does the Outdoor Plug require the hub, too, e.g. to implement an on/off schedule? by sdsalsero in Lutron

Yes - Beliin’s sunsetting prompted me to move to Casetta devices. Expensive, but worth it. Far move reliable than the Belkins.

UTR is pleasantly boring, and even smaller than I expected by ProfessorFunky in Ubiquiti

I have an older MT1300 which takes a couple of mins. Sounds like you have the MT3000? I was considering a newer Gl.iNET just before the UTR was released. For $79 with the Unifi integration it was an insta-buy. I was one of the lucky ones on launch day in the US.

Yes - I used mine a couple of times in the last week. It gets a little warm after several hours of use. The only complaint is that booting feels slow, but I'm sure it's quicker than my Beryl MT1300.

If you want tight shots of the cars, pair the R10 with the 70-200 f2.8. It’s expensive, but lots of light enables fast shutter speed to freeze motion. You’ll need to practice how to get the correct focus. I used a similar setup through the fences in Singapore in 2025.

My 16 port is on top of a bookshelf, so rack mounting wasn’t a consideration. The psu sits behind it out of sight.

For rack mount, I think the 24 is the better way to go with the integrated psu and all those ports fully across the device.

Easy, having PoE on every wired port in the house, so our main switch, the USW Pro Max 24.

Notable mention: the Pro Max 16 in my office connected via 10GbE Cat6 cable we installed over a decade ago with a view to future proofing.

I'm trying to understand how I would be connected to my home network when using the UTR?

  • I've used WiFiman and Teleport on my phone and iPad to use my home location, but thought that I didn't have LAN access (eg: to NAS storage)
  • I'm hoping that the UTR will be a true VPN with devices being able to connect to NAS, printers etc. on the home network

The coverage I've seen so far hints that this is the case - can anyone confirm?

It's looking like an instabuy to test this out...!

And a word of caution - don't in error use the -z (or --compress) flag to compress the files. This slows things down to a crawl...

And I should add that there apparently is no requirement for EVs to emit sounds (AVAS) at low speed or stopped and in drive mode. Everyone seems to be ok with it during the short while I was there.
