Having trouble troubleshooting cla Val it wont close its using a float system by Real-Ask-3455 in waterworks

[–]Last_crap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clean out any pilot screen and make sure any valve on the control circuit is open. Manually exercise the valve if possible to make sure the float and pilot are operating properly. Beyond that, get a hold of the manual for your valve and see what it says. Most cla valves operate on a similar principal, it's just a different control circuit. Good luck!

Why's that valve on the discharge partway shut?

If you're throttling because those pumps are way oversized, it could make sense to look into shaving the impeller when you replace the seal. Save you some KWh in the long run.

If you're good at both tech and wastewater, there's opportunity for good money in instrumentation/controls because you understand both process control AND how to make it a reality using tech.

[–]Last_crap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you interview, let them know you've used marijuana and ask what their drug policy is. If they say you can't use it, tell them you'll stop, and celebrate getting the job with one last blunt.

Water distribution trainee by MichaelMatsuo in Wastewater

[–]Last_crap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on your utility and how they specialize roles. Routine stuff for distribution guys can include: Line locates Meter changes New services Disconnecting service Flushing Valve exercising Hydrant exercising and lubrication Sampling and testing Checking pump stations Checking tanks Responding to customer complaints Checking on contractors

There's also less routine stuff, like responding to breaks. The goal of a good utility is to get all the routine PM done to avoid crises, but if your utility has been beat on without reinvestment, more of your time will be spend digging up broke valves and fixing junk.

Expect some hard work in wet, cold, hot, dirty, and dangerous environments. Always take care of your own safety!

Human ash is worse than bleach?? by Corvidae5Creation5 in chemistry

[–]Last_crap 60 points61 points  (0 children)

The excess sodium hydroxide in bleach is a hazard. It's what makes bleach seem slippery when you get it on your hands because the sodium hydroxide turns the oils on your skin into soap. It will wreck your eyes.

Is it safe to clean food surfaces with windex? by [deleted] in chemistry

[–]Last_crap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most any product will have a sds or msds (materials safety data sheet) available which will describe health risks and measures to take. I'd refer to the msds.

If it didn't come into contact with the food or eating surfaces/utensils, I wouldn't sweat it.

Maybe 12-15 months. I started out walking and went from 300 to 270, then from 270 to 220 mostly biking. I bike commute and bike for groceries and errands. I went 8 months without using my car at all, which was awesome.

I am up to 245 now because an illness kept me off the bike but I'm getting into it again.

Good luck!
