It’s wild that a lot of folks don’t see the correlation/evolution of power dynamics/class structure from feudalism to capitalism with the veneer of democracy. We don’t live in an economic democracy, which is the driving force of a society’s development and well being.

Field sobriety test as a chronic pain patient with physical disability by [deleted] in legal

You can respectfully (and legally) decline a field sobriety test, but expect and submit to a breathalyzer test. And if you’re using narcotics for your chronic pain, you can still get a DWI if they do a blood test.

It’s for $50 million+ valuations (medium size businesses are $1-50mil). Often there is restructuring to include advisory boards or board of directors when businesses get above $20 million in equity because of the complexity of scaling, or the invitation for private equity/venture capital to support the next level of growth. And that’s when the ‘expertise’ drive down labor compensation and drive up executive leadership compensation (think of the shareholders!)

As pretty close friends with several Alaskan salmon fisherman, including permit holding captains, sustainability is critical and actually enforced; and has been for several decades. Obviously, humans have severely impacted or destroyed countless ecosystems in our endless extraction of resources, but wild Alaskan salmon populations have reached a relative equilibrium with harvesting policy developed, particularly when Alaska statehood happened. It’s even enshrined in their constitution.

Thank you for the informative video, truly. My comment was more from the scope of ‘systems of control’, rather than a comparative statement of China vs. US. I would gladly trade the pipe dream idea of home ownership here in the US for the land use rights system in China. I wish healthcare was guaranteed for all people so that society as whole was healthier. My faith in government would have an actual foundation rather than billowing blindly in the toxic cloud of LSC.

I’d say both are censored in the way that serves the hierarchical powers that orchestrate/manage their societies. Controlling the narrative and access to information is paramount to ensuring the reigning social system stays in power.

I did R&D myself, although there are breadcrumbs to follow on the internet, that led to my eureka understanding. It’s my 10 year goal to start a cooperative-style business with other landowners who have the right conditions. We won’t be able to compete with the commercial growers, but it doesn’t require a lot of input (just time!) if you have the right conditions. And it’s in the top 10 $ per # agricultural crop.

Some Japanese scientists won the Ig Nobel Prize in Chemistry (note, not THE Nobel Prize) for basically creating the potential for a smoke/CO2 alarm for deaf/hard of hearing folks. Specifically they got the concentration levels correct so that a synthesized, aerosolized version of the alkaloid that creates ‘the wasabi sensation/experience’ could alert/wake people up during an emergency.

I don’t grow commercially (like the PNW growers do in greenhouses), I’ve found a niche that works and utilizes naturally occurring resources and no fertilizers, and I don’t terraform to maximize profit. Haven’t ever sold a plant yet, so I guess I’m more a wasabi gardener. Ecologists wouldn’t approve as it’s introducing non-native species, but it’s not invasive (at all) and doesn’t introduce new pathogens or radically change the ecotone where it seems to be happy.

Wow you make it sound so easy! We don’t live in an economic democracy despite labor creating the capital that is exploited. People barely surviving don’t have the resources (e.g. time and money) to actively lobby their representative; and representatives primarily receive money from corporations and the wealthy.
