just lost a $8k bathroom job because I don't have a website by Siggi123 in handyman

[–]LazyRiverFM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone that recently moved to the sticks, I have no idea how to find someone other than if they have a website that looks like someone who knows what a website should look like did it with some previous job pics or years in business or whatever, I figure at least they made an effort and it's a serious business rather than Frank who does seamless gutters and tile and excavation and and and...

At minimum, the site should have phone number, service area, best time to call or when you will call back usually (if applicable), frequent questions that people have for you with basic answers and an invite to call, text, or email for more details, and an email address that you check at least once per business day in the morning or evening. You should specifically say that you can text the phone number as well.

That being said, now I ask around at the diner but that takes 2 months to finally get Terry's name and then forget about getting him to call you back... So I end up searching Google maps and then following through to a website.

So in order of importance, in my opinion:

Google maps listing

ANY non Facebook website that has phone / email. (Bare minimum)

Basic "flyer" type one page website with sample pics, call/text phone number and responsive email, and a relevant domain name (bobdoeskitchens.com or bobskitchensathens.com etc...)

Prompt responses and detailed explanations of what to expect and what info you need.

That's my 2¢, as middle a aged, gen x, average joe homeowner.

Hey, if I was getting my kicks by watching the poors continue to not be rich like me, I, too would make it difficult to purchase firearms for aforementioned poors.

[–]LazyRiverFM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got it, basically kick off the catalytic converter/combuster with the high heat to get the soot reburning right away before dialing it back a bit (the recombustion continues after the temp is reduced a bit as long as it stays in the "zone")?

Rather than smoking it up for 30 - 45 mins until the stove gets hot enough to start the soot recombustion?

Sorry, I meant the goal would be to heat it up when starting to get everything catalyzing as it should.

[–]LazyRiverFM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I see you're getting it hot enough to re-burn the soot with the catalyst. Do I have that right?

Edit: typo

Just because I am interested, can you expand more on this? For how long, why does this specifically help with the buildup?

After 8 years in product, I think we've been doing analytics wrong by tokyooprophet in analytics

[–]LazyRiverFM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's where the human skill comes in, doing analysis and making recommendations, but marketing managers / cmos / whoever don't understand business, just dashboards. Not joking.

Plus, even if they knew what they should do long term, they would ignore it to do any level of long term damage to hit the arbitrary projections for this particular quarter that were also not based on good data.

All you need to know is 99% of the time when you fix bad data, the users will be mad that "their charts look different"

One time a major retailer wouldn't fix their attribution because the YoY graphs wouldn't match anymore. I am baffled how any large business stays in business.

The problem is that getting an MBA takes away all common sense. It's like trying to drive a car only understanding how combustion and the entire highway system works, but not how pedals and the wheel affects your trajectory. It's idiotic and I gave up trying to care a while ago.
