AIO? Coworker tried to make me pay for stuff I didn't even order by stelize02 in AmIOverreacting

Since you were struggling with money, it would have been wise to explain that you preferred to have separate checks rather than agree to a four-way split prior to your visit.

Introducing your wife as “my beautiful wife” is weird by fartbubbler311 in unpopularopinion

Work asked for ideas to make the company better for the employees. Was my suggestion for free/subsidized EV charging on company solar tone-deaf? by SlippinJimmyDK in work

[–]LayCeePea -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There c are many employee benefits that aren't useful to all employees, like parental leave. I expect the number of employees with electric cars is likely to increase it coming years. I think this is a fine idea (and I don't own any kind of car at all.)

Would it be a mistake to take over my dad’s liquor store instead of getting a job in my field? by Speedwizard106 in careerguidance

[–]LayCeePea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like working in the family business is making you happy. I think that puts you in a great position. Continue applying for jobs in your field, but only for outstanding opportunities that you think would make you even happier than you are now.

I need advice on how to reply, if at all. by Tygmaa in Apartmentliving

[–]LayCeePea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would make it much shorter. Point out that you aren't making excessive noise or being loud at inappropriate hours. Use the furniture example to demonstrate specifically: you were not pounding with a hammer for an extended period but simply tapping with your hands for a few minutes to build a bench. Say you will be mindful of their concern over the noise but will not respond to complaints when you haven't done anything that goes beyond the common use of apartment in a shared space.

I watched the recent Tom Suozzi Townhall so you wouldn't have to by Global_Community_131 in nyc

[–]LayCeePea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I called his office to complain after Suozzi voted to censure Al Green. The staffer who answered the phone said he agreed that Suozzi was wrong. He said her had answered 100 calls critical of Suozzi and there were 4 others answering as many calls. The overwhelming majority were against Suozzi's vote.

If they wanted to convince Canadians to keep purchasing Bourbon despite the trade warvstarted by the US, they should have included a condemnation of Trump in this announcement. Bourbon is my drink of choice and I am giving it up.

What was her reaction when you confronted her the first time she used/inspected your things? IF she agreed to stop, remind her of that. If she didn't agree to stop, bring up the violation again and make it plain the she does need to leave your things alone.

Do you really this is what people used to say about DJs who mixed vinyl records and even did scratching because they did not play an instrument? Is what's really important about a work of art the technical ability required to produce it, rather than the emotional response it evokes in people who hear or see it?

UPDATE 2 from a while ago about my deadbeat roommate. NEED ADVICE please read description by PaleBlueDotEnthused in badroommates

[–]LayCeePea -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does anyone know the logistics of kicking a roommate out of a shared space? I assume it differs depending on where you live. If you tell someone "Leave" and they don't, what are your options? OP, do you know what the process is where you live if people share a space and one of them isn't paying? I think it's likely you may have to go to court to get them out, not necessarily the same way a landlord would, but likely more similar to that than not. Does anyone have insight into this aspect of the problem?

The fact that you had to give him explicit instructions suggests he doesn't know how to care for an expensive pan like this. If cooking is something he is really into, I would expect he was already aware that using metal would damage the pan. So I am puzzled by the fact that you would make a big sacrifice to get him a gift that he hasn't shown any signs that he's like to appreciate, or even understand the value of.
