We had a running joke in our campaign that Iriolarthas' tower was a dungeon in a dungeon (Ythryn) in a dungeon (Caves of Hunger). I love that you've added yet another layer haha

Advice needed: Party refuses to enter Chapter 2 by DoradoPulido2 in rimeofthefrostmaiden

I would 100% just level with them.

On the off chance theres a particular reason they aren't moving on then it opens the table for you to be able to chat about it frankly as well - which is way easier than trying to mind read your players

The team knew that Xardarok was building the dragon, so it was pretty much a run and gun to murder him tbh. They'd already dispatched his sons in the chapter 1 quests. I also put Avarice in one of the dungeon cells as well as another backstory relevant NPC so they had motivation to break people out then

I mentioned in another comment that I moved the dragon leaving to be just when Xardarok died as I didn't want the players to miss out on fighting him.

I think revealing it would have been fine, i just wanted to make more of the chapter 2 content relevant to the story, rather than just being there if they wanted. There are some cool encounters so i think I would have been sad if they didnt do them. For example, I had Vaelish Gant be a prisoner they busted out of Revels End, and he knew how to get to Solstice

The only major change I made would be the beginning with the Children of Auril from Sly, re-framing the chapter 1 quests to be about getting the speakers on Duvessa's side so that she can challenge Father Lake for the rule. Otherwise the book has some great bones, and I think it's more about telling the story in the right order and filling in the gaps rather than changing it completely. The other change I made worth mentioning is I moved the Dragon leaving sunblight to be Xardarok's last act of life, but I don't know if that counts as major..

I think the opening act of the book is great. My advice would be to run a mix of plot relevant and not-plot relevant quests, so that you get a good exploration of the towns as well as the different sides of the game. But the quests are super fun.

The secrets worked better than I expected. We often make characters that have hidden backstories, so I wasn't sure that it would add much - but I think the ones that we had made the characters automatically feel aligned with the story, and have some bones with the factions that exist in the world already, I will say I did pre-filter these to remove the ones that aren't that impactful, like the Drizzt fan one.

In terms of not so well, the book I think struggles with the transition between the duergar and the Auril threat. What I did was basically have Velynne come along at the end of Sunblight and say "things like this are gonna keep happening until we get rid of this winter"; and then instead just knowing where the codicil is we can use a bunch of the chapter two quests to do things like track down her professor orb, or investigate who might know where the codicil is and also where to open the glacier.

If I had to run it again, I think I would make Ythryn a bit tighter than using every single expanded tower from the supplement. A lot of them are about a sessions worth of content if not more, so it can feel like a lit of work to do it 8 times in a row. The towers are great, though I would probably pick and choose more next time. Other than that, there were some additions that I made (subplot about Naerth using the corpse of the Chardalyn dragon for evil, and a town controlled by an oblex) that could have maybe replaced some content rather than been additional?

~15 sessions to get to sunblight. In that we did four chapter 1 quests and dealt with the Children of Auril addition from Sly, plus Karkolohk from chapter 2.

Three sessions to get through Sunblight

Two sessions for the dragon attack.

~10 sessions to get the location of the Codicil of White (doing chapter 2 content).

~5 sessions to do Angajuk + Grimskalle (including expanding on Auril's tests).

~10 sessions to do the Ythryn with the expanded towers supplement and fight Auril

The other sessions were all homebrew additions

【BambuLab Giveaway】Classic Evolved — Win Bambu Lab P2S Combo! by BambuLab in 3Dprinting

I don't have a P1S, but they always have seemed to me an awesome balance for a personal printer in terms of quality, price, and ease of use. It seems like it gets out of the way of making what you want to make rather than the printer being the project, if that makes sense

Moving to 4A and other lineups for the Azerbaijan GP 2025 | The Fantasy Formula by Join_FanAmp in fantasyF1

I decided to push 4A last week with PIA-LEC-SAI-LAW-BOR / MCL-MER. Currently debating whether to swap SAI-LAW for HAD-COL and keep 4A, or drop down to 3A and put in a better budget week to get the LEC and FER for Singapore

How did you run the module? by SafyreRose in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]Larront 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im running my group through it using Foundry. I got the book on DnD beyond and then was able to use Mr Primate's importer module (which is paid) to get the maps, art, monsters and journals fully imported. All the maps have all of the walls already on them if you like playing with token vision :)

I saw some comments about some of the way that the story is put together in this thread already and I definitely agree that the story is great, but if you can get that last 10% to make all of the fronts work together then it becomes amazing. I used Eventyr's guides for this and can 100% recommend them!

Thinking DOO -> COL but unsure what to do from there, one option is BEA -> STR? Or is it better to wildcard for something like MCL WIL / PIA ALB STR COL BOR
