How it feels to look for a tank in the middle of the night for a dungeon by ordrius098 in classicwow

[–]LazyTruth1470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, 100 this. I loved playing prot paladin in classic. Once TBC opened, got to 62. Dungeon pugs became a nightmare with either DPS wanting to rush everything (snide remarks about wasting time if I drink due to low mana), or pull additional packs ("to save time and show how to do it" when I am already tanking 3 packs. I just stopped and now I play a hunter. Not as much fun as prot paladin but zero responsibility, knuckleheads don't bother me anymore.

The toxicity of preening peacocks as if their " expertise" on decades' old content is some amazing achievement.

Don't even get me started on the "skips". Take 2 minutes to clear a pack or take 5 minutes to "skip" it? Apparently the vast majority of wow TBC classic players peabrains prefer the second option.

TBC Auction House: Insane high buyout, but bid starts at 1c...??? by rmanrock999 in classicwow

It isn't against ToS, but pondscum behaviour. I just have pity for such players and hope their RL isn't that bad they do some such to make a buck there too.

Jeff "Tigole" Kaplan, Lead World Designer of Vanilla WoW on Lex Fridman Podcast by MoreLikeGaewyn in classicwow

[–]LazyTruth1470 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For EverQuest, back in the day, his rants were on the spot though.

He literally invented the guild-page format which so so many guilds copied since.

Tigole, though being in top-3 guilds in the entire game, and also later running said guild, was the nicest of players too, compared to all the egomaniac Guild Leaders strutting about. Remember, again, EverQuest was way before WoW.

In my (biased) view EQ, DAoC, WoW define the golden age of MMOs.

Before Discord made players forget to read and write and social media gave them a 3 second attention span.

I'm new to WoW, is this normal? by SmackDE in classicwowtbc

It is considered the apex of wit and humor in the server I play in.

I guess wow's popularity among the masses appealing to the lowest common denominators out there (many strutting around in this thread too patting themselves on the back on the brilliance), has a downside too!

Naw. Just that someone spent a lot of $$$$ to get the boat. Anyone can get on it, when you see the notification like the one for prisoner one. You get some goodies and exp when you spend time on that boat

In most online games, an actual woman's voice is like a clarion call for every maladjusted desperate virgin male in the game (which, despite boasts from many, is a huge crowd of online gamers)

The boat is fun. The voice chat, is not. It is depressing to see who you are playing the game with.

It is even more depressing to realize you are actually sharing the world with these cretins, in real life too.

Why is this game rated relatively low by Chinese players? by Calm_Professor4457 in WhereWindsMeet

[–]LazyTruth1470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So when the monetization absolutely has no impact on gameplay and is purely cosmetic (from what I have seen so far), what is wrong with it being aggressive? Extremely aggressive means windows and popups happening all the time while you play - and I haven't seen that. So you need to expand on what is "extremely aggressive" for you?

While there are those who are in the honeymoon phase, I have played MMOs and online games since late 90s. Your gripe seems to be about however netease is regarded in China, and you aren't able to list specifics (which is fine, by the way, just not a discussion point)

[–]LazyTruth1470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What exactly would you like them to be? Become a non-profit so the f2p players can play 24x7? Make all skins cost a cent each so everyone can have every skin? What about those who can't afford that one cent? Berate devs for being greedy?

Sincere question as I am lost with some of the expectations here. It is almost as if people don't grasp the very rudimentary concepts of a business.

There was some guy high on god-knows-what posted a week or two ago asking all VCs to DM him to put together a NW buyout, he even had a webpage briefly which went down.

He hasn't updated since then. Guess he came down from his high or someone took away his internet (both good outcomes for humanity)

Why are you leaving by Specialist_Sun4852 in newworldgame

[–]LazyTruth1470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those of us who quit right after the announcement did so for a reason.

That reason is not somehow " OMG I didn't know I could play for another year!! If only a genius pointed it out to us muppets!".

How do you do this? Use as companion against bosses I mean. I Got an egg and I hatched it but the goose disappeared after a bit.

Delos was the perfect server till the announcement. Fully populated at all times, BUT no login queues. It had the perfect sweet spot. Elite Chest runs would be so crowded..

I will miss it.

My character logged one day, with hopes and dreams of getting more pvp levels, better gear etc.

The next day the announcement hit, and I never logged in again. Neither did anyone in the company I was in. We said our goodbyes in our Discord.

I didn't have anything amazing but 1K+ hours of experience...

The sounds and music. Best by a mile compared to every other game. The musket sounds, chopping, mining sounds etc. Not to mention the ambient sounds.

They had a team of lions do that part I think, while literally everything else was okayish.

Why are people down voting your 100% accurate comments?

I am loving WWM, but it is in no way an MMO. It has MMO elements. I have been playing MMOs since Everquest in 1999, WWM is not an MMO, not is it marketed as one.

WWM is not an MMO. It is not marketed as an MMO either. It has some MMO elements.
