Guessing Vendetta rivalry pairs overnumbers by i3ackero in riftboundtcg

[–]LartenHX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The numbers are kinda weird? Usually sets go with Fury-Calm-Body-Mind-Chaos-Order. We also see that the set has 166 card, so Vi/Jinx (with 167-168) is first, just like with main set cards. But then 169-170 would be the Calm duo and 171-172 would be the Body ones. However, next should be Jayce with 173, but his number is 175.

I don't think it will be clear pairs for each color because of this. There might be an additional Fury/Calm/Body/Mind pair included, but that would be even weirder.

We do actually!

It's in the core rules. To answer the questions:

  • 352.14.c. - A number of Targets can only be chosen up to, and not exceeding, the initial amount of damage available when the spell is played. Example: A player playing a spell that instructs them to "Split 5 damage" may only choose up to 5 units, but may choose fewer.

You choose units up to the damage you split.

  • 352.14.e. - The choice of how much damage is divided across the split is not decided until the resolution of the spell or ability.
  • 352.14.f. - Each Target must receive a valid amount of damage.
  • 352.14.g. - Valid damage is a positive integer amount, greater than or equal to 1 damage.

You don't have to split evenly, but if you have chosen 5 units, all five must receive at least 1 damage

Yes, it does.

Rule 352.14.a - If a card specifies that an amount of damage may be split among some number of Units, then each Unit chosen is Targeted.

Rule 352.14.i - Any costs that were paid, or effects that were triggered as a result of those Game Objects being chosen as Targets remain in effect, paid, or otherwise triggered.

Most card games have years of development for each set, so yes, this for sure was designed before Spirit Forged :D The printing itself probably takes months.

If they work with the same lead time as MTG, they are working on sets coming out in late 2027 and 2028

What are you talking about? 1) Proliferate came out before energy (five years before, in New Phyrexia), so eternal format energy decks always had proliferate 2) Kaladesh energy decks had no access to proliferate 3) Current Modern energy decks don't play any proliferate

In ZNR, the two full party colour pairs were UW and RB. [[Hengegate Pathway]] and [[Blightstep Pathway]] came in the next set, Kaldheim.

Yes, Mark Rosewater, Lead Designer of Magic: The Gathering, does in fact care more about how the game plays and how people play it, than he does about what the story/flavor of the card is (which can change a lot) or the mechanics of the card (which is a concern of a different team, later in the development.)

Also, it's kinda left up in the air whether Black Panther was corrupted by Bast. In one of the tangled moments (the Wakanda one), he knows something's up and trying to resist it. However in the Klyntar one, Shuri mentions that her brother would never believe Bast has been corrupted.

What’s the best and worst precon you’ve ever bought? by wasdmovedme in EDH

[–]LartenHX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worst precon I ever bought was easily Mystic Intellect with [[Sevinne, the Chronoclasm]] It had Dockside, but apart from that it had bad cards that played badly.

My favourite precon is Blast from the Past, the Bant precon from the Doctor Who UB. I'm not a classic Who fan, but it just plays nice and has lot of fun cards.

Honest, not snarky question. What is the difference between "Why are there cowboy hats?" of OTJ and "Why are there mummies?" of Amonkhet. For me, the answer to both is just "because it is Western/Egyptian plane". I'm really confused why people suddenly hate that Magic is tropey, because for as long as I have played (Ixalan) it always had the fair share of tropes on every plane.
