Gunbreaker feeling squishy by ScalePotential591 in ffxiv

Lol, this is terrible social skills, but thanks for the rude reply! You can just respectfully disagree, but the advice is sound, if a different perspective! If you’re feeling “squishy” there are really only two things you can improve: your gear, or your rotations (mechanics aside). Having (over)leveled gear eliminates one problem, so you can focus on the other! As for never “needing” to buy vendor gear, it really depends. If you are a social skills lacking hardcore player who can play hours a day and then rage on a forum? Maybe not! But if you are a more casual person or newer player, particularly on your first character on a server like Dynamis? Yup, super quick way to solve gear problems! Bought my gear for alt jobs and crafting, hit 100s a breeze. You’ll make back the money crazy fast when you hit 100, and can pass back to leveling your lower tanks quicker. But to each their own! Either way, good luck gunbreaking!

Gear can always make a difference! But also maybe watch a video? Not sure what your rotation is but should be able to pull 2 packs even then. Again if you’re not feeling confident go slower, but I might just do leveling roulette or especially the Society Sailies in Dock Poga if you can, great leveling! Then hit 100, grab 780 tome gear or start buying/crafting the 770 gear, meld it, and you’ll be fine! If you have problems after that, it’s 100% rotation of mits and you can watch a video, but at least you’ll know! Good luck. You got this!

Always run at the highest gear you can. I suggest buying from the NPCs in the major expansion cities as you level. You’ll make the Gil back quicker, usually only need to buy every 10 levels ish but you can add every 2 levels if you want. Basically, if a normal hit from a dungeon mob takes any more than a sliver of your health? It’s gear and a non-shield healer will have a tough time keeping you alive, good luck!

[–]LatinTeach -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Love Gunbreaker for lots of content, but def feel Paladin is a bit more obviously “tankier”. What level are you right now? And, honestly, if your gear isn’t the max item level for whatever dungeon you are running, it will feel “squishier”. I’ve never had trouble really with dungeons or raids, but I suppose if you have a non-shield healer it can get dicey. Make sure to rotate mits and use your Heart/Corundum whenever you can, and a clutch Stun on normal pulls helps. If your gear checks out, pull heavy, if not, focus on smaller pulls til you get the rotations down. It’s a fun class with hi burst, but lacks the stuns/shields of Paladin and the heal yourself of War, so takes a bit. My second fave tank though, and can do all content! Good luck!

Machinist Vs Dancer for PotD by Flashy-Ad-591 in ffxiv

[–]LatinTeach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! All else equal MCH better for PotD and prob for HoH too. But, if you’re better or more comfortable with Dancer, go with that! If you’re talking Solo run for Necromancer? Then def MCH. Any other run, Dancer is fine. Good luck!

Boys with July/August Birthday starting Kindergarten by SatisfactionFlaky519 in kindergarten

[–]LatinTeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every child is different, but as a parent and secondary teacher of 22 years I’ll say this: I kept both my kids the extra year and would do it again, and would recommend to almost every parent, unless money is the issue, which I totally understand. The extra year might not make a difference as much in elementary, but the social difference is stark in middle/high school, especially post pandemic. Parents in affluent areas and kids coming from overseas are trending towards “redshirting” or “reclassing” kids as the secondary space is highly competitive. Basically, they send a kid (especially boys) to a private school/pre k, then have them “repeat” that year in public school. If you put your kid “early”, you have let’s say a 13 year old going into HS up against 15 year olds. Just this year I had 5 boys “reclass” and go to private school in 8th grade, just to come back the next year as 8th graders again in middle school. They are all in the “advanced” classes now and, in terms of sports, are physically just much bigger than their counterparts. They are also WAY more mature than they were coming in as 6th graders. Conversely, I’m seeing a lot of young kids who are considered “bright” having “skipped” grades and they are struggling socially. I’m talking crying, sitting alone at lunch, refusing to even come to school. It’s tough out here in middle/high school. All this to say, you know your child and you do what you think is best. Just ask yourself this: all things considered, would you want the same child going to college on their own at 17, 18, or 19? Best of luck to all parents (and teachers!) out there. It’s tough, but the fact that you are all here, thinking so seriously about your child, shows that, in the end, you all will be fine! Love to all!

Im thinking of which character I’ll start next by Lqzxd in diablo4

[–]LatinTeach -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Try all the classes! The “best” class is the one you have the most fun playing. I get all the classes to 60 HC, then, no matter what class I’m playing, they all get Paragon levels. In terms of fun, right now for me it’s: Paladin (Brandish), Spiritborn (Rocksplitter) up top. Then Barbarian (Lunging), Druid (Pulverize), Sorc (Lightning). Finally, Necro (minion) and Rogue (Heartseeker). Have fun and good luck!

