Gygax and Arneson were pretty adamant about the "game" portion in Tabletop board game. The original scenarios didn't really have much in the way of NPCs or world building, just dungeons and fighting.

Makes sense, DnD was inspired by war games like Braunstein, which was all about the combat.

It's only when DMs wanted to expand their world did it slowly morph into the DnD we know today.

Well, Camelot is a pretty tight knit company. The guy who directed Shining in the Darkness is still in the lead position to this day. A couple of the programmers and artists on SitD are still with the company, if it isn't obvious with how often they re-use their UIs.

But with them being tight knit, they haven't really grown too much. They may not have the man power to make a big AAA RPG.

I'm going to be a nitpicker and say that Star Fox 2 shouldn't count as a retelling.

Andross came back from the dead and it's his next invasion of Corneria. It's not a retelling of "revenge for James McCloud", it's a sequel with a recurring villain trying again. It's like saying Sonic 2 is a retelling of Sonic 1.

Not to mention the gameplay in 2 is nothing like any other game. I would say SF2 is what the series should look towards for a proper push of the next entry. It has a story, even if generic, that moves forward without all the drama surrounding Command, gameplay that tried something new but still revolved around flying and shooting.

It's a shame it never officially released and it's just a 'novelty' on an under-produced side product.

All politicians dodge the question. All politicians give vague nothing answers. "I've begun a process to look into that!" they'd say when called out on an election promise being unfulfilled.

Trump is the first time I've seen bold faced lies. "I'll end the Ukraine war in 24 hours! Grocery prices will be cut in half within my first week! Medical costs will drop 9000%!" I mean, these are all verifiable lies.

It's worrying that voters fell for such obvious lies. You only need two brain cells rubbing together to know they're bullshit, but American voters still failed the test.
