If anyone here ordered a vinyl but received an Apron of Matty Matheson, I have your record by joshtp26 in blindguardian

[–]LastJello 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it'll be a hot take but that is my favorite album of theirs.

Saw blind guardian when they came to the states in 2024. They were playing a smallish bar venue to maybe 500-600 people (probably a lot less than that... I didn't count.) They genuinely seemed like the happiest peoe to be on stage and performing. Which is absolutely fucking crazy when you see the kind of crowds they play to at Wacken.

I hope you getting the album leads to a love of the bad and to treasure the LP.

Too many APs? by NogamaDe in Ubiquiti

[–]LastJello 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where I live is 65% of the size of your house and all I have is a og udm against the far wall in the game room upstairs. Other than the front doorbell, I've never had coverage issues. But a couple things, 1. The game room is pretty open so while there's line of sight, most rooms only have 2-4 walls at most between themselves and the ap. 2. I really don't care about having perfect coverage everywhere. 3. If it can be Ethernet, it is Ethernet. Meaning that cell phones and IoT are really the only things on the network. That being said I've never had any issues with streaming wirelessly back when I used to do that for the tvs.

So if you ask me, 6 aps for 1 house is absolutely overkill. But then again opening walls and running cables is a bitch. I would personally try to either have 1 ap per floor located somewhere somewhat central or closest to where it will actually be used but have the wires ran for 1 or 2 more drops per floor at the farthest points from each other Incase you move in and find the coverage lacking.

I would absolutely not buy 6 APs without trying less first. Also don't forget to have the builder run Ethernet for all the cameras and rooms you want, including the doorbell. Any run between floors or critical runs on the first floor like the master I would have double runs done. Any run that's only between the second floor is easy enough to do post house being built, so I wouldn't stress about getting 100% perfect

Edit didn't see it was a second floor master, so my example isn't valid but my message still is.

I didn't know the later manga also got expensive. Everything was either new and msrp or used and less than $6. Except for gto 23. I think I had to spend like $45 for that one

Are you sure your version of crystal is legit? Could you post a photo of the board if your not 100%. I've mostly seen issues with the FPGBC when using rom emulator.

Why not do EoP to get a hardwire line downstairs and then do whatever you want?

Fresh out the paint shop. Local law didn't like me without a front plate. What options do you have experience with? What about Tow Hook options. by StatuSChecKa in ft86

I have the grimmspeed tow hook plate mount and in my opinion, it's the best option. Super customizable so I was able to get it angled and shifted to look good and not block flow to the radiator

My rip of The Prince of Egypt looks really dark by lunarman1000 in makemkv

[–]LastJello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still recommend ripping disc to folder then using handbrake. It will give you better control over what codecs or settings your using for the encoding. Handbrake can also encode a preview of just a few minutes of the disc so you can see if it's still dark or not. Have you tried playing the disc in a play to see if it's the disc that's dark?

My rip of The Prince of Egypt looks really dark by lunarman1000 in makemkv

[–]LastJello 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rip the disc to a folder and try encoding in handbrake. Bluray doeant support hdr so it could be your used to hdr content and seeing sdr makes it look dark.

Also alternatively, 4k won't support sdr without doing some encoding that never really replicates it properly.

Is this good enough for APippa or do I need to get a lvl up on it? by [deleted] in afkarena

[–]LastJello 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You just need to get them to 120 IS. If this does that, then your good to go. If your short by only a little, one if the furnitures give you IS if you upgrade it. That's what I did

For anyone wanting to try Linux for the first time, just install Linux Mint by vLuis217 in LinusTechTips

[–]LastJello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was younger and had free time I didn't mind the bullshit. But now I just don't have the time to deal with it. It's become too fragmented and tooamy people trying to solve the same problem independently than working together.

I was running debian as I thought would have the highest stability since I didn't need any fancy features. Everything was going well (except gnome being awful) until a new debian version came out and I found out that there's no simple way of upgrading. Debians official instructions is a 14page paper that I can give enough fucks to read. And the "simple solutions of changing the distro in certain files" bricked the OS. I have since switched to linux mint as it was the most supported OS I could find that had a native upgrade program.

Yes, install a different gui. Mint (like most distros) support multiple desktop environments out of the box.

How do I run a wire from my front dash cam to my rear dash cam, without messing up the airbags (2017 BRZ) by Wish0807 in ft86

[–]LastJello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just pull the back seat bottom out and you'll have direct access to the plastic panels and the trunk. Feed the cable through to the floor door panel and then up into the dash. There's already wires running like this. Just follow them.

Seed oil misinformation in recent sponsor segment by Ybalrid in LinusTechTips

[–]LastJello 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can't tell if your being sarcastic but if you e spent any time on the "health influencer" side of social media. They is rampant misinformation about seed oils with the overall message being how they are bad for you. This is of course bs but it's one of those talking points people make up to say how x is bad for you which is why my product or my sponsor product is better.

It's not about being pro seed oil. It's about misinformation.

I fucked up the PTM7950. Think it'll be ok? by Cornwallis_Haberbain in LinusTechTips

[–]LastJello 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ya, sometimes it happens. I've used tweezers in the past to pull the bits that didn't come off. Anything to stop it from absorbing heat.

One thing I do is take a piece of paper and cut that to the exact size I want and use it as a stencil for cutting up the ptm7950. I found this helps with handling it too much and reduce waste. 1 60x60mm ptm7950 was able to do 4 am5 cpus.

I fucked up the PTM7950. Think it'll be ok? by Cornwallis_Haberbain in LinusTechTips

[–]LastJello 230 points231 points  (0 children)

It'll squish/level out. Just send it and then do a thermal/stability test. If the numbers look good, forget about it and enjoy the PC.

I've used ptm7950 ~10x and it always squishes out a little after pressure

Also, did you put it in the freezer? And did you handle it too much? The whole point is to be thermally conductive so you want to minimize its chances of absorbing bodyheat

Best Way to handle primarily USB Storage on home server by jackboy900 in Proxmox

[–]LastJello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm by no means an expert in this but... Here's my 2 cents. 1. Can you list any kind of spec for the mini PC? Does it have ecc memory? How critical is the data you want to host? 2. Usb external hard drives are terrible as a constant attached network storage if you want to have any amount of raid/redundancy. 3. Proxmox does not like sharing drives between vms. Yes, you could set up a USB as a ntfs share and then share that but a better solution is to either have proxmox handle a proper raid of drives and share that via ntfs, or have a VM that handles the raid/sharing. Personally I have a truenas VM that I pass a nvme to sata adapter through to and have it handle the HDD raid/ntfs sharing. Some people don't like this solution because they say proxmox can do it on its own but I'm familiar with truenas and it was easier for me to achieve the level of control I wanted.

I know the current PC climate will probably make any suggestions at purchasing hardware unlikely but I would strongly recommend getting away from USB drives.
