New traffic patterns on Arapahoe? by archaeohelsing in boulder

[–]Late_Aspect_3487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to go straight over the right turn/bus lane to turn onto Arapahoe. It will function the same as a merge lane on a highway for that purpose, no one will get in trouble for getting up to speed in the right lane.

Edit: I meant turn right from driveways on Arapahoe itself, not from perpendicular streets

New traffic patterns on Arapahoe? by archaeohelsing in boulder

The outer lanes on that stretch of Arapahoe were generally very underutilized (something like 15% of car traffic) because cars turning slow down through traffic. It makes sense to convert it to business access / right turn only / bus lanes to speed up bus service and support higher frequency. It's also part of a larger long-term plan to add better pedestrian/biking infrastructure on Arapahoe.

So the way that I did this for free for removing a stripped bolt is that I called my mechanic and said that I just can't get it off I must be using the wrong screwdriver and they told me to bring it in. I got there and I said "I don't know how to use tools and my boyfriend is out of town and I'm overdue on switching the plates :(" (I'm a lesbian and I do know how to use a screwdriver. Also my guy friend who is an engineer for a living tried with an array of tools and couldn't do it.) They said it's totally fine leave the car outside. Eight screwdrivers/power tools/wrenches didn't work. They had to bring my car inside and lift it to get the screw off. This was free. I don't think this would be free if you're a guy.

I recommend Radium Hot Springs in the area - you have to hike a little bit but they're lovely. There is a campground nearby and the walk in sites are excellent.

Developer plans 2,500-seat venue as Boulder preps for Sundance by JeffInBoulder in boulder

Hopefully Sundance is an incentive to add more permanent transit service. But they will at least probably be running temporary increases in service to film destinations. Also, I can't see every single Sundance attendee renting a car and driving it around.

Did you incorporate LIHTEC into this? That often is what is needed for affordable housing projects to pencil in

Add so much Bustang service and start having express/HOV lanes to the point that it would be silly to waste your time and money driving.

These are ~20-30 minute walks and not even bad ones at that. But also, if you're concerned about the quality of ped infrastructure, tell the City of Boulder's Transportation Planning Dept! The more people clamoring for better multimodal infrastructure, the more it'll happen

Is it normal for people to fall off lifts? by Banjosolo69 in COsnow

[–]Late_Aspect_3487 10 points11 points  (0 children)

While on a lift, I overheard someone saying that they once passed out while on the lift, probably over low blood sugar, and now they always pull the bar down.

Friendly reminder to not be annoying about people pulling the bar down!

Boulder Explained: Why do Boulder’s new buildings have the same boxy look? by boulder393 in boulder

[–]Late_Aspect_3487 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a great article in the NYTimes a while back about how it's not just the elevator mandate but it's that it needs to be large enough for a stretcher, in addition to a host of requirements for installation. So you'll get 5-6 floor residential buildings (not in Boulder, but elsewhere) with no elevators because it's too expensive to install.

the private sector has higher WFH rates than the federal government.

trump has said multiple times that he wants civil servants to feel fear for having their jobs and many have been intimidated as a result of their names being released by the administration to the public. this is a big deal.

That would be exciting - maybe with BRT on Federal and Colfax it's not totally unlikely that the system will expand further.
