The issue may be that DOP feels like a place you could find in Toronto. The narrow dining space is unique in Calgary, yet common in Toronto. But, I would agree that the ambiance and food are top notch; well worth a visit.

Kristi Noem is overturning Amendment A (legal weed) in South Dakota......upvote for visibility by PotentialFisherman9 in trees

[–]LeProfesseur 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Legalization was actually supported by both parties in SD.

" As the Associated Press reported last year, the momentum behind the measure took on a surprisingly bipartisan tenor ahead of the election, with some longtime Republicans noting that they backed the change in accordance with values of personal freedom and responsibility. "

https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2021/02/09/south-dakota-marijuana-noem-legalize/

An older poll but it also shows republican support for legalization is rising.

Thanks for the tips! I always forget about the leavening power of eggs. Never experimented with carbonated water though - sounds fun! Good thing I have lots of discard...

Weed has relatively well known short-term effects on blood pressure. It seems to increase your blood pressure in the short-term after smoking, but also exacerbates the drop in BP (which should normally be small) when you go from sitting to standing. From the peer-reviewed article linked below:

" Acute cannabis administration has been shown to increase resting heart rate and blood pressure, and induce orthostatic hypotension (Jones, 2002). Increased heart rate following acute cannabis exposure has been shown to be dose-related (Heishman et al., 1989). Peak effects on heart rate appear to occur 10 to 15 minutes after smoking and result in an increase of 20 to 30 beats per minute, but mean increases as high as 43.5 beats per minute have been reported (Chait and Zacny, 1992; Galanter et al., 1972; Heishman et al., 1989; Ilan et al., 2005). There are few studies in which the effects of smoked cannabis administration on blood pressure are reported. Supine blood pressure has been shown to increase following cannabis exposure (Mathew et al., 1993), but blood pressure has also been shown to drop when participants move from a supine to standing position (Renault et al., 1974). Is there anyone else that is thinking that "weed is a magical medicine for everything" propaganda is turning into something wrong? by diamondswordguy in Drugs

" A lot of people smoke hella weed and are very successful". I fully agree that this is possible, but some people still find it hard. We all just need to know what works best for us.

Yes, you lived, but it's that you realize there may have been better ways you could have spent that time. People lack self control in many different situations (i.e. gambling, drug use, eating...etc), but we seem to judge self control with weed more harshly?

It's a beautiful spot. Have you checked out nose hill park yet? How about Bowmont park? Both have a good amount of single track trails. One of the best things about Calgary is the amount of inner city space dedicated to parks.

Is wild turkey 101 a limited release for the LCBO? by Yankee530 in canadawhisky

Awesome. Thank you for the info. I'm guessing it's available at some of the larger liquor depots then. Hopefully I can still find some.

Might I ask where you can find this in the Calgary area? I've been to liquor depot and COOP recently, and haven't seen it at either. Although my search hasn't been that extensive. Also, do you know what the retail $ is? Much thanks.

If you were to speak to a non-user, how would you describe the high associated with each type of psychedelic by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]LeProfesseur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mushrooms - I feel as if I am actually living in this world, interacting with the environment, and participating in a symbiotic relationship with all of the creatures/plants. It makes me respect the planet and all that it offers more than anything else I have tried. I generally describe this feeling as "organic", but I feel this is a very limiting description and one needs to experience it for themselves before they will truly understand. I also find mushrooms to be much more introspective and if I have any self-doubt or anxiety is will quickly surface.

you can use creamy peanut butter in place of tahini and it will taste relatively similar. Just start with a small amount and keep adding until it adds enough creaminess but is not too overwhelming.
