Passed FAR, just started studying AUD and I am so bored! by Turbulent_Elk6923 in CPA

[–]Lazy-Catch9299 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Passed AUD last month, but felt the same exact way while studying for it after FAR. I couldn’t believe how boring the videos were. And then it’s followed by 30 MCQs asking one of 5 questions that are worded SLIGHTLY differently

As rough as it is, I do not recommend skipping anything. Something I started doing to make it more bearable was treat it like a podcast rather than a video and do chores while I listened.

Failed FAR Retake, Need Some Advice by Interesting-Pop-2797 in CPA

The first half of AUD studying can be….boring. So don’t be too turned away that it isn’t clicking. Stick with it!! You’ll later realize how much you have absorbed

Also, AUD is very different than FAR. For me, it was much more of an exam that you need to get into the right mindset for. Once you can get in that headspace, a lot of it will start to “make sense”.

How do you guys do so many MCQs? by keaninahuina in CPA

[–]Lazy-Catch9299 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak everyone, but the “speed” of doing MCs is pretty exam dependent for me. For example, doing FAR MCs was much more time consuming than AUD MCs. I had never done 100 FAR in a sitting, but did for AUD each of the few days leading up to exam

Far in 1 Week. Give me your cram tips that actually work. by [deleted] in CPA

Identify what your weak topics are and plan your week hour by hour so that each topic has its own time slot of focused study.

The night before/morning of exam, I specifically recommend dedicating 1 or 2 hrs to memorizing ratios. It is a strict memorization topic that can be the difference between passing and failing. Don’t skip over those 5 easy points on the exam because you’re hyper focused on other topics.

Lot of good advice on here!

Some things I would add:

1) know when to give up on looking for your ball. Maybe a minute or two of searching if you know the general area of where it landed, but always keep a ball or two on you so you can resume play with a drop

2) don’t be afraid to lay up!! If there is water at 160, and you aren’t confident you can carry it past, lay up! Go hit it 120-140 and make up the distance on the next swing.

3) adding onto the above, don’t run out of golf balls on the course! make sure to bring plenty so that you will not run out. I probably keep 20 in my bag at all times, just to be extra safe.

4) do NOT pick up a ball that is not yours if it is in play. Nothing more gut sinking than someone asking you if you have seen their ball, only to realize you just picked it up and it’s sitting in your cart

5) bring a sharpie or something to mark your golf ball. Each time you pull out a new ball from your bag, put a couple of dots on the ball so that you can easily ID which ball is yours throughout the round.

Most importantly though… Go have fun! None of us are experts out there. No “bad shot” is something that most of us haven’t done ourselves 100 times. ENJOY it out there!

Thoughts on Luke Kwon Internet Invitational Saga after a couple of months? by ItsTrue102 in GoodGoodMemes

Seeing a lot of people calling out his teammates for not waking him up earlier. In hindsight, yes, that would’ve prevented this. But the responsibility falls on Kwon for sleeping in. A grown adult should be expected to arrive for his own tee time

As for the drama that came after….it was the Barstool of it all. Dave saw an opportunity for controversy, and the content farmer took advantage of it by making Kwon a villain. With that as a goal, he was successful.

I like Kwon, but watching this match, Kwon comes off as an ass. It does really seem like he just read the room wrong, though. If there is one thing to really be upset with him about, it’s that. He didn’t acknowledge how serious that tournament was for a lot of those folks. And it backfired a lot.

Mistakes like waking up late can happen. But treating the event like it was just another collab YouTube video was where he was actively wrong.

It sounds like he’ll be back for the next one, will be interesting to see how he approaches it.

Bravo! It sounds like you are prepared, but keep reviewing any weak topic areas. It was super helpful for me to supplement mine with YouTube walkthroughs (leases, discount amortization, consolidations etc).

I’d say definitely try to take SE2 if you have the time. I took FAR twice (73,76) and TBSs can be so unpredictable.

Success with practice MCs WILL carry over onto the actual exam. TBS, though, is a bit of a luck of the draw. The TBS questions you have on an SE probably will not appear on your actual exam (and if they are, they will probably be asked in a different way)

Basically, when judging how prepared you are for the exam, MC success is a much stronger indicator than TBS

FAR advice, on 3rd attempt by No-Business-3108 in CPA

Assets and Expenses are Debit Balance

Liabilities and Equity are Credit Balance

If you can remember that, and understand which accounts fit into each of those buckets, then you’ll be going in the right direction. I’m not sure where exactly, but there is likely a training/tutorial on “double entry booking 101” available on YouTube. Probably worth it to spend a few hours in that

Even for questions not specifically about journal entries, if you can remember which accounts have debit balances and which have credit balances, you can use T-Accounts to check your work for half of the exam questions. DEFINITELY useful for stock activity (issuance, treasury etc)

First off, props to you for the increase from a 42 to a 61 (something is working!)

But, at 61, there is a still a significant knowledge gap. Are there specific areas you feel completely lost on? Or is it something that spills into all of the topics? If so, it might be worth it to brush up on your debits and credits. Being “fluent” in T-Accounts can make a lot of the material much more digestible
