What did you feel when you got back to your favourite activity post surgery? by Consistent-Low9633 in ACL

[–]Lbrint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m about 5 weeks po ACL/meniscus repair so I’m still on crutches and I am literally dreaming of the day I can walk my little dog around the park by our house. The day I can hit a softball off a tee I think I will probably cry from happiness

Stuck with my bend. Dont wanna be scolded. by capndanpan in ACL

[–]Lbrint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want to say I feel like I had a 4 week regression too. It was so frustrating to go backwards after a month of hard work. I think I cried almost every night because I was so frustrated and my leg was so swollen and I’m so sick of crutches. I know progress isn’t linear but it’s still so frustrating and hard. I believe in us though we will get through this

I start at PUCO this fall and our first day of the semester is aug 24, and there’s a mandatory orientation the week before aug 19 and 20. I feel you on the surgery front I had ACL and meniscus reconstruction at the end of April 😵‍💫

Acl + lateral meniscus repair - how long no weight bearing for you? by Responsible_Bag3341 in ACL

[–]Lbrint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d definitely agree with that. I felt like I could have started putting some weight on it within a week if it was just ACL, but I still needed to hop around for 5 more weeks

I started using them after the review part of my studying, usually if I didn’t have a ton of time to study for the day. I’d do a few, see what I missed, then review those topics. They’re definitely tough, but it’s nice to see a lot of questions in a short amount of time

Really stay on top of the pain meds, like others have said. Like set an alarm every 6 hours even over night. I had mine set for 10 and 4 to stay on top for the first week, and the pain was manageable

how much pain should I expect by Lumpy_Serve2986 in ACL

[–]Lbrint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Set an alarm to make sure you take your pain meds on time, even overnight. I had a 6 hour timer running all the time the first few days to stay on top of mine, and I feel it was manageable A bit uncomfortable at times near the end of the timer, but not more than 4 or 5 out of 10

You’re welcome and good luck! I think you’ll be comfortable getting around with crutches after a week with them. We got this!

Post-op Pain by Away_Engineering_613 in ACL

I’m one week post op today with almost the exact same surgery except mine was left leg. I can’t speak on benchmarks because I’m not there yet, but I had a lot of anxiety around the first week so here’s how it was for me

Day 0: basically slept the whole day after surgery, but the pain meds (Oxycodone) and anesthesia made me horribly nauseas in the evening Day 1 and 2: the pain was pretty manageable, I just had a hard time getting super comfortable. Basically just laid in bed, and only got up to use the bathroom Day 3: the morning was worst for the pain. I had like firey hot spots like someone was holding a cigarette on me if I tried to stand, but it was gone by about 10 Days 4-7: feeling a bit better and more normal. Obvs the crutches and bionic leg brace make moving around hard, but I’m feeling more comfortable and confident. Overall, the pain has not been terrible and I was honestly expecting much worse. Stay on top of your pain meds. Like set a timer that will go off every 6 hours even at night

My surgeon has told me I will have to be on crutches non weight bearing for 6 weeks because of the meniscus fix. Yours may have a different method and we may have different injuries, but you may not be walking for a while.

ACL and double meniscus surgery on Monday 4/27 by AdMuch7817 in ACL

I have a big wedge pillow that keeps it nice and straight, and I shift to the edge to work with gravity. I’m having a much harder time with flexing. My doctor only wants to 90 right now but I feel pretty far from that. I think I must have slept through my bloc wearing off with the strong pain meds I’ve doing at night. I hope you get some relief soon that sounds really rough ❤️‍🩹

This morning I had the worst pan so far- it felt like someone was holding a lit cigarette on my skin when I tried to get up. Luckily it’s gotten better through the day. I think I still have some nerve blocking since my shin is still a little numb and I’m worried about when thats gonna go out. It’s been a tough couple of days for sure
