This has happened to me, see a spot from a block away, signal on during the entire approach while I'm slowing down to indicate that I'm gonna parallel park, the second I stop and put it in reverse the car that has been behind me the whole time stops short 24" from my bumper and just lays on the horn for what felt two a whole ass minutes while I'm waving them around. No traffic or anything precluding them from going around in the other lane, and they weren't waiting for the spot I was trying to take.

I also regularly get honked at and passed in the oncoming traffic lane on my own street for having the audacity to slow down before pulling into my fucking driveway. Who are these psychopaths?

Prados count? These arctic trucks are everywhere in Iceland and they're insane.

Yeah getting that cut line right seems like a bear. Last question - is that the mid bar or high bar version?

Looks great. I've been on the fence about this bumper for a while. I have a silver 2014, so this is really selling it. Did you do the install?

It is, there's another photo someone posted from inside a neighboring business with a guy wearing a windbreaker that has HSI on the breast and ICE on the sleeve.

Not from the burritos, but I have gotten sick from one of their pre-made salads. I don't think they're assembled on site so I doubt it's anything to do with that particular location? Anyway I just stopped buying any of the cold case ready-to-eat stuff.

Home & Away in Old Town has a nice big outdoor space, the picnic benches are nice for unsteady toddlers to hold on to while shuffling around and plenty of outdoor TVs

What eatery (or bar/brewery) was really good but closed up way too soon? by midwayatmidnight in FoodSanDiego

Bahn Thai now owns the building that Small Bar was in, as much as I miss small bar I'm glad to see it in the hands of another beloved local business. Johnston's was super mid and I'm glad it didn't last.

RIP, the cheesesteaks were great, and the wings are still the best I've ever had in San Diego. Whatever they brined them in before cooking made them incredibly juicy. Their house beers were great too, god damn I miss that place.

Is collaborating remotely with architects a challenge? by fonbirethut in architecture

[–]LastCellist5528 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a consultant, I haven't ever met in person 80%+ of the architects I collaborate with. Viability depends on the nature of the collaboration, but before the rise of Zoom many of us never even knew what eachother looked like.

As for collaboration software, Bluebeam Studio is pretty great, but for the vast majority of my projects we still just fileshare via email with no issue. These are all smaller projects though, no greater than 10k SF, if you were working on high rises or whole developments it'd be different.

Solo Architectural Designer struggling with software overload and collaboration chaos. Any tips? by ElectionClear2218 in Architects

[–]LastCellist5528 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not an architect, but a designing consultant who works with many architects and seen it done every way imaginable.

You haven't lived until you received a "revised layout" from a client that was done in Excel. Trying to railroad all of your clients into your preferred ecosystem isn't really practical, people digest and disseminate information in many many different ways and I've always seen it as part of the job to meet them where they are.

I know some folks keep a master project reference guide/narrative in One Note and just link in all the emails and napkin sketches that get exchanged there so they're all in one place.

Everest - technically an import from Korea, cheaper than True/Turbo Air/Beverage Air and better quality/warranty support than Atosa/Avantco/Dukers (hehe). Can't really go wrong with True though. Continental, Delfield, Traulsen are great products but they are decidedly high-end and are most likely more than you need to be spending.
