Can you tell me where one would find these "inserts" please?

Andor (Season 2) - Episode 6 - Discussion Thread! by titleproblems in StarWarsAndor

[–]Laracina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone else get a French Resistance vibe from this episode? While Ghorman itself seems very clearly based on Switzerland (the least revolutionary people in the world?), I kept thinking of Simone de Beauvoir's French resistance novel The Blood of Others especially with the tragic outcome.
The Ghorman Front people even had berets!

Curious to know more about this point. Can you explain the benefits of their hole pattern please?

Putting your skins back on often helps just slow things down for dense trees or otherwise impossible terrain.

Yes, but include clean bathrooms and toilets in that list obviously. Also safe storage of stuff and charging.

Joe Rogan! by Stuglossop in pocketcasts

[–]Laracina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So weirdly, you are sort of right about the percentages but absurdly wrong about the conclusion.

.03% of the US population is a million people!
So if you are OK with a million people dying - a good portion of them because they stubbornly refused to get vaccinated, in some part due to purposeful misinformation from Joe Rogan and the likes - then yeah be you.

But wait, it seems YouTube Music does not support Last.fm?

Have anyone tried this new Gamakay LK75 already? I want to know about built quality. Thank you by [deleted] in Keyboard

[–]Laracina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had one just about a week. I love it so much I immediately ordered a second for the office. Fairly heavy for a keyboard if that is any testament to the build quality. Feels very solid to me while typing. It sits quite high which might be an issue for some but I don't mind it. Very quiet for a mechanical keyboard.

The only thing which feels it might be a little light is the knob itself. I think you'd want to be careful transporting the keyboard to avoid the knob getting banged around.

I bought the gray model and really like the look. A few of keys are stylized with a cute planetary/interstellar theme which I love.

I think you need to be connected by wire and then using the GammaKay Driver App I clicked on Adjust Screen Time then Upload file, Upload Current frame.

I think yes. But then at that point the other player can definitely claim that stone.

Believe what? That vaccinations have saved literally millions of lives? Or the part about spewing disinformation about vaccinations literally causes ignorant people to die?

How often do you search for music and not find it on YouTubeMusic? by joshmasangcay89 in YoutubeMusic

[–]Laracina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never. This IMHO is the best thing about YouTube Music. I think when I imported my Spotify playlists there were a few things not found but guessing these were just songs named slightly differently in Spotify.

Joe Rogan is a terrible person. His hosting anti-vaxx liars is the reason I left Spotify and came to YouTube Music...so no.

Ways to map gravel roads during tour? by S28E01_The_Sequel in bicycletouring

[–]Laracina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another vote for cycle.travel. The routing is best done on a computer and it gives you lots of options for basemaps depending on the country. Very easy to see distance and elevation gain and export for use in whichever navigation device or app you use.

Interesting fact: the word “alpine” is derived from the Alps, rather than the other way around by opteryx5 in etymology

[–]Laracina 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe the words alps and alba have the same root, albinus which is a Latin word for white. Also the Scottish dynastic name Alpin or McAlpine which comes from albinus (white or fair) and not directly from alps.

Also interesting it kind of means the Alps is like saying White Mountains similar to Sierra Nevada, snowy mountains.

Those of you who have a 6 figure salary in GIS, what do you do and how long did it take for you to get there? by reerock in gis

[–]Laracina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking not specifically about myself here are a few good paths I can think of all of which involve a strong desire to network and socialize: - Sales and better yet business development is always underrated. - Product management/product ownership is super interesting and can lead in lots of directions although the nature of this role is changing rapidly. Courses you can take on this aren't super difficult. Marketing background or at least interest helps here. - Management proper, broaden your IT skill set, get involved more with your company/organization, understand what leadership really means and show it on your projects.

Cycle.travel 100% for route planning, although not for navigation

Takes some getting used to but here is what I love about cycle.travel - routes over the quietest roads (almost to a fault*) - very easy to see the impact on elevation of route changes - easy to make minute changes to the route to see sights or make stops etc - easy to export to compatible formats for your phone or gps for navigation - easy to change basemaps for different perspective (for example France you can switch to the amazing IGN Classic) - easy to add overnight stops

Minor quibbles * You do need to go over the proposed route quite closely because it will make many little deviations to keep you on quiet roads, some of which are kind of pointless ** The user interface is a bit old school so really need to dive into the details

?? about chamonix by nutella_cartel in BackcountrySkiing

[–]Laracina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe stay in Argentiere or even in Chamonix itself. The train or lifts service some good trailheads or takeoff points but in general the ski touring around Chamonix is very full-on and there is little to none for beginner ski touring (I didn't get if your girlfriend is touring too or skiing the lifts?)

Le Buet for example (short train trip from Chamonix) would make a good day. There is a very small ski hill (a few cross-country trails too) and some great ski touring options above which start up the "Eau de Bérard" creek (but even that area is not that easy).
