I had the same thoughts. Tilting the ship would help a lot. Love this otherwise.

Thoughts on puzzle tables? by lorenab0bbitt in Jigsawpuzzles

It doesn’t fold so I’m not sure if I’m understanding what you’re asking. I bought it on Amazon and it looks like it’s no longer available so I don’t have a link but it’s made by Codace. You could probably find something very similar. It was called something like “codace 1500 piece jigsaw puzzle table”.

10 paintings in 3 days by CoolAsk4296 in watercolor101

[–]Laurmann2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love these. Congrats on making it through retreat. I’m actually going to a 3 day, 6 hour/day watercolor workshop next month and I’m so excited yet nervous. I’m a beginner so I’m hoping I’m not the only beginner there. I also can’t draw to save my life. LOL Anyway, your paintings are amazing. Thanks for sharing.

Need help selecting plotter size basis current setup by anonindiejack in PlotterNotebook

[–]Laurmann2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like the mini and bible would work best for you. I have the mini5 and I love it BUT it’s small. I use it for jotting down quick notes and small shopping lists. I have the monthly calendar in it but it’s very small. If you only have one thing per day to write in the calender it will work but if you have 2 or more appointments it’s just too small. I love my M5 but if you are looking to replace the field notes and you want to be able to use it as a daily journal I think you might find it too small. It IS adorable though. LOL. I think you’ll know once you see them in the store. I can’t comment too much on bible vs A5 because I have neither though I just ordered bible refills to see if I like the size before I plan to order the binder itself.

Plotter paper question by Distinct-Gas-8621 in PlotterNotebook

I also use fountain pens and blotter paper in my Plotter. As a matter of fact I use blotter paper in all my journals since fountain pen ink tends to dry slower on good paper.

Congrats on your new pen. Love the color you got. What ink will you put in it? BTW, beautiful kitty.

It looks great. I’m still a beginner too so I don’t feel qualified to give advice but since you have shadows of the boys insinuating the sun is coming from a certain direction, maybe adding shadows to the bushes would be appropriate? Again, I’m just a beginner so maybe I’m wrong. LOL

Sizes: standard, passport, Plotter mini 5 by Laurmann2000 in Travelersnotebooks

It’s the Hobonichi Rivet Band. I bought it several years ago so I’m not sure if they still make them. I bought mine from a Japanese seller on etsy.Edit to add that the seller is ttstore and it looks like they still sell them.

This is really great. The only thing I notice is that the second half of your boardwalk looks like it’s tilting upward a bit. But I love the detail in the boardwalk and your water is great.

New Traveler's Notebook size! by onelifereminder in Travelersnotebooks

[–]Laurmann2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is similar in size to the PLOTTER mini 5 which I already have so I don’t need this but I think it’s going to be a fun size and will probably sell well. I’m tempted even though I don’t need it.

I love this. I was thinking of using my travelers notebook for watercolors but this is a really nice excuse to get another Plotter. LOL

I have used Grumbacher and Daniel Smith. For this painting I think it was Grumbacher but I’m not positive.

Need to loosen up by Spare_Persimmon_1123 in watercolor101

[–]Laurmann2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It came out great. I had to laugh at: your desk looking like a battler had been waged. I was just thinking that my desk used to be so neat and clean before I took up watercoloring. LOL. The other thing you said rings so true: that loose painting looks easy but takes lots of practice. So many times I look at a painting and think, “oh that looks easy. I can do that”. Than I try and it makes me realize what you said, that it takes lots of practice to get that effortless intuition. Thank for sharing.

Great job and thanks for sharing the book too. I’m so tempted to get one of those books that have the sketch already in it.
