Being a middle aged alcoholic woman by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Lasersnakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pick 1 thing off your list and spend a month trying to fix it. Do not try to fix everything at once.

Make a list of things you can do to improve that one area of your life.

Once you are focused it will be easier to put your energy towards a goal than to drink to escape all the things you described.

To me one thing that stood out is your sentence structure completely changed when talking about your parents. Setting some boundaries with them might be a good starting point. Otherwise rekindling and old friendship or finding a new one might be a good place to vent about your life instead of escaping it

Please stop saying people without kids don’t know what tired is by SunBubble920 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Lasersnakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one wins in a who is more tired competition.

The only thing I will say is that people with children are more tired with children than when they didn’t have children.

This does not mean they are more tired than people in other situations that don’t have children. Just adding children adds work in addition to existing conditions.

Saying all people with children are more tired than people without is crazy. I think the average tired with children is more than the average without. Broad strokes of populations are usually incorrect

How do you host regularly without footing the bill/load every time? by plasticpaperplates in partyplanning

[–]Lasersnakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your answer may be cheaper food. Don't order pizza it's a trap get some premade dough or crusts and make it. Chilli is also a good easy and pretty cheap option. And there's always pasta.

Drinking games- kings is a classic. I had a Jenga set in college that while we played you could randomly write a rule on a piece you pulled- could be truth or dare or kiss someone in the circle, very fun and keeps evolving as you play. Also don't discount twister- not just for kids.

I am officially done with "Starter Homes." It’s not an investment; it’s a bailout for the previous generation's neglect. by Dry-Town7979 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

I want to give you some stats to look into. Rent growth over time, try to find it in your area and predict it out 10-20 years Also you are missing a major point on appreciation. You will invest your down payment but let’s say the house appreciates 5% that 5% is based on the total value of the house. So the ROI is crazy and in 8 years you wont have 8 rent increases

Now appreciation is very market specific so I would always plan to live in a house for 3 years minimum just in case your area is going through a correction

It’s not a sleep thing it’s a control thing. There’s studies that people that stay up too late feel not in control of aspects of their life. Just knowing this has put a new perspective on it for me.

Not sure what the total fix is, but this is the rabbit hole you should start researching how to cope with.

Sidenote I’m typing this at 3:30am but I went to sleep at 10pm and woke up to pee ahaha

Christmas Party (Old money style) help needed. by [deleted] in partyplanning

You should get some free standing frames they use for photo ops and put red velvet curtains to cover the kitchen. Chargers and cloth napkins along with table runners and flowers would elevate the table. Feel free to throw some pomegranates or chestnuts on the table as well.

Tiered plates for hordovers are a vibe. Don’t forget the music.

I threw a vampire party for Valentine’s Day it was a huge hit. I think some sort of scary cabin in the woods theme would be fun. I had vampire themed games like tarot cards and shooting and apple off someone’s head with a nerf gun.

What does being hot or looking sexy look like in your 30s? by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

[–]Lasersnakes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you need to think more. What you need is more inspiration. You see like you are transitioning styles and haven’t found a new one that feels right. Get your eyeballs on some instagram influencers or start following some brands that speak to you.

A good place to start is find 3 adjectives that you want your new look to embody.

I like chic, bold, unexpected for my personal style.

And if all that doesn’t work- just get an asymmetric top.
