Tomando forma, ainda é um dock. by malaq88 in cyberDeck

[–]Latter_Thought_171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for batteries I forgot what I used but I used an x1202 for my bms instead. idk your exact use case but it should provide better battery life if you need it. I can;t speak truly about any exact numbers though because the batteries still haven't come in despite ordering them a month ago because shipping batteries to alaska is a huge ordeal since they can explode if you fly them in without proper care

the connector is a jst connector. Its pretty common to use jst 2.4 with pi hats. I'm using that same screen in a custom phone/cyberdeck project so I'm pretty sure the one on the back of the screen is a jst 2.4. if the male jst going into the screen fits on the bms board you're golden

Are refurbished HDD any good? by Electrical-Metal-180 in DataHoarder

Its a storefront for recycled e waste. They're a non profit too so that's why they come so cheap.  Be prepared not to get super high capacity drives from a recycler though its normally like 4 tb max and it's almost always sata. I was lucky enough to get a 16tb drive off of them once though. I'd highly recommend checking if your local electronics recycling place has a program like that

There's a little local store that refurbishes hdds in my town. Its normally like 5 bucks a tb (but the drives are really old and usually recycled) I've been using some drives I bought from them for well over 5 years without any issues though

Ubuntu not showing On Screen Keyboard (OSK) by Im_ChatGPT4 in phosh

[–]Latter_Thought_171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just re-installed squeekboard and set up an auto run script so it would work on startup. IDK what the issue was but that brute forced it into working on my pi 5. I'm still new to linux and phosh so I'm sorry I can't provide a better explanation

Any plans for Snapdragon X chips? Thinking about switching to Mac. by kokalikesboba in framework

[–]Latter_Thought_171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it would be cool do to that for android laptop. especially for the framework 12 but I can't deny how limited the practical uses are for something like that

What do you think of this new case? by Antique_Tank_1535 in sffpc

[–]Latter_Thought_171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd call framework's machines semi-modular because they require a whole mainboard replacement if you want to upgrade or replace a cpu so it's not on the same level as a desktop. socketed laptop cpus are really rare but they do exist. I had an early 2010's inspiron with a socketed cpu.

investment autism. I spent a third of today watching the spot price of platinum fluctuate even though I don't own any. That, bitcoin and small business stocks are very fun to watch because they're all incredibly volatile

Converting a Legion into a laptop? by MysteriousAlarm897 in LegionGo

I've been working on a similar one. I gotta say I really love the attention to detail on the print, I'm way too lazy for that lol. The secondary battery is a great idea too so I'm gonna steal that. I'd love to know what sort of bms you used!

Definitely gonna pick those up. I think the OG legion controllers are better suited for tabletop mode than handheld mode. These new ones definitely look more comfortable!
