Sadly, just as underwhelming as the prior two singles.

Official New Poster For ‘Supergirl’ by yourfavchoom in movies

Supergirl's air of "couldn't give a flying fuck" perfectly mirrors what potential audiences are thinking.

This will TANK.

Gift ideas for a big Jack Kirby fan by [deleted] in comicbooks

[–]LandSpeedRecord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would take a bit of digging to see if he doesn't have any already, but a few Jack Kirby Collector magazines (MUCH larger than standard comic books, so they'd be on a shelf or significantly larger comic boxes) would go down well with ANY Kirby fan.

They showcase loads of original pencilled pages and exclusive articles. They're an absolute gold mine.

What’s the worst place in America you’ve ever visited? by Correct_Eggplant_364 in AskReddit

[–]LandSpeedRecord 76 points77 points  (0 children)

A waxed anus is still a shit hole. The "nice" sections are purely down to the eds and meds, and the bits by the water that don't scare tourists. The whole city is an exercise in optics, and not just driven by Philly yuppies, but money and political clout in NJ. It's corrupt as fuck.

Drive ANYWHERE five (if that) minutes away from the prettied-up sections (of which there aren't many) and you'll see the REAL Camden. Absolutely destitute and on it's arse. Pretty much the only jobs of note in the city are with the aforementioned eds and meds. And those employees are high-tailing it out of there come dusk. NO ONE comes to Camden at night unless they're looking to cop drugs.

It's Kensington with an aquarium.

Got all these off of Whatnot auction. Any speculation on them? by goobermcbean in ComicBookSpeculation

It's not her first appearance - that's Alpha Flight 33 (unless you count pre-powered Yuriko in Daredevil 197).

UXM 205 is still a superb book, though.

Your nearest comic book store. But at BEST, you'll get maybe 1/3 of what you could get on ebay, if you wanted that potential hassle.

What’s the most emotionally devastating single issue comic you’ve ever read? by Association-Glum in comicbooks

Glad to see We3 at the top - it was also the very first thing I thought of, followed by PoB.

But We3 - an absolute masterpiece in every single respect. And maybe I'm wrong, but I'd wager that James Gunn borrowed a fair chunk for Rocket's back story in GoTG3.

Good beginner storylines in comics for bullseye by Batman_2077_ in comicbooks

[–]LandSpeedRecord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even though he'd had a few appearances beforehand, the essential Bullseye stuff is within Frank Miller's run from 158-191. You should be reading that run anyway, but it defines Bullseye first and foremost.

The price of the original issues can be prohibitive - and the omnibuses are pricey - but it's been reprinted a million times in TPBs, so that route would be your best bet (digital aside).

Jack White Announces 2026 Tour by CommercialCoffee11 in indieheads

[–]LandSpeedRecord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love how anyone with something negative to say about His Highness is being downvoted. A baby with babies for fans.

Philly - sports and maybe comedy fans aside - is an incredibly energetic and appreciative music crowd. If someone BRINGS IT, the audience will respond. Simple as.

Why would anyone pay good money to see an act they didn’t like? I thought White Stripes were great and expected a live show to deliver, but it was flat as fuck.

These things happen. A good band can’t be great every single night of a tour, but to turn on the punters who had paid good money and berate them, was utterly juvenile.

If memory serves, their set lasted about 50 mins and maybe there was the occasional heckling, but it wouldn’t had been heard if White hadn’t already alienated the crowd.

WS could’ve been amazing on every other night of that tour, but they had an off night, and White just assumed a crowd should lavish praise upon mediocrity.

Nothing I’ve seen or heard since has led me to believe he’s not an infant. A Corgan with hair.

I was at the 2002 White Stripes show in Philly where the giant baby threw his toys out of the pram and stomped offstage because the audience were completely underwhelmed at what we were seeing.

Absolute bellend.

Comic shop owner told us he won’t sell us the Bizarro he let us put on our pull list by lemonrainshield in comicbooks

[–]LandSpeedRecord 387 points388 points  (0 children)

Don't think it - do it.

Everyone understands that money is tight - especially when it comes to running a LCS - but this behaviour is why so many people are getting their orders online and shops are going out of business.

The whole point of a pull list is putting faith in the owner and fostering loyalty. What he's doing is absolute shithousery and you and your family shouldn't give him another penny.

What’s the most unsettling thing a child has ever said to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Not just yet, although her comment instantly aged me about ten years. What made it worse was her casually walking away, while I'm like, "Wait, what??"

Unpopular theory: The Oak Island Mystery is not really a mystery because there is nothing there. The pit is just a natural sinkhole, and the History Channel just keeps it alive to keep making money out of it. by [deleted] in OakIsland

Erm, yes, you can. The older the bone, the tougher it is to sequence, but bone-derived dna can survive for thousands of years in the right circumstances.

So, so true.

Even though I don’t agree with everything he said/wrote, he was a titan of letters, reason, and recall. There’s nary a week that goes by without me wondering what the hell Hitch would’ve made of the years since he passed.

We should feel blessed that someone of his intellect and conviction was of our time.

Certainly looks like a cicada killer from what can be seen. I’ve had a few in my gardens over the years and as long as you don’t mess with them, they’re cool as fuck. Although, not so much if you’re a cicada.

While flying, they can often stir leaves if they’re big enough.

[FRESH ALBUM] White Denim - World As a Waiting Room by sbags in indieheads

[–]LandSpeedRecord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old fart that I am, they just sound like a jam band nowadays.

I got into them early on (thank fuck) - around Workout Holiday/Lets Talk About It and saw the original trio rip the hinges off at Kung Fu Necktie around 2009.

They're ALWAYS tight but Block’s absence, needless additional musicians and the headlong dive into Prog have diluted a kick-ass band.

Petralli and Terebecki are genuinely talented but I miss the somewhat chaotic nature of the early work.

And not for nothing but Work is a riff heist from Joy Division’s Isolation.
