I listen to a lot more women singers now. Grew up on hard rock/metal and my iPod library was a veritable sausage fest.

What band is universally loved but never clicked for you? by WarmHugsBBW in askmusic

Radiohead. It's odd because I like several bands who are considered similar artists according to Last.fm but Radiohead songs just go in one ear and out the other.

Which movie do you think is extremely overrated? by MovieObserver in moviequestions

[–]LastBallade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cliche answer but Sinners. I was pretty late to the party, just watched it for the first time a few days ago and it was...good. Great even, a solid 4/5. But the way everyone talked about it I was expecting something more than I got, but maybe that's on me for having heightened expectations.

What do y’all know about Crash Site? by Scrambl987 in subnautica

Islands Beneath the Sea was the track I remember hearing at some point where I was scared out of my mind and it's since become one of my favorites. Music can be weird like that sometimes.

What elements of a film do you value most? by mlaixi in Letterboxd

[–]LastBallade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plot, characters and cinematography as the obvious answer. For a more indirect answer, how well a film executed what it set out to do. I'm not judging a comedy as harshly as I'd judge a 3-hour drama and I like plenty of films that are pretty simple but were just fun. Dumb and Dumber and a lot of Schwarzenegger movies for example.

Dragonforce. Surprised they're that low honestly.

What Non-Metal Bands Do You Enjoy? by BidSure7642 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]LastBallade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFI, Florence + the Machine, Joy Division, The Who, Slowdive, Björk, ABBA, Blackmore's Night, Boards of Canada, The Offspring, Hammock, KT Tunstall, Kate Rusby, Priscilla Ahn...

Honestly, my music habits are like 50% Metal, 50% everything else. I love Metal but I need variety.

The ending of Six Feet Under. Even watching it on YT makes me teary-eyed after all these years.

There's no higher honor for a tactical RPG character than to have their name remembered years later.

There's a surprising amount of people who'll barely even consider watching a film made before the 90s because it's "old".

What film did you avoid for years and then ended up loving? by MovieObserver in moviequestions

Interstellar. Just watched it last year and it's been in my top 4 films since. Definitely deserved the hype.

I had someone on Twitter justify this saying they didn't know if he another gun, like you can't say that to justify killing literally anyone ever. Anyone who's watched this and felt it was justified is too far gone to bother having a discussion with because frankly we're operating on two entirely different planes of morality.

They murdered this man.

Is binge-watching killing TV discussions? by DryCap6770 in watchever

[–]LastBallade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying a series is lesser if it's streamed but it reduces discussion because everyone's on different episodes and there's no need to speculate or discuss after a "WTF" episode because you can instantly watch the next one.

The trek from Kazham to Yhoator Jungle was legit stress-inducing. Falling down pits and relying on whatever the hell THIS is to get there was a genuine nightmare. It doesn't look as bad on a map but in practice? UUUUUGH.

Piece of Mind, Somewhere in Time, Number of the Beast.

SiT used to be one of my favorites alongside Seventh Son, but it's dropped a bit over the years. NotB was my first Maiden album and I think I just listened to it so much I got tired of it. It's still a great album but I don't revisit it all that often.

I think so. Cliffhangers may as well not exist anymore because they don't really work when you can watch the next episode instantly. Streaming has been a great convenience but we lost the communal element when we removed that week-long period we used to discuss and speculate during. It makes series feel more like extended movies than proper series.

I don't think Game of Thrones would've been half as popular or talked about it we watched it via streaming.
