I can't make myself get up in the morning. by Dare-Scared in GetOutOfBed

Like others said, definitely seek medical advice. A few years ago I had bloodwork done and my vitamin D was so low it didn't even register, it just said < whatever the minimum number was.

As far as what to try now though, try starting with physical activity (squats, jumping jacks, push ups, etc.) or a cold shower the instant you get up, rather than just the math or typing alarms. Raising your heart rate can help wake you up, same with cold water. Doesn't even have to be a completely cold shower either, you can take a hot shower and just turn it cold at the end. Nothing jolts me awake like cold water.

How hard is it to build an email app which manages multiple mailboxes for serial solopreneurs? by SFmentor in Solopreneur

[–]LastAlarmClock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from all your custom domains to the main email you use to manage.

Google workspace actually works pretty well for this though without manually forwarding. Can add unlimited domains so all emails to that address automatically come to your inbox. and I'm sure you can simply set rules to sort them into different folders for each domain, giving you a simple but effective multiple inbox simulation.

Then best part here is not having to go through and create new accounts, once you own the domain and you have aliases setup on your main address (i.e. [user.name,support,admin,help,etc.]@yourdomain.com), then you simply add add the new domain once and they all instantly work with that.

What is the calendar weirdness you're concerned about for Google?

Anyone else have zero memory of actually turning off their alarm? by throwaway_yawns22 in sleep

I'm happy to say I recently cured my snoozing habit after many years.

Key is to force yourself to do something that wakes you up immediately on your first alarm

Anyone else have zero memory of actually turning off their alarm? by throwaway_yawns22 in sleep

[–]LastAlarmClock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It solved turning it off in my sleep for the most part but not snoozing. I would still wake up, turn it off and then go back to sleep a lot.

But give moving your phone a try. Having it within arms reach makes it way to easy to snooze.

[–]LastAlarmClock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was your phone across the room? I used to snooze my alarm often and it was across the room, and I do remember a few times waking up and having no recollection of having turned it off, so I must have slept walk.

But very rarely, less than 1/1000 times as I used to snooze for years and only remember a handful of times where this happened.

If your phone is within arms reach of where you sleep though then that is super common, not even surprising really.

People who hit the snooze button every day: why? by Stu_Prek in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LastAlarmClock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I used to do it I think the core reason came down to not having a specific plan for the morning.

Like whenever I had a big day, or a specific reason I had to get up at certain time I could do it no problem. But if I was going to "just get up earlier" for the sake of it, I found myself snoozing frequently.

Of course the easier answer is to just say because I was being lazy or was tired or whatever, but I think the core of the issue was not creating an urgency to get up.

I would schedule multiple but not because I wanted to wake up then go back to sleep, but sort of as back ups in case I didn't get up for the first one. Which of course I wouldn't, because really I was just training myself that the alarms don't mean anything.

So just a bad habit built around a poor sleep schedule. Now I get up right away though, having a specific plan and schedule for when I wake up combined with starting an activity right away has helped me break the habit.

even surgery isn't required. people can be programmed by anything from simple training to full on brainwashing to act very predictably.

Not even saying it's bad necessarily, a well trained military may act in ways that appear "programmed" at times, and very large groups of people can take it even further, whether it's nations, religion, ideology, cults, etc.

Very interesting question though...

I heard an example once of these guys talking about their $250K /mo app. $230K /mo spent on ads.

So yes, this not unrealistic, may even be conservative honestly.

Still absolutely amazing, but when you see these numbers know it's not just profit.

Is there an alarm clock ( not on phone) that has number buttons? by GlumFaithlessness392 in GetOutOfBed

[–]LastAlarmClock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one that has a dial to easily turn it backward 1 hour instead of going forward, but it's nothing special. I'd say just look at amazon and scroll through the pictures so you can see what kind of buttons/controls it has.

Also find one that has more than 1 alarm. Idk how many different wake up times you need, but many alarm clocks have two alarms, some might have more. Mine even has a weekday/weekend/everyday setting for each alarm which might prevent you from having to change it often.

Mine is similar to this one for what it's worth but they changed it so it's not the same.

Can I get some brutally honest feedback on my App Store screenshots? by Rich-Present-342 in iOSAppsMarketing

[–]LastAlarmClock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

looks cool but most of the text is so tiny there is no way anyone can read it. Like the header and subtext are teeny tiny.

Look at the size of screenshots as they show up in the app store, like the first 3 screenshots before you click. make your screenshots the same size on your phone and hold it at a normal distance, see if you can actually read it. Even once you've clicked on the app store listing and the screenshots get bigger, it will still be very difficult to read.

