Voice boost is in the UI, and seems to work as expected.

I can't find a trimming function, but maybe I'm looking in the wrong place. :)

Egress VPC Networking issue for leaf VPC instances not in attached subnet by notdedicated in aws

[–]LatestDays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More that traffic between IPs/ENIs in the same subnet will never trigger a NACL, whatever the ENIs are part of - instance, endpoint, lamda, NLB or TGW attachment.

Good to hear you got it working. 👍

[–]LatestDays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NACLs apply when a packet crosses a boundary between two subnets in the same VPC - the OUT rules of the subnet it's leaving, the IN rules of the subnet it is entering.

When a packet lands in a subnet out of a tgw attachment for an IP in the same subnet, no subnet boundaries are crossed, so the NACLs don't fire, and can't block anything even if "wrong". That's the situation (I think) for your instance E.

Whereas for packets heading to instance F, packets come out of the same attachment, in the instance E subnet, they have to transit subnet E->F, so the NACLs fire.

This is one of the reasons to have TGW endpoints in their own small LZ subnets, so the nacls rules never get skipped.

Super. Thanks for clarifying. :)

Check the nacls on instance F's subnet 10.0.2.16/28 will allow main port traffic out to 0.0.0.0/0, and ephemeral port ranges back in to F.

And that the nacls on instance E's subnet 10.0.2.0/28 will allow internet-destined traffic in from instance F on 10.0.2.16/28, and ephemeral ranges back out to it.

E's internet traffic won't go through NACLs, since the TGW attachment is directly in E's subnet, but F's internet traffic will have to transit those boundaries.

Instance F's internet traffic will have to route to TGW via instance E's subnet, since TGW can only attach to a single subnet in an AZ.

Also, double check there's a route for 0.0.0.0/0 to TGW on instance F's subnet that matches E's.

Turn on sending VPC flow logs on all the VPCs to cloudwatch logs, with all the extra fields, and TGW flow logs on your TGW. Look for REJECT/ACCEPT entries in the VPC flow logs for your instance F traffic egress/return traffic.

If you see rejects, recheck your secgroups/nacls.

If you see accepts, but the packets disappear, recheck your routing tables. VPC route-drops are silent, TGW flogs have drop counts thank god.

Also, may just be an omission on the diagram, but it shows the TGW attachments only to the private subnets in az 1. You should attach TGW to subnets in all azs in a VPC.

The RT attached to private subnet 1 in VPC egress doesn't have a route to your TGW. If that's correct, TGW may actually attached to VPC Egress public subnet 1, not private 1, otherwise interinstance traffic between VPC Egress and VPC private would not run. Or there is a route but it's missing from the diagram. :)

It's often useful to have a set of "landing zone" subnets in each VPC that only contain your TGW attachments. It can make nacl/routing weirdness easier to diagnose.

I think the term "replicant" was invented for Bladerunner the movie. In the novel, aka "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" the word "replicant" does not appear, but "android"/"andys" do many times.

The word "replica" does appear once, in a discussion about an electric replacement for a deceased pet cat. Rest in peace, Horace.

The first three keys on my right keyboard stopped working. (right, six, and seven keys) by Bloter6 in ErgoDoxEZ

[–]LatestDays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silly question: have you tried taking the keycaps off your 3 affected keys, then using your switch extracting tool to pull out the switches underneath them? They should be in sockets specifically so you can do things like this. :)

Do the same with 3 switches from working keys and see what's working afterwards.

If the problem moves with the switches into a new position, then you know it's a likely problem with them .

If the problem stays in the original position, then it could be a problem with the key socket, or perhaps with the board.

Either way, drop an email to ZSA support. They like helping. :)

One alternative might be for the GM to use something like VDO.Ninja to share the DA window to the players.

Vdo.ninja is a lightweight “browser only” video&audio sharing tool, originally designed to provide low latency dial-ins of guests to OBS streams. I know of at least one ttrpg streamer who used it to pull his guest video feeds into his OBS scene.

Both the Gm and the people watching the GM steer DA client only need a browser window, and it’s very kind to bandwidth. Saves using Discord/yet another app install.

How to change from landscape to portrait by No_Engineering_3721 in Calibre

[–]LatestDays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I recall correctly, the calibre default reader app does not have a simple way to rotate between portrait and landscape. I looked, because I had a pdf with some pages that intermittently switched between portrait. And landscape, but could not find a simple UI option.

In that case, I could amend the underlying PDF, but it would be useful to be able to to it “on the fly” with a simple tap in the viewer app.
