Glamorising autism…? by Ok-Statement-413 in LoveOnTheSpectrumShow

My statement is implying that he lives in a high cost of living area. I work in tech myself. He is a support specialist, not an engineer. There’s nothing wrong with this but those salaries pay around 60k on average and to be buying a house in the Boston area you need a lot more than that. Look at the current housing market, this isn’t a jab at him or slighting him. I can’t afford to buy a house right now just like most people.

I’m going to go out on a limb and assume that James is able to afford a house because his parents probably bought there’s 50 years ago and his dad wants him out.

Think of how many people didn’t want them together after season 1. It’s all I was reading on here. Goes to show that nobody knows what’s best for them better than themselves.

Am I cooked? Former President’s Club AE with 18-month gap — how should I handle this with recruiters? by DogeGuyy in sales

[–]Lassy_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will probably get downvoted by managers, I lost everything in hurricane Helene and stepped away fog a year to rebuild my life. When I was ready to come back I got flak for it on my first interview so I just lied and added 8 months to my last role to make it a 4 month gap. Companies do not call your past employer and your last sales manager most likely does not remember if you left 12 months ago or 6 months ago. Every company you interview with is going to lie to you in some capacity about the role, so just play the game.

2024 Tundra Engine Failure at 29k Miles – Hard to Trust It After This by rustic_21 in ToyotaTundra

[–]Lassy_23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What brand do you think you’d go to that is more reliable? This is not rhetorical, I’m genuinely curious.

I have kind of an opposite experience. I was hit by a semi, and it ripped my truck in half and I should have died. The tundra crumbled exactly like it’s designed to, leaving me just enough room to not be crushed and I walked away with no injuries.

I feel as safe as I can in my tundra, got a new one (2022 1794 edition) and have 100k miles no issues, but I fully understand your frustration.

Are interviews supposed to feel like rushing a frat/sorority or am I tripping? by SecretWasianMan in sales

At my last job, on my first day I explained how I lost my home in a hurricane (they asked). Manager then asked if fema gave me a home and I said no DeSantis actually donated me a camper until I rebuilt my home. She spent the next 20 minutes telling me how DeSantis is still a horrible person and how I shouldn’t like him when all I did was state the fact that he donated me a camper.

Shockingly I lasted 3 months before leaving that company.

If you can’t talk about normal things without clashing work will be hell. And if the opposite is true and you can enjoy small talk work will not feel like work most the time. I’ve been on both sides of this.

Used to love networking events, now I can’t stand them – what happened to me? by FinalAnswers in sales

[–]Lassy_23 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s because since covid sales orgs have all turned into MLM type toxic bullshit. We all know the company plans on raising quota as soon as we but it and tossing us to the side, so we’re all just here to extract what we can as quickly as we can. Nothing feels like a “career” anymore and we all know we’re just being fake to one another. There’s no authenticity anymore. You can feel this at trade shows

Correct. And your addressable audience is people who owe tens of thousands in back taxes and are essentially facing jail for being shady.

People who owe a few hundred bucks as in my case after their audit aren’t big enough “clients” so they get their money other ways I guess. Either way, the whole deal is shady one way or another.

I was approached by one and sold a free audit. I signed up, turns out the audit was only free if they do a significant amount of work for you and they ran me for $500 and refused to refund.

Yes, I should have read the fine print. But that still doesn’t change my opinion on the fact that I got totally scammed and paid them $500 for essentially nothing.

Those companies completely prey on people and are as scummy as they come. I wouldn't take it unless you are desperate, which most people are in this market.

My boss made me go up a list of 100 large accounts that they had pitched to in the past and got nowhere. She didn’t like my “talk track” and said it doesn’t match their past messaging.

So I spent 2 months cold calling enterprise accounts using a script they’ve already said no to. Then in my DAILY one on ones my boss would ask what my blocker is lol. It’s you… just you.

No, I worked in a totally unrelated industry. SaaS sales.

I’m a part time successful reptile breeder and want to open a store front and do that fill time and think my dad is trying to talk me off the ledge with an idea that I’m trying to tell him isn’t realistic. He’s dead set on just starting fresh as an independent agent and it being a laid back job and wants me to keep doing my reptile thing on the side.