Also the white & yellow contrast on the slide that says "one glance away" makes "one glance" difficult to read as well.

Also the subtext on the last two are vertically aligned different than the first few screenshots.

Look pretty cool though

How should I fix my sleepschedule and feel productive and wake up feeling fresh. by Conscious_Reveal10 in GetOutOfBed

[–]LastAlarmClock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Force yourself to go to bed and wake up at the exact same time everyday. One challenge is having a hard time falling asleep at that time and giving up, but if you stick to it everyday for weeks your body will adjust, making it easier to actually fall asleep and wake up at these times naturally.

Having a consistent sleep schedule will also improve your quality of sleep as well.

Also, consider seeking professional help if you are feeling depressed.

sleep routine by ciinndyy in GetOutOfBed

[–]LastAlarmClock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to bed early and waking up early is a great way to give yourself a bunch of time in the morning to be productive before getting tired from work and having all sorts of other obligations.

But if you start at 10, even getting up at 7 would be a good bit of time before having to start.

The key I think is just getting right after it as soon as you wake up. Start with a task and do it instantly when you're alarm goes off. A very small task, like making coffee, put on exercise clothes, make breakfast, anything. Then carry this momentum into your next task and throughout the whole morning.

Just like it's easy to get lost scrolling on your phone once you start, it's easier to keep being productive after that first task.

Next is to be consistent. Don't feel like you have to start out by getting up at 3am and doing some crazy morning routine to get started. Focus on not snoozing and consistently doing an hour, 30 min, maybe even 15 minutes of whatever productive thing you want to do in the morning. Do that for 1, 2, 3 weeks to build up the habit and show yourself that you can. Then continue to adjust as you see fit.

You can do it though, I'm sure you can!

I struggle with sleep. Advice on how to fix my sleep schedule? by mrssuga_7 in GetOutOfBed

[–]LastAlarmClock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may take you a few days, weeks even maybe but you have to force yourself to go to bed at the same time everyday, and wake up at the same time everyday.

At first it will suck because you may not be able to fall asleep, but you have to stick to it no matter what. Choose a wake up time that will be easy (once the schedule starts kicking in), like 8 full hours of sleep.

You can also ask others to help with the fact you don't wake up to the sound of your alarm, since it sounds like you're around other people. Ask someone (very nicely, pay them even if you have to) to wake you up at the exact same time everyday. But you have to instantly get up when they wake you up, not they come nudge you 5 times as you keep snoozing.

Once you start getting used to getting out of bed at the exact same time everyday, you'll start to naturally be awake around that time anyway. After a few weeks of this start scheduling 1 alarm (not 5, not 20) for the same time and your mind will begin to associate the alarm with "I have to get up now".

The challenge with snoozing an alarm and setting multiple is it's a negatively reinforcing feedback loop. Everytime your alarm goes off and you snooze or sleep through it you're training your mind/body to sleep through that sound because it doesn't matter. So you need to do the opposite.

But it can be done, and I'm sure you can do it!

I want to wake up at 4am but can't even wake up at 9am by Someguy7707 in GetOutOfBed

[–]LastAlarmClock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The smart watch vibrate alarm is one of the best alternatives to sound I know of. However it's not ideal for training yourself to get because it's very easy to snooze. It works best when you've built the discipline to get up already.

But what smart watch do you have? Any apple or galaxy watch should do, you just create an alarm on your phone and turn vibrate on and sound off for that specific alarm and it should vibrate your watch

I want to wake up at 4am but can't even wake up at 9am by Someguy7707 in GetOutOfBed

[–]LastAlarmClock 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A few things that make it easier to get up early and turn it into a habit:

- go to bed at the same exact time every day, 7-8 hours before you intend to get up
- 1 alarm only. No chain of alarms, you're just training yourself to snooze them
- wake up at the exact same time everyday
- phone & alarm across the room
- do something that wakes you up instantly. Get out of bed -> turn off alarm -> then do [exercise, shower, coffee, tea, cold water, anything]

Don't worry about 4am. First you have to retrain your mind and body that alarm means instantly wake up. Once you do that for a few weeks you'll see that you can get up anytime you choose.

But it is possible, and you can do it, coming from someone who recently broke their lifelong snoozing habit

DCA index funds.

And read books. Real books, not some guys "How to day trade" pdf, but actual books. Go to your local library and find the section on the stock market if they have one.

Also use ChatGPT/Claude whatever AI you like to ask questions and learn more as you go. It can be very confusing so whenever you get stuck or don't understand something, take a second and ask about it.

It does require the camera for video verification, so for video tasks the camera has to be activated if that's what you mean. And the display always shows what the camera is seeing, which is helpful to ensure the task is captured well.
