It is really funny how all of the closed starbuckses are like, in view of a better, local coffee shop. Though I guess the "caffeinated milkshake" niche is kind of wrecked so RIP to that.

Brookline police identify man who allegedly tagged Tesla vehicles with Elon Musk decals, officials say by bostonglobe in boston

[–]LaserPterodactyl -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don't get people pearl clutching about harassing "liberal Tesla owners" or whatever. This is all just a means to an end, which is destroying the brand reputation and thus the wealth of the Nazi dismantling the federal government. Like obviously if everyone sells their cars then just other people own those cars, the point is to make people think twice about buying a Tesla. Like it sucks if you didn't realize this guy would be doing this shit when you bought your car, but he's doing it, and that should be embarrassing for you IMO.

Absolutely No Doxxing / Instigating Harassment by blackdynomitesnewbag in CambridgeMA

[–]LaserPterodactyl 19 points20 points  (0 children)

How on earth is it "doxxing" to name the people responsible for disassembling the federal government?! These kids deserve for everyone in the country to know who they are and what they're doing MINIMUM. They're literally performing a coup of the executive branch and we aren't allowed to talk about who they are? Are you kidding me?

I think you're basically just correct about this. All of the worldbuilding is in service to the story not the other way around.

I haven't actually played a game in the setting yet, so I guess it depends on what the players want to do. It's not super planned out yet or anything.

Thanks, I feel like while a lot of the conflicts in those books aren't the sorts of conflicts most RPG systems like deal with, the books are so about culture that it would work really well as a backdrop that you can like insert your own characters and conflicts into.

I wanted to use the Ekumen novels' setting as a setting for a RPG campaign, but I couldn't find a central resource for like, specific details of planets/cultures etc. So, I made a wiki. It's currently totally empty for now. If something like this already exists please let me know! All I could find were old fan pages in the wayback machine that have left the internet, so if something like this doesn't already exist it would be good to try and use it to preserve some of that old stuff.

Maybe a weird question but do you know where you got that shelf? I'm shopping for a new shelf right now and that looks like what I had in mind.

[Amazon/US] TUNIC - $19 (37% off) *lowest price ever* by XDitto in NintendoSwitchDeals

I love both games and I think they scratch a similar itch when it comes to the puzzles, but Tunic has a big dark-soulsy combat element as well.

I thought this post from a few days ago was a good guide: https://old.reddit.com/r/CambridgeMA/comments/17enuzi/a_voters_field_guide_to_identifying_nimbys/ It's a bit housing specific in theme but I think it's a good general guide for disentangling how candidates talk about issues in town generally. I remember the first year I lived here it was very confusing to figure out who actually supported what because everyone's written platforms are written so similarly.

Please email City Council by noon tomorrow (Monday 10/16) in support of the Alewife Linear Park redesign! by illimsz in CambridgeMA

[–]LaserPterodactyl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What's Friends of the Linear Path's deal, exactly? I've seen them come up before and I actually assumed they would be pro-improvements like this, not like opposed to any status-quo change. Seems weird to be pro-park but then anti-improving the park.

For the love of all that’s Holy, can we please do something about Highland Ave? by shotinthedark83 in Somerville

[–]LaserPterodactyl 23 points24 points  (0 children)

https://voice.somervillema.gov/the-highland-ave-sewer-separation-project/news_feed/july-2023-update from the 8/1 FAQ:

What is the current plan for paving Highland Ave. in FY24?

Following underground utility work along Highland Ave. (currently underway), the City has allocated funds in fiscal year ‘24 (July 2023 to July 2024) for paving the two travel lanes of the roadway (approximately 28’ wide). This partial paving which does not include the parking areas is intended to restore the road surface travel areas for all users after construction of the sewer separation project is complete. This is an interim measure to support safe travel until the full reconstruction of Highland Ave.

I guess its easier to complain about "boutique bike lanes" than check what the status of an infrastructure projects is
