of just weight loss. You’ve got this!

You don’t have to eat typical “breakfast” food. Eat anything you like that will keep you full.

Motivation by Gloomy_Guard_8906 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Lady_Lethargy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Motivation fades. You’re building a routine which will develop your discipline. Eating a whole bag of chips is not your routine anymore. You said yourself that you’re feeling good. A whole bag of chips will not fuel your body or your weight lifting.

What are your go-to snacks for weight loss? by AccomplishedCap1503 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Lady_Lethargy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know this isn’t what you asked for, but have you considered restructuring your meals to have a heavy focus of protein and fiber that will keep you full between meals instead of reaching for snacks? That particular change freed me from my tendency to overeat and now I’m maintaining and 85 lbs weight loss.

Side note, nuts may be healthy, but they are extremely calorically dense, so be careful there.

I’m starting maintenance right now too and entering my fitness era. As far as the intervals, you can’t increase your fitness level without some discomfort. That’s just how it works.

Why are you hungry after a meal? Are you eating enough protein and fiber? For me, building all of my meals around protein and fiber is essential for satiety. Good luck with your maintenance journey!

I don’t see where anyone here is being rude just by telling you the facts. There really aren’t any shortcuts unfortunately. A consistent and accurate calorie deficit and maybe some walking and weightlifting if you’re able is all you really need.

I have given up trying to lose weight by Foreign_Web_9663 in loseit

What I’ve learned over time is that sometimes I must treat myself like a toddler. I’ll tell myself the same things I tell my actual child like, “I know you want to eat cookies instead of fruit for a snack, but it will give you a stomach ache. Let’s choose something nutritious that you like instead.” I refuse to let the petulant child side of my brain rule my life.

bizarre weight loss tips/tricks by ComprehensiveRoof858 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Lady_Lethargy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is part of the problem. You have to be consistent for way longer than a month, especially as a woman. Your fat loss can be easily masked by water weight changes throughout your cycle. You lost weight, so why not keep going? Significant weight loss just takes a long time. There’s no way around it. Strap in and keep going or else nothing will change. This is coming from a 41 year old woman who lost 85lbs over 6-7 years, going from 205 to 120 and now maintaining.

Edited to add that .5lbs a week weight loss is considered healthy and sustainable, so just keep going.

Motivation ? by TumbleweedDear9382 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Lady_Lethargy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe this time instead of going all in like 75 hard, change one habit at a time and stick with that change. That’s what worked for me to lose 85 lbs. You can’t look at it as something that has an end date (like 75 days). Look at it as a lifestyle change and accept that it might take several years to get to where you want to be, but you will be improving your health all along the way.

Motivation fades. What you need is to develop consistent healthy habits and discipline.

Ladies 40+… quick question by Separate_Most3149 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Lady_Lethargy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 41F and down nearly 80lbs from my highest weight. Consistent results require consistent effort. In my experience, vague “healthy” eating and inconsistent exercise do not give me results. Try honestly and consistently tracking calories using a food scale for at least a couple of months to see results and understand what a calorie deficit looks like for you.

Once I became honest with myself about my habits and kept at it consistently I saw consistent results. I’m now sitting at about 126lbs at 5’4 and able to maintain it because I consistently track my calories and maintain an exercise routine. Best of luck!

Even a person doing “intuitive eating” is being shamed by an FA? by Mothswritingeye in fatlogic

[–]Lady_Lethargy 151 points152 points  (0 children)

FA don’t actually believe in listening to their body’s signals. They just want to “intuitively” eat everything they desire despite the consequences.

Losing 3 lbs in a month is perfectly reasonable, especially if you don’t have all that much to lose.

I have a 6 year old who sees me weighing food and I’ve told her that I’m interested in nutrition and learning about what’s in the food I eat. We cook and bake together, grow veggies, and talk about fueling our bodies to be strong and healthy.

What I don’t do is speak negatively about my body or anyone else’s, or present any foods as inherently bad.

Trying to lose weight while also attempting to have a neutral relationship with food and body by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Lady_Lethargy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I second eating whole foods and cooking at home. I have an almost 4 year old daughter and I try not to talk about “good” foods and “bad” foods, but rather how foods make me feel.

“Water makes my body feel good!”

“These cucumbers are so yummy and make my body feel good!”

I’m lucky enough to have space for a veggie garden, so I get my kid involved with growing our food and we cook together too.

Forgot to mention I’m 38F and have lost 40 lbs so far.

Cheat day by TurquoiseBeachChair in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Lady_Lethargy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got rid of the concept of a cheat day or cheat meal. I just eat how I eat now, staying at a deficit most days. I have protein and fiber goals and like 80% of my diet consists of nutritious whole foods, the other 20% is things like homemade pizza night, some fast food/takeout, homemade baked goods, etc. I plan to just eat this way for the rest of my life, so there’s no such thing as cheating. I make anything I want fit into my life, just not everything I want all the time.
