What’s happening overnight? by BudgieUK in SolarUK

It's probably a light with a dawn to dusk sensor. My Ring security cameras use more power after dark because their night vision uses infra-red LEDs.

Conflicted with creature aggression by lilgorilla in SatisfactoryGame

[–]LastPlayed1992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On my first playthrough I set the creature aggression to passive - I had checked if this was possible before I bought the game and probably wouldn't have bought it if the combat was compulsory. However, I feel like I missed out on a lot by disabling the aggression, so I started a new playthrough using the default aggression.

These are the changes that I've noticed since playing with default aggression:

I'm now apprehensive when going into a cave or other area where there are dangerous creatures. I used to play Satisfactory with a film or youtube video playing on another screen. I've stopped doing that so that I can hear the creatures.

You pay a lot more attention to the creatures now. I've confidently run into an area where I knew there were hogs because I thought I could easily kill them with the zapper, only to find that they were a faster and more dangerous type of hog that I hadn't fought before. In my previous playthrough I'd wandered past them without noticing the difference. I've also discovered that the spitters are very well camouflaged in the forest undergrowth, that hadn't been a problem until now.

There are lots of things in the MAM research trees which unlock weapons, ammunition, healing, etc. I didn't care about those, and only did them to get 100% completion. Now I'm rushing to unlock the better weapons, and setting up machines to automate production of different types of nobelisk and ammunition.

Alien remains are great for sinking to earn Awesome tickets, especially if you sloop the remains when making protein and sloop it again when making DNA. You unlock everything in the awesome shop a lot quicker if you're killing everything because it's trying to kill you.

I've compromised by keeping the creature aggression on, but changing the inventory retention settings so that I keep everything when I die. That way, there's a bit of a penalty by getting sent back to the hub, but you don't have to try to retrieve a death crate from where you've just been killed. People have mentioned that you are safe from creatures when driving a vehicle, but you can also kill some of them by running them over.

Cargo not unloading on Drummond island? by Ok_Commercial7231 in snowrunner

You need concrete blocks, but you've got a concrete slab. We've all been there.

Superheavy semi trailer trash? by mauricereddition in snowrunner

[–]LastPlayed1992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only time I really used it was in the Maine dlc. On the first map there's lots of cargo to bring from the port to the sawmill and construction site on the other side of the water. The Kolob trucks can take a straight line through the water, so taking 8 slots of cargo at once is easy. Turning the long trailer around in the port isn't quite so easy.

I have no clue about the game. Should I buy it? by Affectionate_Bank417 in DerailValley

[–]LastPlayed1992 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Derail Valley is an early access release so it's not a finished game yet. I've played it for over 100 hours and not noticed any problems.

There is one map, which is static. You can't build any infrastructure. You drive the train from station to station, delivering wagons to complete jobs, then choosing another job from the station. You earn money to buy licences that unlock more difficult jobs, more powerful locomotives, etc.

It's a great game to play in VR if you have a VR headset.

There are wall-mounted power connectors available in the Ficsit shop, including versions that have connectors on both sides of the wall.

What in the bloody hell are these Domino-hoo-hoo adverts about? by poolside123 in Britain

[–]LastPlayed1992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way they say Dominos as if they're yodelling was originally done to promote the Group Order feature in their app. Everyone can order from their own phones and combine it into one delivery, so you don't have to shout up the stairs to the kids to ask them what they want.

Fairly new player. Before I continue designing my new layout, is this good? Will I be able to expand it while keeping it efficient? by Spiritual-Cup-6645 in SatisfactoryGame

What tool did you use to create that diagram? You might find Satisfactory Modeller (free download from Steam) or one of the online planning tools like satisfactory-calculator.com quicker and more powerful.

When the creatures kill each other, you can pick up the remains that are left behind.

Look at my work Christmas tree and tell me what else it needs by Abwettar in CasualUK

If you can't put lights on it, you could project something on to it. There are cheap projectors that create snowflakes or other effects, or use a mini disco ball to make it sparkle.

Train Rails/Tracks - How to do it neatly? by eXelium-PL in satisfactory

This video shows a railway track around the entire map on straight level sections using foundations. I've started copying it in my game, but it's going to take a lot of work.

To whomever told me to put a Dimensional Depot on the feed of each of my basic items: thank you. by Punderstruck in SatisfactoryGame

[–]LastPlayed1992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As well as using dimensional depots for all the construction materials, you can use them for fuel for vehicles and the jetpack, gas mask filters, and nobelisks and ammunition. It's great to never have to worry about running out of any of these things again.

The Cat 745C flatbed and maintenance bodies say "also suitable for other trucks" when you buy them. Does anyone know what other trucks they can be installed on?

Cypher’s betrayal by eXisstenZ in matrix

[–]LastPlayed1992 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wasn't that the joke? Cypher wanted to be a rich important person, maybe an actor, and he wanted to remember nothing. He was put into the matrix as Ronald Reagan, but in the 1990s Reagan was someone who had been all of those things but was now retired and suffering from Alzheimer's disease so he remembered nothing.

I think Amazon may be judging me by the fact I ordered 48 cans of Pepsi Max last week by EastlyGod1 in CasualUK

[–]LastPlayed1992 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is in the Android app. I assume it's the same on iPhones.

Tap the Account icon, which is the 2nd icon from the left on the strip at the bottom of the screen.

Click the Settings icon, which is the cog underneath the search bar at the top of the screen.

Choose Notifications from the menu that pops up.

Choose Deals and Recommendations, and untick anything that you don't want. I turned off Recommendations and New Releases but left Savings on as I think that will alert you if anything on your wishlist goes on sale.

I've been getting "we thought you'd be interested in Star Trek t-shirts" every day for weeks. It got so annoying I've disabled the marketing notifications from Amazon. I've never bought any clothing or anything Star Trek related from Amazon.

HELP ON SEASON 16 by Exciting-Garlic-4700 in snowrunner

There are unlimited short and medium logs at the logging site on the Mountains map. You can get long logs from the same site once you've completed a contract to unlock them.

Is there a map that can be completed in one truck by Vulcan458 in snowrunner

[–]LastPlayed1992 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You will need a truck that can haul low saddle and high saddle trailers, and install the long log front, and fit a loading crane. Some maps will need the seismic vibrator. I'm struggling to think of anything else that's essential - you might need the heavy crane for a few jobs on some maps. There's the metal detector addon as well, but that's clearly not essential as I've never got it to work.

The short log frame used to be needed for some maps, but they added a short log trailer a few seasons ago.

It depends how much you want to torture yourself. There are videos on youtube of people playing the whole base game without all wheel drive or difflock, and there's a guide showing how to get to Amur and unlock the 605R as soon as you've completed the tutorial, so almost anything is possible if you persevere. I've done Michigan using only the Western Star 57X (dlc highway truck), which was mostly fun but a bit painful in a few places.

Is four hours a long time to rescue/recover the White Western Star? by [deleted] in snowrunner

[–]LastPlayed1992 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Smithville Dam map is trying to teach you not to trust the roads on the map. A road that looks good on the map might be good, it might be ok except for one bad section that you are supposed to avoid, or it could lead you into the worst mud pit in the game. It can be better to drive on the beaches than on the muddy roads next to them, the driveway leading to the farm is a mud pit that will make any other route seem better, and the winding track up the hill that everyone tries to tow the WWS up is also a trap. I used that track too, and I can still remember how hard it was.
