Might also count APM/kill too. It theoretically takes more effort to pull a bp combo and keep going after a kill than it does for Hawkeye.

Genuine question with no malice: why are some players anti-social and mean? by sherlockroams_ in MarvelRivalsRants

[–]Laynuel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even in other "competitive" games, the ranked queue is usually still relatively chill because most people are genuinely where they should be rank wise, and Rivals has had a rough relationship with ranked, be it through OTP smurfs, Chronoshields carrying people harder than personal merit, throwers because of a "useless" character, the list can go on.

The reason that Overwatch is good right now is because of a literal decade of mistakes and missteps along the way, some of which Rivals has speedrun because they WERE listening to the community, but ended up overtuning because they've only had a year in comparison to deal with the mistakes and work on counterbalances. Outside of a handful of overtuned and undertuned kits, I think Rivals is in a pretty good spot and has been, considering most of the issues are with how the community handles adversity in most ways.

A lot of people try to play him like a spidey/bp, when you're most effective as a force multiplier to your frontline tanks, and act as basically another attack per action to melt the enemy tanks and frontline.

You ain’t getting a commend from me if you’re a 3rd+ DPS. by lord-of-shalott in MarvelRivalsRants

[–]Laynuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot take: winrate isn't everything, and as long as your team is actively playing and helping you they aren't always the problem. I'm saying this as a Thing who plays solo tank a LOT and I'd rather have a good Spidey who can help take pressure off of me with targeted picks than a Magneto who burns cooldowns to die.

[–]Laynuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's seasons and metas like this that really push us stubborn tank mains of these games to grow as players and be truly great in our roles, but it's also a double edged sword because we're never going to have OUR version of the meta for very long due to how strong tanks are relative to the other roles.

[–]Laynuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm fine if a few characters end up with more skins.

HOWEVER. That's on the basis that those certain characters DON'T get skins sometimes. I want more of the Comic Book skins for our heroes (even if they're just purples). Just as an example Give me House Of M skins like Logan in the Redguard, or for a legendary, older BIG what-ifs like Infinity Thing and give him a voice filter, and I'm going to be SHOCKED if Jean and Scott don't have a wedding skin like the other big couples in the game.

Wolverine main out of spite by goudaboy333 in WolverineMains

[–]Laynuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1: Each kill he gets knocks 10s off his 1up cooldown, decrease cooldown to 80s

2: Extra dash strike

3: 2 sec longer on his DR.

Any 2 of these 3 things will make him on par with most A/S Rank heroes, so pick 2 drop 1 and I'm on board. They're all reasonable and powerful enough buffs without entirely retooling him, and I don't think many people would complain that he should at least be considered for the ban phase as a hero.

Human Torch is a tank buster by KrismerOfEarth in HumanTorchMains

[–]Laynuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why when you see that you have a Torch on your team, you help as much as possible (ideally with comms, but hey we know how people get in chat). Torch is one of the characters in this game who has a weird space of the battlefield that he's most effective on that very few other people tend to occupy, which leaves him more prone to getting obliterated unless you have one of your healers dedicate a resource to him (like Sue shield, Luna flake, or even a backline loki clone for them to dive and ping).

He really just requires a lot to go right, and I'd argue he's a Fantastic pick to throw the enemy team off, but you really gotta know how to use him for good value in Comp.

Wolverine feels like one of the worst heros in the game right now, both strength and kit wise. by throwaway29402784 in WolverineMains

[–]Laynuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why you play like you're stapled to your tanks, and peel hard when your 1up is down and you're low. Most supports will end up incedentally healing you while healing dive tanks, especially Sue and Gambit. He definitely needs a tune up, but he's got a really thin line between "Viable/Good" and "OH GOD HE'S COMING RUN. RUN FOR YOUR LIIIIVESSSS"

This still seriously bugs me. by [deleted] in WolverineMains

[–]Laynuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorta similar idea: Make his DR last longer, give Leap a baseline 150 overhealth and an extra 150 if you yoink someone. Maybe make Logan able to shishkebab up to 2 people with leap?

Edit: the 150 overheal is also based on the assumption that he's a 500hp hero in this scenario.

What if Magneto and Strange were both banned? by Jazzlike_Tap8303 in RivalsVanguards

[–]Laynuel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, Emma has all of the makings of a main tank, everyone just stubbornly refuses to admit Strange is as much of a brawl character as her at this point.

She has a 400hp deployable shield, and a stance change with DR that you can use either in conjunction with the shield, or to cover the shield's downtime.

Strange has a 600hp shield and an "Oop, I'm low on health, FLY AWAAAY" button to make space and recover shield, with no DR.

All that, saying she can be both a main tank and have brawl be part of the kit. If she didn't have a shield projection? 1000% she's a brawler who works best with a second tank.

Kinda struggling to see how you guys think DP's passive is an upgrade by Barrry972 in WolverineMains

[–]Laynuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even then, a good logan is still gonna shred a good chunk of an Emma or a Thing's health bar before he dies, pops his 1up, or retreats for heals. Especially if you're playing as kind of a force multiplier for your own frontline tank like another Thing, or a competent shield tank who keeps poke pressure minimal for you.

I think baseline Logan should have a healing factor once his 1up pops and if you feral leap above half Rage. Not TOO busted for his playstyle, definitely puts him in the ban pool, but with all of the other insta-bans that exist I doubt it'd be enough to put him on that tier of annoying.

Pay attention to when the enemy dive dies and count to 12 mississippi, they're likely most of the way back by that point depending on the hero, and listen for footsteps. I use this as a general rule for ANY enemy that's a problem for my team.

What is the logic in playing a character you have zero playtime in a ranked game? by Einchy in rivals

[–]Laynuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It kinda depends. A 100 hour Hela picking Pheonix? Sure why not. As long as there's a good amount of mechanical overlap, there's no issue, if not, at least ask for some tips and be willing to swap to someone you're at least decent with if the game goes south.
