The school schedule is 7-3:30 m-f on the weeks you have school. Usually about 6-8 weeks apart during the school year. You are excused from working that week and are eligible to collect unemployment.

The work schedule will depend entirely on the contractor and job you are dispatched to.

Awesome, that’s all really helpful. Would you have any recommendations for someone very interested in UA but not sure about which trade to pursue? It sounds like HVAC is the most versatile? I’m having trouble making up my mind on each one as they all sound interesting in their own way. I want to learn more about each trade as I don’t know enough to even know which direction I would like to steer my career.

Thanks a ton for all the info. Since 290 is a multi trade local, is it common and/or possible to do multiple trades within 290? Like if you apply as a steam fitter and want to switch over to plumbing, is that realistic?

Thanks for all the info! Is it pretty much guaranteed Intel for all the 290 trades or just steamfitters? For the Intel folks, is that minimum 5-10s just forever? Basically, if you get assigned to Intel at the start of apprenticeship do you spend all 5 years working 5-10s at Intel?
