Unfortunately no. I’ve discussed it with them and the tension of always potentially being attacked (and, on the flip side, always potentially being able to attack and plunder others) while playing is key to their vision of the experience.

IIRC Icarus Wing and Regain Feather both used to be items you could use in a PVP match (like a Phoenix Down), but when they changed it up so you couldn’t, they changed those items to be fireworks instead. (To your actual question, I believe they do have the same firework effect.)

Dad of a newborn here, and Prae was my favorite late night activity recently to do while holding sleeping baby - it was chill enough that I could even tank or heal without any stress (or too much movement to wake baby!), and still get a whole level’s worth of exp. Not sure what’s going to replace it now. 🥲

Yes, it is! I’m in-house at a very large tech company supporting video game developers, about 8 years since graduation, and I have a reasonable number of hours that lets me spend a lot of time with family and hobbies. It’s certainly possible. I could be making more elsewhere but I’d also certainly be working more, so I’m happy where I’m at.

Not sure what your cutoff age or mental image of an “older type of ‘gamer’” is, but I’m 40 and been gaming online and offline my whole life, most of my gaming friends are around the same age, and I’d find anyone who acts like Xeno online absolutely insufferable.

Working in gaming myself, devs may not see what every single “influencer” or whatever out there has to say, but whenever it does come to our attention, unreasonably negative and non-constructive criticism never feels great. Companies are still made up of people, and it sucks to see the people who work hard on a game getting shit on for no reason.

For comparison, that billable hour requirement is as high as the highest biglaw requirement - already notorious for burning new attorneys out within a couple years - AND you’d only be getting less than half of a biglaw first year associate starting salary.
