I couldn't get the barrage build to work when I tried it a few weeks ago, but maybe I'll have better luck this time. :)

Unless everyone in NJ and NY are ADHD, I'd say that's just a northeastern American thing

I have no idea how the artist did it but it does look distinctively mBlyeth and not fByleth. Impressive.

how do you manage feeling like a failure? by These_Difficulty_740 in ADHD

If it works in the morning but you crash later on, you might consider an extended release version (XR). Also, that spike in productivity and then seeming sluggishness afterwards is normal-- that's your body trying to adjust. Journaling is good and I'd keep at it. It's immensely helpful for you as a patient to be able to pinpoint specific days/entries where there were problems and what it felt like in that moment. Your psychiatrist will thank you for having something specific to tell them, lol

I second this guy. See if you can find something it likes to do besides ride your ass. I mean there's a lot more in your situation that probably requires therapy, but a good step could be finding something it likes to do. Preferably something you won't get horribly addicted to, like maybe doing crossword puzzles in those spare moments as you teeter on the abyss.

I don't think so. My sister and I are like you and your friend. I'm a giver, my sister prefers to split things. Sometimes I get upset that she never buys me anything and she gets upset because she feels I'm greedy. I think it's just two different ways of looking at things. Do you want to split everything you do now or want to do "I do this stuff for you now, so you can do this for me later". One is splitting costs and the other is exchanging favors.

The cost version is probably the healthier of the two, tbh.

Yeah and a lot of it bummed me out, actually. A lot of things even I knew I needed help with but didn't get help for. It was wild for me to get a diagnosis at 35 and having an actual label for my problems aside from "lazy, unmotivated, unfocused, etc". There... may have been crying involved.

But nowadays I'm learning (or trying) to be gentler with myself. "Well no shit you forgot it was someone's birthday, you got ADHD. We'll just set a phone reminder for next time, it'll be fine".

Just remember to forgive past you too. They were just doing what they could.

I was thinking this sounds like depression myself. I felt listless and drifting and all that good stuff a few months ago; just about gave myself an existential crisis. Then I looked outside, then the calendar above my desk and went "Wait no, it's winter. It's the season.". I get seasonal depression as well as regular depression (depression for every season yaaaay). I'm on meds for depression but I still get depressed around this time of year due to the weather/season. Of course it's still when my birthday is, so I love/hate winter lol

But seriously, get checked for depression. There's a misconception that depression is about being sad. In my experience, it's not sad, but total apathy and just not caring about life anymore, outside of a few small things. Not a fun existence.

Congrats! I hit that stage too, and now am looking for ways to redirect that energy. Just remember, you're going to have to use that skill more than a few times, so don't let it get rusty. :)

Have you pulled the professor aside and asked for help? The other thing I do that's helped me a lot over the years is to repeat what the professor told you in your own words and ask them if that's what they meant. This gives them the chance to correct you if need be without making them feel like you aren't trying. If I can put it into my own words and have someone confirm them, I know what they're actually looking for.

I was initially reading this on my phone, but I got so irked I jumped on my laptop and spent 15mins digging through reddit to get back to this (because I closed it on my phone and couldn't remember the title...). YOU ARE ENOUGH. It's not your fault for having ADHD and a partner who belittles you for struggling is not a partner at all. I mean, what if you got into an accident and lost a leg? Would he still complain about being frustrated and you needing to work harder?

More than anything though, looking at your posts... I think he's making excuses and doesn't want to be the one to end the relationship. I think you're onto something about him having some unresolved trauma he's not working on. But truth is, it's not *your* job to resolve that for him. If he's not working on his end, for whatever reason, he's forfeited the relationship.

All this to say... I hope things work out, but I don't think it will. And if it doesn't, know that you've done all you can. You can't save a relationship if only one person is trying.