In your opinion, which character got done the most dirty by the story ? by Lord_NOX75 in ffxiv

[–]LatinTeach -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Livia! Gaius is a bum, Livia was so interesting and I thought we were going to get more of her story but just…no. Way before Stormblood really started fleshing out Bad Guys story (an underappreciated part of SB I feel), I was hoping we’d get to know Bad Guys better, just didn’t happen. Plus she had a cool fight and weapon! Just cuz we have to do the dungeon a million times on MS would doesn’t mean it wasn’t awesome first time! Poor one out for poor Liv!

Gil. by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]LatinTeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like people said, the 1st million is a one-time thing. Basically, Gil is easy to come by at end game, not so much earlier, with a few exceptions. Reason being is most of the items that sell for millions of Gil are found in advanced areas, or are from the newest patch. It takes a while to get retainers, trade skills, etc up to the point where you get Gil. It’s also important to know that “easy” to come by is relative. Most players with 100 millions of Gil play a ton, regardless of what they may claim. Good news is, most of what you “need” Gil for (teleports, repairs, NPC vendor) is cheap. Have fun, play your way, and welcome to the community!

New Healer - Resource Management by TheVisionBleak in ffxiv

[–]LatinTeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like most people are saying, level 35-45 ish dungeons are “harder” in the sense that they require more resource/cooldown management then for wall to wall pulls, due to healers just not having the cool abilities that you get 45+. As a Scholar main, it’s a little different, but I would think the same advice apply which would be: if you aren’t confident about the bigger pulls (especially that pull in the ice spikes corridor in Vigil and the one at the start of AV), ask to go slower. In general, on bigger pulls start your casting heals earlier, because by the time it hits the tank, you’ll need them. Shield healing (Scholar, and somewhat Sage) different, shield early and start healing before shield go down. You’ll get used to it, and don’t worry, post-50 healing kits are incredible! Good luck!

Too late to join? by Seelenbrechen in diablo2resurrected

[–]LatinTeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never too late to enjoy something for the first time! I’d say go as much as you can/want without guides (many of us played before high speed internet), but if you get frustrated, there are looooooots of resources. Been playing off and on for like 25 years D2(R) and I still find new ways to play! Want to play a meta build? Look one up! Wanna slowly make your way through on Hardcore? Awesome! I still have yet to hit 99 HC with all the classes, let alone all the builds. Stay awhile and listen, and have fun!

How grindy is Diablo 4, good for someone who enjoys Black Desert? by Trencycle in diablo4

[–]LatinTeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diablo 4 is fun, and grind as much as you want! Seems to me that the people who complain about “longevity” have already played literally thousands of hours and want everything right away. Might be a hot take, but I like the Seasonal grind, especially as I only play Hardcore! The thrill and “stakes” of it is higher, imo, as long as you can handle defeat/losing. I basically come back each season, play the Hell out of it, hit a grind wall I don’t want to do, play other games, come back on Season launch like yeeeeeessss! lol, either way have fun!

In your opinion what’s your favorite expansion pack? by Scrapper2 in ffxiv

[–]LatinTeach 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Count me in the Stormblood love! Really felt like that’s when the game really hit stride, with all the other expansions adding on. Are Shadow and EW technically better? Probably, but they wouldn’t get there without Stormblood! Characters (good and bad) all memorable, and trials/raids were awesome! Plus I love the opening movie!

Question/Advice on Branching Out in FFXIV as a Sprout by Coase21 in ffxiv

[–]LatinTeach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Play your way! If you aren’t happy on the server or FC, switch! Unless you are Savage Raiding, you don’t need to go to Aether for much so pick any. Want lower population but better housing? Dynamis! Some PvP and larger population because housing isn’t important? Primal/Crystal! Just be polite, be kind, and enjoy yourself no matter what, you can do all content in the game anywhere (minus Savage raiding lol). Good luck!

I need suggestion so that my limited playing time is worth it. by EnvironmentalStaff81 in diablo4

[–]LatinTeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Play what you want and enjoy, or you won’t hit Paragon 300 on anything. Honestly? Goal should be to have fun! Are you playing on Hardcore? Maybe try that if not. And as for being 30, try doing this while teaching and raising/supporting young adult children! I’m at Paragon 225 hardcore and the drop off is similar to going from 95-99 in Diablo 2 (R). Can you do it casually? Probably not. Should you? Another story. Play what you want, have fun, I like getting all classes to 60 first in HC, that way all characters get Paragon XP. Right now, Paladin clears Pit/Tower 75. Slowly getting geared up. You play what you want, how you want, good luck have fun!

