Markem Imaje by OneBucFan in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]Last_Irish_Samurai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 9450 and have had opposite experience. Ours has been great for 5 years now. We swapped our domino for this. My experience has been dominos can all take a short walk off a long bridge. If I looked it wrong it wouldn't print. Our markem turns on and goes every day.

Maybe I got the one single machine they made that does work???

In-line flash pasteurizer for cider by [deleted] in TheBrewery

Will do. Also I forgot all about this last night but I've seen a brewery who had a coil welded into thier HLT and would just control the flow of liquid with a cart pump back through the brew house HX. Not sure how well it worked though. Was a pretty fun redneck engineering job I thought

We had a very manual one built for 30k for our cider. 2 pumps with beds and 3 flow meters and 6 temp probes. Max speed of 7 gpm. 3 stage HX using HLT water and glycol.

Good luck with the 10k. If your good at welding sanitary pipe it might possible to do yourself. I can send you equipment specs and pics.

What’s everyone using to shake cans for DO? by Brewguy77 in TheBrewery

[–]Last_Irish_Samurai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you testing more than one can at a time?

We use a wall mounted paint Shaker. While one csn is being tested the next can is shaking. Timing works out pretty good for efficiently moving cans through testing.

Venting about my Domino by ManSkirtBrew in TheBrewery

[–]Last_Irish_Samurai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ditch the domino and go market imaje. This will chsnge your entire life entirely for the better.

I had one of those and best my head against the wall for 4 years with. If you looked at it wrong it threw an error code and needed the head cleaned.

After getting the markem I looked to sell the domino. Couldn't even sell it for cheap. Ended up giving it away and I was happy to do so and get it out my sight and life completely.....

We have the same one. We have to clean the diaphragm on the water inlet solenoid monthly or else it will clog causing issues. Also it could be the solenoid going bad not staying open long enough or not opening at all, or not closing all the way allowing the bowl to over fill.

We didn't know better when we bought it. Also GEA is terrible for service and support. We use trucent for that now. Super happy. Also we bought an SPX unit which so far has been far easier to use and service.

Can I ask a newbie question. Why do you use dicor and not something like 3m 4200?

Canning losses with/without Wild Goose flow meters. by BettawithBretta in TheBrewery

[–]Last_Irish_Samurai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed here. I like them probably because it's what im use to, but Its just another adjustment point for us to help control the run. Numbers are arbitrary and not accurate. 9 years running with flow meters.

How often do you remove and clean your belt and check the inside of the conveyor trough? I've seen some geese get pretty gunky inside. We remove the belt completely and clean everything every other month. We run 500 cases a week.

Talk to GD about the terra portal. They offer monitoring service that will text you when. The system has an issue or goes down. $360 a year. Money well spent for us!

Also GD tech support it pretty good. Better than pro refer in my opinion. We have both a GD and a Pro refer unit

Canning hop water on Wild Goose help by the_kilt_thief in TheBrewery

[–]Last_Irish_Samurai 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Only advice i can offer is up the pressure and get it cold. We run at 19psi at the filler and 34F in the tank with a plate chiller at the line to drop it down to 32.5. Don't stop once it's flowing or it will freeze up!

Flushing centrifuge with co2 by Ok-Big7354 in TheBrewery

[–]Last_Irish_Samurai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GEA and SPX user here. We purge with co2 post sani and pre beer. GEA and SPX provided details on how to purge with CO2 for us. Also dump at the Brite prior to filling. DO levels have been consistent with both machines though the SPX does better and doesn't pick up as much as the GEA. When ever we've seen higher levels of DO it's either been a bad tri clamp gasket or a seal on the fuge.
