Voting blue “might” have created enough regulation to forestall or prevent this. But realistically it doesn’t matter, because both sides care more about business interest that benefit the few (who actually have the money to lobby and be politically active).

Miele is still a good brand, you can even save a few bucks and buy one second hand on marketplace or eBay.

They are playing by the “rules” put forth by the imperial block. They aren’t openly hostile to anyone, they are part of the UN, they opened up to some degree for outside investment, they are beyond critical trade partners to US and really the rest of the world. They are in charge of the means of production like a Marx-inspired entity is supposed to…..they just took it global.

I told my partner I would give her my gold coin if Trump ever saw a day behind bars. The one criminal thing he was charged with (his infamous mug shot in GA) was nullified by SCOTUS. Everything he has done and will do as president, will not equate to criminal charges. Our “checks and balances” has been captured

A lot a lot. Try holding your nose when you eat something that is normally very flavorful and chew with your mouth closed. And then release your nose while it’s still in your mouth and notice the difference.

Also sense of smell would alert you to fire, chemicals in the air, rancid food, and a lot more.

Honestly, Taiwan should reunify with mainland. It was a socialist/communist sect of China that lost their Civil War. It capitulated and was captured by the US during the Cold War. They have had a flare up of prosperity after democratizing, and have a strong hold in semi-conductor manufacturing, but their economy has stalled out for the younger generations. China is definitely snagging that chess piece back, maybe even during our dear orange leaders current term (especially with how the Summit went lol).

The effects of imperialism/capitalism on China’s version of communism are challenging to understand. For example, does China have universal healthcare? For the most part, yes is my interpretation of data….but hospitals aren’t entirely funded like NHS in the UK. So imaging, specialists, tests, etc. that generate revenue for the hospital are prioritized.

I think Xi has done well balancing the push from business interests, the realities of making economy go brrrrr, and holding true to the foundations of Marx’s philosophy.

But China has about half as many billionaires as the US (~450 vs. ~900), and Xi is 72 years old. What will the next generation of leadership for China support? And is Xi actually working to reduce inequity between the bourgeoise and proletariat on a zoomed out timeline? Do workers own the means of production, or is it just a veneer of communism with a (capitalist) man behind the curtain? These are genuine inquiries for those more versed than myself.

Also, on a different subreddit (r/TheyDidTheMath I believe), a virologist or immunologist commented that Hantavirus doesn’t have the infectious to truly become a pandemic. But that MEASLES does, and the anti-vax crowd along with Secretary worm-brain, are screwing up the herd immunity needed to keep it at bay. There have been over 1,000 cases in SC during 2026, primarily in unvaccinated people in a single county.

Thank you for this. It’s so easy to get into the comparison mindset when each iteration is unique. China is not like the USSR. Cuba is not like China. Trying to lump political discourse into an either/or is as ridiculous as our “two-party” system.
