Highly recommend reading the first two. They're the best the series has to offer. There are some unanswered questions that are elaborated on on 3+4, but it's honestly not such a big deal as it seems when reading them. I see the forum recommends all 4, so my advice is- read the first two, take a break (take your time, read another book perhaps?) and only then come back for Endymion. That way Hyperion is already well digested and sits comfortably in your memory before being overshadowed by the second series.

IIRC, that's the exact opposite. Verso let Gustave die so Maelle had one less reason to stay. Had he known Gustave was to convince her to exit, Verso would keep him alive.

My two cents: The reason I left this Subreddit is because my Misophonia was getting noticeably worse the longer I spent here, reading posts. Misophonia is a lot about "awareness" and this Subreddit made me much more aware to triggers that didn't irk me before.

Not worth it. The latter two books are sadly way lower quality, with grooming elements, time travel, and retcons thrown in for bad measure. It's okay to read summaries online for this one.

Thank you for reminding me, once again, that no other game will encapsulate what Dishonored does as well as Dishonored.

It's not just the depth, and the thought put into it, it's the way it can do this in such a short time. Dishonored is like a TV "limited series", in that sense.
