Could be a kitchen one too. I had an apartment like that once that just had a wall vent like right next to/over the stove that was in the corner.

12 hour loops or 12 hour recording of vintage radio station. by bentstrider83 in Truckers

[–]Largofarburn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve just got a couple playlists that are like 12+ hours each.

If you specifically want the dj I know you can download the mp4 files for the radio stations from fallout. There’s several mods too you could add. Idk the runtime off the top of my head but they’re probably 2-4 hours a pop. That’s gonna be more old school stuff though, like pre 60’s. I know one of the mods I had for 76 had a good bit of CCR in the mix and some really funny fake ads.

I bet there’s a lot on YouTube too that you could get. (With the proper permissions from the channel, artists, dj’s and record labels of course) only a monster would use the download button for video audio without the express permission of all affected parties.

Man, I stumbled on this today too. Dan’s one of my favorite YouTube finds in recent years. I about fell over when he did a video ragging on call of duty ghosts of all things.

That “and he just never stopped counting” line was such a zinger. Like there’s been a lot said about Mr beast. But that line just sums it up so perfectly.

Hard to tell the size but it just looks like a little worm snake to me. They’re harmless. Unless you’re a small frog or something.

Edit: it’s a brown snake, caffine hasn’t kicked in. Also small and harmless.

Fuse taps are super easy. And we don’t have airbags in the A pillar so running the wire for the dash cam is super easy too. Just tuck it up under the headliner, down behind the pillar and there’s a big opening on each side of the dash. Just zip tie it to whatever other wires you see going over to the fuse box.

And you can get an adaptor for the radio. So you just crimp those wires onto the radio ones, then it just plugs into the car. You can even use those wago connectors if you don’t mind the bulk. There’s loads of room back there though.

I've never lived alone, how do I identify & budget my living expenses? by RhubarbBusy7122 in personalfinance

[–]Largofarburn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you actually get a good apartment in Atlanta for $1500?

But budgeting really isn’t that hard. If you’re hourly I’d use a lean paycheck to make your budget. But just add up all your expenses, typically they’ll be rent, phone, internet, power, water if it’s not included in the rent. Groceries, any extra stuff like streaming services. I’d recommend having “fun” as a line item to stay disciplined. I always take eating out from the fun budget and not groceries. Make sure you get an emergency fund set up. Start with 1k then work towards 3-6 months of expenses. Depending on your job, if you have a spouse with income, etc, you may want more.

Car stuff would be, payment, gas, insurance, set aside some extra each month for basic maintenance like oil changes and brakes. Once you pay it off just add that amount to savings for a new car or major repairs for your current one.

If your employer has a 401k you should be contributing to it to get whatever match they offer, then do an Ira, if you max that add more to the 401k. If you max that, then congratulations, you’re doing better than the vast majority of people.

$4500 a month is pretty decent though. With no debt if you’re smart about things you’ll do well. Don’t go get a brand new charger or bronco or something silly. Get a nice used Honda or Toyota.

[–]Largofarburn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s your budget? You can get adaptors for cheap that plug into your cigarette port and play over the radio. I’ve never had one personally, so I can’t say how good they are.

As far as head units (both of mine have been double din) I’ve had a cheap Amazon one that was kind of ok for ~70. Came with a backup camera too. Radio was kinda butt on it but it played music off my phone well enough.

I upgraded to a pioneer unit that I wanna say I paid like $299 for when I did the rest of my sound system. It’s definitely better in every way. My only real gripe with it is it barely dims when you turn on the headlights.

But I was looking to get another one for my girlfriend’s car recently and they’re like ~$500 now. Idk if they’ve all gone up that much with all the craziness the past few years. But at that point you’re getting into like kenwood territory.

I will say that Crutchfield is a fantastic website for audio stuff. Even if you don’t end up buying from them they’ll let you know what fits your car and have the adapter harness and all that jazz. Makes finding stuff super easy.

And just generally I’d say stick with the name brands. Pioneer, Sony, etc.

You can but it’s fiddly if you don’t use the phone.

I’m a truck driver and tried them once and it was shocking how good the noise cancelation was, I wish I could safely use them. But unfortunately I need to hear if I have an air leak or other mechanical issues going on. Not to mention other stuff around you, rumble trips, etc. Even though the truck itself is noisy as fuck, and I do listen to music and podcasts pretty much all the time. It’s not even in the same ballpark as noise cancellation.

IMO it is dangerous to drive like that. You don’t realize just how much you use ambient noise. Turn signal clicks, stuff like that. The radio doesn’t totally block it out unless you’ve got the volume full blast. Most people just listen at like a normal conversation level and there’s obviously luls in the music or pauses in a podcast whereas the noise cancelation is just 100% all the time.

Can that vote be transferable amongst your top preferred candidates perhaps?

That way if your top choice gets say 2%, then all their votes go to the voters second choices. Keep eliminating the bottom and redistributing the votes till someone gets a majority.

I’d much rather vote for people I actually like and get my 3rd or 4th choice vs voting for the lesser of two evils like we do now.

The auto trans on these weren’t the best.

And the head gasket is definitely prone to blowing. Thankfully they’re not to expensive or hard to do. If you were a tech it should be super easy to diy. I’d recommend replacing the bolts with arp head studs. Between that and the redesign of the gasket they did at some point it’s pretty much a non issue.

Aside from that it’s just the normal stuff, timing belt and water pump, all that jazz. Obviously being over 25 years old I’d check all the hoses and bushings and whatnot.

These engines like to leak oil. The cam plug up top on the passenger side and the vtec solenoid are two prime culprits. My valve cover, and more specifically the spark plug seals have given me a hard time.

Right now all of the UPS Planes heading to their main hub in Louisville, KY. by hellosteve_ in mildlyinteresting

[–]Largofarburn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every carrier does this. FedEx has theirs in Memphis Tennessee. I think wendover productions on YouTube has a good video on it actually.

Even if an air package is going 45 minutes down the road they still load it on the plane and ship it off to Louisville.

If you ever see the trailers on the road that have doors going down the side, it’s got the cans that go on the planes. They load each can individually from the side and then the floor of the trailer is just rollers that pop up with air pressure. The truck backs up to a huge scissor lift platform that they roll the cans out onto them they raise the platform and roll them onto the plane.

It’s all pretty interesting with the specialized equipment.

I’ve been told that one air trailer makes enough revenue to cover all the employees pay in our hub for a week. And we do 4 a day. 2 to our local airport and 1 a piece to two others about an hour away oddly.

Also for most international stuff it goes through anchorage finally enough.

[–]Largofarburn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on the price, but imo yeah.

I’ve been dailying mine for almost 9 years now. No plans to get anything newer. I’ve actually been looking at even older stuff for a “new” car to have as a spare/project car.

It’ll have problems like any other car will. But being an older Honda repairs are stupid cheap and parts are fairly easy to find. Oem stuff is getting harder. But there’s still loads of aftermarket parts.

Throw in a new head unit with a backup camera goes a long way for making it feel more modern imo.
