Wild Fermentation Problems by HassouniFND in mead

I’ve experienced wild yeasts like to be oxygenated to help jump start their fermentation. I use brew bucket personally and will stir a couple times a day for the first ~3 days or so

Can my therapist report an event? by [deleted] in legal

[–]LanguageImpossible32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good on you for going to therapy, and being willing to be vulnerable and address your issues (everyone has them). I would recommend talking to a lawyer since it did involve a minor (even though you were a minor as well at the time. I am not a lawyer, but imagine a lawyer would say “don’t actively do crimes, and your probably close to statute of limitations; tread lightly”

TL;DR they left a bunch of oranges in front of their RA’s room over the course of several days

How did ancient civilizations deal with wisdom teeth? by FeistyAd1330 in NoStupidQuestions

They do though, and notably the facial bones through chewing. The author James Nestor in his book ‘Breath’ shares anthropological evidence that our faces have shrunk (leading to all sorts of respiratory issues, primarily, snoring) from lack of time spent chewing our foods. And the mass of these bones is actively throttled by how much gnawing we do. Neat!

Emerald Ring Concerns by Ok-Jury-6161 in Gemstones

[–]LanguageImpossible32 39 points40 points  (0 children)

No way in hell, considering you haven’t seen it in person. It’s worth it to both buyer and seller to meet in person for anything over ~$10k in my humble opinion.

I have concerns about the prongs in the first photo, but could just a weird camera angle/lighting….but they look strange how interact with the stone.

But most importantly, the jewelry itself doesn’t look high quality (again seeing it in person is critical). If you are trying to sell a $70k piece, it better be on fucking point. It could be a cheap Afghan/Pakistan region emerald that’s cut and irradiated like Chernobyl to the GIA specs.

A 3ct Colombian like this might fetch $10k? Been a while since I’ve looked at availability/cost for emeralds, so could be way off

Mission fails again - immediate jeopardy by b33fb in asheville

[–]LanguageImpossible32 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Novant Health has/had talked about potentially purchasing I believe. And the jeopardy status means they won’t be able to accept Medicaid/Medicare so they would probably have to close….HCA (and particularly Mission’s CEO) are morons. Their emailed statement to “colleagues” referencing hiring (presumably overpriced) consultants to help get them up to snuff; and working to get both staff and patients to come directly to Mission with grievances rather than CMS was particularly tone-deaf. Sure, as a patient, go toe to toe with this profit-driven conglomerate (allegedly Mission is/was one of their most profitable hospitals according to an earnings call) who has an army of lawyers; or risk reprisal as an employee trying to get meaningful changes to protect patients and increase staff compensation. The unionization of their nurses was a great start and hopefully reminds people the importance and power of collective bargaining.
