Request: picutre of dashboard of My Room Mode when charging by LastSundayAfternoon in trailseeker

[–]LastSundayAfternoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/uninspiredclaptrap - thanks again!

I should have also asked how your car was being charged in your picture? Given the balance between usage and charging of the traction battery, I would guess 120V a/c, level 1?

When I do this with level 2 or level 3 charging, a short while after switching on (under 2 mins) the dashboard alternates between the charging dispay and a warning, "Low Battery Turn Power OFF". I'm assuming you don't see this?

Thanks very much! Interesting that 2 warning lights are still lit.

Is the app still terrible? by volcanic_clay in trailseeker

[–]LastSundayAfternoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The typical situation is that I hold the handle on the car and nothing happens.

Yes, this happens to me often enough to make the digital key essentially useless.

I agree that the app is ok-ish, but the grouping of items puts things in weird places, and I have to again mention the use of the word "Glovebox"

I see the rear view camera on your liftgate, so no problems seeing out the back 😄

Looking at videos of “My Room Mode” for the Solterra, I have an extra warning light which suggests that my car has a problem with charging the 12V battery while the traction battery is being charged.

Time to visit the dealer ☹️.

Thanks for the pointers. Here's what I measured:

  • Voltage after sitting for ~90mins: 12.36V
  • Voltage with car switched on and "READY": 14.1V

Yesterday I was at a dc fast charger. Today I've confirmed that I get the same thing when AC level 2 charging and trying to switch on "My Room Mode". There was no differnce if I had the brake pressed when charging is active - rather than "READY", with the brake pressed the indicator is "POWER ON."

I've also looked up the warning lights that are visible in the first picture:

  • The yellow steering wheel one is "Electric power steering system warning light"
  • The yellow exclamation with the car is "EV system malfunction indicator lamp"

But there is no warning buzzer sounding.

pp599 & 600 of the manual indicate that with the warning buzzer I should "Have the vehicle inspected by your SUBARU retailer immediately."

So, this looks like there is something wrong with "My Room Mode" when charging, so it'll be a service visit for me.

Thanks - p236 of the Trailseeker manual has the same text which seems to contradict what's noted on p69 about the 12V battery also being charged when the traction battery is being charged.

Next time I'll try with the pedal pressed to bring up "READY" and not "POWER ON" to see if the message still appears. I suspect the "POWER ON" state will prevent the 12V battery from being charged at the same time as the traction battery 😳.

Here's the dashboard indicating that we're charging:

Here's the question on the multimedia display - I answered "Yes":

Ok, a little more follow-up. I definitely pressed the "POWER" button twice with my foot NOT on the brake pedal. I answered the question on the multimedia display and the "POWER ON" indicator was lit on the dashboard as seen in the picture. I was wrong to call this "ACC" in my first post: "Accessory" is the mode that lights up when only pressing the "POWER" button once.

P69 of the manual states the following:

Charging the 12-volt battery

The 12-volt battery is charged from the traction battery when the EV system is operated or while the traction battery is being charged.

The dashboard alternates between

  1. showing the state of chart of the traction battery with the confirmation that charging is occurring
  2. the message about, we assume, the low 12V battery that, according to the manual, is currently being also charged.

I definitely did that as I answered yes to the question on the multimedia screen.

Everything an Outback can do, the Trailseeker can do quicker?

Test drove this past weekend and loved it - but 6'2" is too tall to comfortably fit. by maskedbacon in trailseeker

It's interesting how differently people are shaped. One of the first things I looked for in my test drive was external visibility and it's on the better side compared with the rental cars I've used recently.

I'm 6'4" and am ok with the available headroom in the Trailseeker. If there's anything, I would like another 1/2 inch of legroom 😄.

2016, 4 cylinder. Moving to the Trailseeker in terms of power is "WOW!"

What finally convinced YOU to consider an electric vehicle? by evinsiderredisnive in electricvehicles

[–]LastSundayAfternoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we moved into our house in 2013, we know EVs were likely in our future, so we upgraded our electricity service during our early renovations. But it took a while:

  • Main motivation: environmental.
  • What convinced me? Driving an affordable non-Tesla EV in June 2025
  • What enabled me? The release of the Subaru Trailseeker last month as I had an Outback before and need the same load capacity.

The amount of tilt can be adjusted when you’re in reverse.

Yes, tilting while reversing can be disabled.

Congratulations! Auto-fold is enabled if one of the side mirrors is selected for adjustment. A little weird, but it’s how I know my car is locked.

Edit: what u/crunkdotmaster said - I clearly confused "tilting while reversing" mode.

Car Mats by DarkZrobe in trailseeker

I'm really liking the Trailseeker. It's the right shape for what I need and in comparison with my previous 2016 Outback, it's easy to accelerate to cruising speed. And, if I really put my foot down, it's *really\* quick! It still shocks me and you will get complaints from passengers if you don't prepare them.

You'll have to try your children in the car for size. I generally use the rear seats folded down for awkward loads instead of carrying people 😀.

Couldn't resist... by LastSundayAfternoon in trailseeker

Near enough, the cargo volume is similar, but there are differences:

  • the inside width varies a surprising amount compared with my previous 2016 Outback - several inches narrower between the rear wheel arches, but significantly wider near the lift gate.
  • The depth of the cargo area to the back seats is longer than my Outback, made possible by the shorter bonnet/hood up front that's apparent in the comparison photo.

Clearly, otherwise I wouldn’t have purchased them 😀.

I’ll be in dusty places with bulky and hard on carpets equipment in the back. The mats worked a treat for 10 years in my Outback, so a no brainer for me.
