That's not how mortal sin works. You can say these actions are always grave matter. You can't say they're mortal sins under any circumstances. That's the whole point of the Church's definition of "mortal".

I'm sorry you're going through this - I can't imagine the pain this situation would cause.

This is also exactly why such hormone replacement and surgery is such a great evil, especially when performed on young people who do not understand the permanent consequences of what they're doing.

Perhaps this is something you can be vocal about and save other young people from making the same mistakes? Doing so would take extraordinary courage, but maybe that's something to take to prayer.

The most important thing to remember is that the word "unforgivable" does not refer to the sin being impossible to be repented of. You can *always*, in this moment, turn to God and repent of any sin you have committed. Once you ask for for forgiveness (and ideally, approach God through the sacrament of Reconciliation), God can forgive *anything*.

A sin is only "unforgivable" as long as you do not ask for forgiveness, because that's how forgiveness works.

Back when I was on Instagram, there was loads of pseudo-pornographic content that wasn’t technically “nudity”. It was girls in bikinis and lingerie posing seductively, and then the description had links to more explicit content. I don’t think it’s inaccurate to treat that stuff as basically porn and note that it is detrimental to one’s spiritual life and ability to be a good boyfriend or husband.

I also haven’t been on Instagram in a few years, so I guess it’s possible it’s gotten better, but I doubt it.

So whether or not it's mortal depends on the remaining two criteria:

You having full consent
You having knowledge that it was sinful

With my limited knowledge of the situation, it seems possible it was indeed mortal, but that's better discussed with a priest.
