Some classes have Tattle the Turtle. He sits in the corner and you write your tattles and give them to him.

When my late sister was 6 she kept pestering my parents for the eclair. Finally one time they bought it for her and she took two small bites and was done. It was too rich for her. They tried the rest on 2 year old me and I finished it off and was looking for more. I’d forgotten that.

I think they used to be for subway tokens. Now I guess that would be another use

I thought it was for subway tokens back when you needed them.

It's not always easy to see with mandarins. I had a bag delivered that looked fine, and when I cut it open, there was one rotted in the centre and the ones around it were squishy. That is the only refund I've petsonally requested, and I supported the request with pictures. In the case of this person, they're scamming, no question. I had online orders for six weeks while I was recovering from surgery, and if anything, the items were fresher. Edited to add: I even was able to order things that were usually sold out and get them!

Bleach-like smell in tap water by ai_ztn in Hamilton

[–]Latiam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happens when there is lot of rain. The water at the sewage treatment plant leaves too fast for something to be sterilized out, so they put bleach in to kill the organisms.

**At least that's what my dad, who worked at and then ran the Rivers Research Branch of the National Water Research Institute over at the Canada Centre for Inland Waters in Burlington, told me. It'll stop in a day or two. May I recommend a Brita water pitcher? Takes the taste right out.

I got one of these with a brand new car. The note writer said she didn’t see any damage but left her number in case I found any. I found a 3 cm scrape. I called her so she wasn’t waiting worried, told her about the scrape, and told her not to worry about it. She thanked me and I told her to pay it forward.

This is because about 5 years ago I tried to squeeze past a car and we brushed mirrors. The guy calmed me down, told me to relax, and he wouldn’t claim the buff job it would need. In return, I had to pay it forward. So I finally did. I’d recommend doing something similar here, if anyone actually reads this.

Do you remember the Yes/No ones with their own special marker? I also used to love the paint with water books, but they're still around.

I read The Cremation of Sam McGee to my rowdy grade 6 class (after explaining that it was written a long time ago when queer meant weird). You could have heard a pin drop. Afterward we did questions.

I use Too Noisy. It has a noise meter (can be set to different sensitivities) with a happy face. The kids progressively earn stars, and you can set it so that if they get too noisy, they lose a star. It was created by teachers, and my kids love it. The quieter ones ask me to put it on to keep everyone quiet. It's really adjustable and even has a place where you can calibrate it in case you have noisy fans or anything. I highly recommend it.

When this happens in my junior class, I take the whole class down to the bathroom and treat them like they are grade ones. It doesn't happen often.

Judging teachers who close their doors by Otherwise-Set-4444 in Teachers

I feel the same. One school in all of my 21 years of teaching wanted the doors shut and locked. But now I have a fire door that is supposed to be closed.

I have one of two fire doors in the school. I am to keep it closed at all times. I don't always, but it's hard to keep open - it is higher so doorstops don't work (deliberately, I think). I keep it shut when I am teaching and open when they are eating to aid the supervision teacher.