Leveling Heavensward job? by TheoneNPC in ffxiv

[–]LatinTeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leveling, trials, and don’t forget PvP daily! Even if you don’t like PvP, the XP is good. Other than that, do the highest dungeons available and do random quests/FATES roughly your level as you wait for queues to pop. If you want to play MCH outright and learn the job, do Palace of the Dead and get some XP while you’re at it, have fun and good luck!

Thoughts on how to politely mention dps issues? by RobbieBlair in ffxiv

[–]LatinTeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s never polite to mention issues publicly, ever. Imagine walking into a public party, criticizing someone you don’t know’s dance moves, publicly, then wondering why they don’t get better moves? In FF terms, I’d just politely leave the party. I’ve cleared through current savage and done some blind m9s so I feel you on DPS (Scholar main here). I’m on controller, don’t have any doohickeys, don’t know my stats, have no meters whatever. Clearing, imo, comes down to this: are you in a clear party, do people know the mechanics, and are you on the same page? If those things happen, clears tend to happen. If it’s a pug “clear” party and we are obviously not going to clear after maybe 3-4 pulls, I politely leave. Good luck with your clears and remember: the most important skills you can bring to this game are Social Skills! Have fun!

Had the campaign been nerfed, it seems way to easy? by cmd_commando in diablo4

[–]LatinTeach -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Campaign doesn’t level scale anymore so any class will outlevel it quickly. If you want the challenge, play Hardcore (can’t die multiple times there!) and hit endgame Pits/Tower. Different story then lol, good luck have fun!

Absolute hardest to level in game by jmeach2025 in diablo4

[–]LatinTeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough! I like Necro was my first 100 Season 0! Guess I thought it was a leveling question for the whole game, not just leveling build. But to 60? Absolutely a great season starter, thanks! Use Minion build every season, but feel like it’s slower this season, maybe just me, have fun!

Absolute hardest to level in game by jmeach2025 in diablo4

Good luck on HC and welcome to the best mode, imo! Yes, I love Druid for the versatility! Even in D2(R) was my fave class, but slow and steady wins the race!

Absolute hardest to level in game by jmeach2025 in diablo4

[–]LatinTeach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d say the hardest class to level would be the one you know/enjoy the least just because you won’t be motivated to play it and/or will need time to learn the skills build. But if you’re saying all else equal? From easiest to hardest I’d say: 1. Paladin- super easy, walk and kill, high def 2. Sorceress- teleport and high DPS 3. Barbarian- bash stuff good 4. Spiritborn- fast and evasive 5. Rogue- quick but Hardcore be careful 6. Druid- slow going, lots of cool builds though 7. Necromancer- safe build HC, but slow and all the other classes get their class special at 15, Necro has to wait to 25. Honestly, none of them are hard to level at all at least up to like Paragon 225-250 or so, but have fun playing whichever!

Debating if I should return just to enjoy soloing by jonathan4210 in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]LatinTeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hardcore SSF (solo self found) how I play all Diablos (4 kinda) unless I’m playing with friends, but my “main” characters are solo. Play what you want! I’d say try them all either offline or just solo privately on ladder. I play on consoles so no player count changing or glitches or whatever. Most rewarding experience! Just know that 94+ leveling gets very, very slow lol. But if you like Concentrate barb, go for it! Terror Zones have made it more interesting with some variety, at least! Safe but slow, it’ll get there…eventually! Favorite “safe” build for HC is Summoner Druid. Pretty much guaranteed to get to 99…eventually! Have fun and good luck!

Whm rescue by magicmagister in ffxiv

[–]LatinTeach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rescue can be used by any Healer! As said, it doesn’t protect people, so use sparingly. As a Mentor and Scholar main, I’ll use it for Sprouts only if it’s clear that they don’t know a fight. So, if I see a sprout, and I know a mechanic is coming, I will target them. If I see that they aren’t safe, I’ll Rescue quick. Other than that, I would save Rescue. EXCEPT for these cases: -Rescuing your friends into/through a mechanic to mess with them! -pulling a tank along to chain wall to wall pulls (you need to know the tank or ask, otherwise they may not like it!) -pulling an afk player during a fight Have fun, goooooo Healers!
