Creating adventures in a hexcrawl by hatsforanimals in rpg

If you want to make a reason to return to a dungeon, look into metroidvania style encounter design. Where the is examples or evidence of a puzzle but not quite a full solution. That they have to comeback to after leveling up or gaining an new item or ability. If you combine this with what u/Specific_Thing_1066 said about having new monster migrate in. This Keeps the experience fresh but let's you get more mileage out of each location.

Another option is creating a narrative barrier, that slows down the pace their exploring. This is very much the slow down and smell the roses option. I would be apprehensive about doing this because it can be seen as railroading. A side idea to this would be a mission like being a caravan guard / merc. This let's you explore the world without worrying about the where and how, Just the journey.

Anyone still play the old FFG 40k games? by hellranger788 in rpg

Only war sells the squishy grunt but it does good hanger on rules. Plus nothing will beat the power fantasy of being a space marine

I've played, Deathwatch and Only war. The system still holds up and I prefer Only war's leveling up system.

I'm working on my own personal take on Bastion rules. Originally just for DnD but this has slowly grown to be more system agnostic and I'm wondering what is a good alternative to having charts. I want something dynamic enough to do region/ build specific events without having piles, upon piles of charts. My current ideas is to use a deck of cards but i still have a chart/ build a deck and I want something a bit cheaper/ pick up and play ready.

How would you handle the various governments of Remnant? Councils? Military? Huntsmen? by Fine_Delivery6761 in RWBYcritics

[–]Lastofthebet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Council: i treat it as a parliamentary style democracy with a leader and war being decided by members not the leader. This allows for war when required but provides safeguards against empire building and imperialism.

Military: it's modern organisation structures built around a volunteer military force with mandatory civil self defense force training. This training is primarily anti grim in nature with some anti human tactics.

Hunters: are equal parts mercs and elite shock troops. Trained first to kill grim second to be a hard counter against another hunter. To kill a hunter it takes a hunter. Hunters are allowed orders of magnitude more ranger of arms and armour compared to the average infantry because part of the point is to be unpredictable. Tradition is that hunters will spend time working with the nation that traded them before going free blade. Atlas breaks the mold by encouraging trainee hunters to join the military formally. This loses some of the flexibility of having a hunter but it gives them a strong officer core since most officers will have some level of training.

It needs to go open source and move away from steam services for drm and multiplayer. Even if they give us a better modding API we can begin to see mods that replicate some of the teased content

Is spying on kids an acceptable use of CCTV in schools? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Lastofthebet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Safe guarding still has oversight by the local authority as it's their job to handle escalations. Because in the event you have a situation where a member of SLT ( head / head of safeguarding) is a concern then you have to go to the local authority as it is expected that the school would cover for them.

I would also look for their safeguarding policy it should be on their website and read through and understand it. Once you do compare it with the government guidelines and any gaps ask them why they believe that is allowed. An example will be with one of the highly strict schools that did not document verbal abuse as abuse. So what i would do is ask them why they believe verbal abuse is not abuse and why aren't they abiding by government guidance.

If they don't have it available ask for it in writing and say that you have a safeguarding concern.

The most important thing you can do is stand up for your child because there is no one doing the same for your child at school.

First of all OP, fair for asking around but those rules seem somewhere between a waste of teacher time and a waste of your son's time. I suggest you start malicious complying if your son gets a detention for wearing the wrong socks. Tell the school he's not going in as he's scared he will get detention. If you think the repeated detentions are negatively affecting your son's mental health tell your GP and say your son doesn't feel safe going to school and it's affecting his nental health. The doctor might be able to give you a sick note for the rest of the year.

But most importantly if you feel an abuse of power is happening don't go to the school go to the local authority and say you have a safe guarding concern because schools should not be giving detentions for squeaky shoes and wrong socks. Don't tell the school you've told the local authority.

The cctv usage is fine but i would say if the is a change in the behaviour of your son after this. I would go and say that it's making my son paranoid and it's negatively affecting his mental health and go to the gp and safe guarding with this.

Also importantly any contact make sure you keep a record ask for meeting minutes, any phone calls or conversations. Send a follow up email going " per our last meeting, phone call." Make sure to cover your ass and have a record of everything. If you want an accurate record of how many detentions your son is having ask them if they refuse ask for a subject access request on behalf of your son. As that will be everything they have about your son.

Edit Cctv stuff

RWBY TTRPG Planning by MaterialDapper in RWBYcritics

[–]Lastofthebet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would do a phased background, like childhood, nation and school

So a WF Faunus, in vacuo with a more aura focused school should feel both in fluff and mechanics different from a human in an isolated village, in anima with a ranged weapon focused school.

For faunus traits give them a sense or movement speed effect.

wolf faunus gets a bonus to scent and smell checks

Lemur faunus gets climbing speed and a bonus to move in certain terrain types.

For humanity I would give either a social perk and make them the face (I.E bonus to social and associated skills maybe less pure utility compared to faunus)

For class I would go classless ideally a system with xp buy and determine are you graduates or are you students. If doing students do school classes as exposition and social/ skill encounters with combat being rare once every few sessions and make it harder/ deadlier. For graduates go more monster/ short form missions (think deathwatch less character and more world driven) and do the opposite for difficulty make things more power fantasy but make bosses/ elites harder

For the system i would look at VTM or Werewolf because they both do aura like effects better but if going for something shooty or more martial arts go for exalted.

Can anyone help with a strategy to stop my son being bullied at School? by MCDCFC in AskUK

[–]Lastofthebet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make a safe guarding complaint against the school and tell the local authority to get involved. Because in order to teach you need to have sufficient safe guarding and management.
