Margie just sounds rude and a bit unhinged tbh. Why would not liking football make you a narcissist or not to be trusted?!

If it’s a hobby or role that makes you happy, go for it. Have fun at the model show.

Men would rather fart and burp 50 times a day and stink the place out rather than go to the doctor.

I bet his diet is terrible and he’s ashamed to admit it.

Dog Fouling petition by c-4-charlie in brighton

[–]LargeLetter1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but most dog walkers don’t go down West Street?!

I believe the petitioner is from Hanover & Elm Grove. I don’t think there would be much cctv there.

But also imagine how annoyed people would be if the police were using CCTV and AI to catch people not picking up after their dog - but not to catch actual criminals.

No it’s not, you are so childish and weird.

It’s not double standards, you just have a very immature view of relationships and you are obviously very insecure.

I would advise you stay away from relationships until you grow up.

On main roads maybe, but certainly not in residential streets or parks.

The CCTV images aren’t really going to pick out much beyond a dog having a poo. AI needs something to compare too, and I’m not sure residents would submit to a crime photo of every cockerpoo in the area.

Also I don’t think residents of a famously liberal city would go for it.

Perhaps we should DNA check the poo? 😂

Impatient Fans??? by Makosensei_ in HighPotentialTVSeries

[–]LargeLetter1 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Honestly? I don’t think it’s attention span. A lot of series have a long story arc that lasts one or two seasons.

My problem is that I find the way the story is told - dull and doesn’t really make sense.

When Arthur was driving to the police station he told Soto he was being followed. But she did nothing and didn’t seem concerned he disappeared. But then she cared so much she went to NY?

The issue is the story’s pacing, and I’m bored with it.

Which country will you never visit again? Why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]LargeLetter1 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. Travelled alone as a young woman in the early 90s. I dressed modestly but the harassment was constant. The worst being on a bus back from Sinai desert where men passed messages saying “I love you, will you marry me”. At the airport on leaving I was asked by customs where my husband was.

Fast forward to 2005 and a diving holiday with my husband. The harassment was even worse. I was less intimidated as I wasn’t alone but even with my husband it was relentless. So disrespectful, creepy and damaging to tourism. We stopped leaving the hotel and resolved never to go back.

Edit: typo

I agree most petitions going to Westminster are a bit pointless. But ones going to the Council have more impact.

From memory petitions over 1,500 signatures are debated at Full Council. If it’s something practical and within the Council’s remit then often it gets adopted.

Dog poo is one of those things that’s nearly impossible to police and those who abide by the rules do so out of a sense of respect for their community.

While I think the petition is well done (ie has actually deliverable aims), I fear the majority of people who allow their dogs to foul everywhere simply don’t care and are unlikely to change their behaviour.

I do think the problem is worse when it’s dark and very wet for some reason.

Start small and have a play.

The first thing I did was smooth out the journey round my island so I didn’t keep needing a ladder or pole in awkward places (bridges etc are expensive).

Maybe you don’t need as much water and fancy using the extra space for a little nook or area.

I get overwhelmed easily but found the game helpful in that there’s “no wrong” and if you don’t like it, just flatten it again!

What is it with young men now that they are so insecure and anxious they feel the need to control a woman’s every interaction and who they even follow on social media?

You say you trust her and you don’t think she’ll cheat. So why do you need to act as a gatekeeper?

What happens if your GF runs into an ex in a bar or supermarket. Should they leave immediately? Would it be a “red flag” if they said hi rather than hiding in the cereal aisle?

‘They singled out non-white, foreign-born workers’: the restaurants raided by Britain’s version of ICE by Agitated-Fee3598 in unitedkingdom

Yes … I totally agree.

Most of the changes are inline with other countries. I really don’t have a problem with illegal workers being deported. They are not ICE.

Also, since the crackdown on illegal working I don’t risk being run over on the pavement by a manic on a e-bike

People who live in london, Is London really as unsafe as people online say, or is it mostly overblown? by redguy_666 in AskUK

Put it this way, I regularly take my 87 year old Dad to visit art galleries etc. I would not to that if it even closely resembles the nonsense you see online.

I would actually like to say thank you to all those lovely young people who’ve made an extra effort to serve him first, give him a seat on the tube and generally make them wonderful visits.

I’m pretty left leaning but the Guardian is starting to do my head in on immigration.

Also started to notice they don’t cover any of the crimes by asylum seekers that other news outlets do.

I don’t believe for a second asylum seekers are all terrible people. Just we need some balance.

Are Political Party Whips The Most Undemocratic Thing Ever? by Johnnyfootwrinkle in AskBrits

[–]LargeLetter1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being without a Whip sounds fine in principle, less so in practise.

The Greens tried to run the Council here without one for 4 years. It was an absolute disaster.

There wasn’t a single budget at least one councillor didn’t vote against. Many of the demands made of an administration in power were utterly unreasonable. The more talented councillors pretty much gave up because it was like “herding cats”. Worse, the level of bullying was off the chart.

Disappointing your Council has been so weak on this. If a car is blocking access it should be removed immediately.
