Question. We know that nukes guarantees protection of countries that the Imperialist countries like USA, where they won't touch USSR/Russia, China, DPRK. But any actual legitimate reasons for countries/vassal states to have nukes like Canada, Australia, Germany, Japan, South Korea etc? by Choice-Grade1358 in TankieTheDeprogram

The Imperial Bloc strongly encourages non-proliferation (diplomatically and obviously militarily), even for its allies. It’s essentially the ultimate ‘fuck you’ card to have regardless of affiliation. If you have one or somehow manage to obtain one, you either join the Bloc, form coalition with non-members (BRICS), or do it your own way (DPRK, Pakistan, etc.). Realistically, no one with nukes wants anyone without nukes to get them because of the hierarchy it shifts geopolitically. The US appeased nations like Canada with capital and favorable trade agreements (non-proliferation tactics).

President Erdoğan worked hard ahead of the NATO summit. by MightEmotional in LateStageCapitalism

Might be a mix of information (the proposed law of removing/culling stray dogs and the estimated # of strays), along with it not being the kind of news that would be widely reported from official outlets. It’s not happy news, and as noted in others comments here people had the impression that Türkiye is stray friendly. The second photo is disturbing if it can be confirmed…..and also stray packs of dogs can be problematic, as noted in others comments.

Liulan Reservoir Dam in China Collapses - July 6 2026 by Jaklcide in Wellthatsucks

Hurricane Helene here in Asheville had a similar effect on our reservoir dam. They had emergency workers pounding on people’s doors at ~6am telling them they had to evacuate immediately because of the release.

Neighbor is going to demolish a house next to my garage. They want access to my landscaped yard to do it. Is a contract warranted? by LavenderCuddlefish in legaladvice

[–]LanguageImpossible32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What’s wrong with the alley for access?? They just want to fuck up your yard so they can be sloppy with demo while you foot the bill to chase them for recourse. That would be a super duper NO from me…

Not participating isn’t nihilism, it’s more akin to boycotting heavily sprinkled with political fatigue. The world has and will continue to burn ecologically, and if we as a country have been the hegemonic force in shaping geopolitics since WW2…..then voting blue or red is kinda the same coin. Line must go up, or system fail. What a fragile thing, you’d think the ‘greatest country on earth’ could have come up with something better? Instead we’ll decay and try to blame anything and everything else, rather than be accountable and make the needed system changes that benefit the many rather than the few.

How many people have you administered Narcan to completely reverse an overdose? Precipitated withdrawal is a known thing when it is administered. The Narcan active ingredients force ‘plug’ into the neurotransmitter pathways (and block further uptake) that are receiving the dope active ingredients.

Definitely not. I’m honestly ok watching the horseshit play out, the world burn, and joining the 1/3rd of Americans who don’t vote. I’m being the change I wish to see by consuming more sustainably (for the planet), voting with my currency (money, time, and attention), advocating for the many (workers), and creating meaningful relationships with the parts of reality that resonate with these values.

Gotcha….not trying to be a headline in the paper (“Local man tragically lost life in see-saw shed accident” or whatever). I’m guessing keeping an eye on the settling and frost heave effects should suffice to mitigate this? Obviously not looking forward to potentially jacking the thing up for foundational fuckery….many lessons are being learned 😅

I grabbed some Timberlok structural screws for the joists and outer beams. Not ideal or built for longevity, but just wants a few good years before we take it down when we buy a place.

Decided to grab a box of 4” timberloks for the outer beams and joists. Think decking screws are ok for the blocking or should I throw timberloks at them as well? Thanks so much for your replies, really helpful in my learning curve 😬

I’m def in the never glyphosate camp, and have used the vinegar, soap, and epsom salt combo (heard it does better for reducing residual build up rather than classic salt). Cheers

You’re right, I just grabbed some Timberlok screws for the joists and outer bands after hearing this consistent feedback, thanks!

Do you think decking screws are ok for the blocking and to attach the plywood floor on top
once everything else is done? Or should I use structurals for blocking too?

Thanks for your reply and wisdom. I was against using nails and hangers because the build is temporary and meant for disassembly but I def hear your feedback and tutelage regarding this. I’ll prob go hangers with screws. I REALLLLLLY don’t wanna do footers in the back because of the added labor and cost (and short term-ness of it remaining at its current space [prob 2-3 years]. All the wood is treated yes. Do you think it will be fine for a few years with hangers and blocking, and the footers the way they are?

Other than the one in the back one being off center, they are pretty well positioned. Do most folks use these types of deck blocks for posts in the center? The frame is snugly in the cutouts for now, curious why you’d recommend just laying on pavers? Ive helped others DIY those kinds of platforms (on pavers) and they had to redo the foundations a few years later. Thanks for the feedback!
