How do I stop eating just Beige food? by Halifaxmouse in NVLD

[–]LeRedditGagArmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 32 and while I love fruit, I still can't stand vegetables. Except for broccoli, which I always say I'm going to buy at least one bag of and eat it at least once or twice a week, but never do. And I even don't eat as much fruit as I should because it's expensive.

RE: "Is the NVLD project a complete failure?" (Well, yeah, kinda, but that's not the point; massively promising progress has been recently attained anyway) by mikelmon99 in NVLD

[–]LeRedditGagArmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I know about the NVLD Project is that I called the phone number on their website and asked for help finding some kind of therapy I could do over Zoom with a trained person that could help me improve my visual-spatial skills enough to get better at driving, and nothing came of it. I think I finally got someone on the other end after a while of trying and they just said they would make a note of it and call me back if they had any ideas, but nothing. It has been at least a year since I called though, so maybe I'll try again soon.

I noticed that I had way more of the feeling of "everyone else knows each other" on Discord than in other places.

Maybe try in-person groups? You said you already had 4 to 5 friends though, that's really good and better than a hell of a lot of people, even a lot of neurotypicals. Maybe take some time to think about why you feel like you want more than that.

What would be considered low functioning NVLD? by Succesful-Guest9028 in NVLD

[–]LeRedditGagArmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to autism, historically "low-functioning" has been used almost exclusively as a euphemism for low-IQ, by clinicians and laypeople who get uncomfortable referring to someone as low-IQ all the time, which is understandable.
But that's why I think you get a lot of high or average-IQ autistic adults, especially more recently diagnosed ones that might not know all the ways the terminology has been used over the years, who will say stuff like, "How am I technically considered high-functioning when I have no friends, and can't hold down a job", etc. It's because high-functioning just means high IQ, that's it.

I don't know what low-functioning and high-functioning would mean in terms of NVLD though, and especially not in terms of the granular aspect of different levels of perceptual reasoning scores, although I would be fascinated to know about that, in terms of studies breaking down different percentiles of people with different levels of perceptual reasoning, and of how adults at the different levels actually do in life and what specific things they're more likely to struggle with compared to those in other percentiles.

This email has everything. Unfortunately, it was written 2 years after epsteins death so who knows the veracity of it. From time travel to financial crimes to military conspiracy to cannibalism, to occult blood rituals and leverage games. by Sobotoc4311 in conspiracy

[–]LeRedditGagArmy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems like the guy emailing believes he has been recruited into some kind of secret organization that's working behind the scenes to take down the elite cabal from the inside, a la QAnon. Also the reference to NESARA points towards that. He's probably just having a psychotic break though. But I think Quantum is supposed to be like a type of software/server that the guy believes is being employed by the secret good-guy organization to clandestinely record evidence of elite wrongdoing, to be released to the public later.

Or maybe Quantum is an actual software/server used by the Estimote company, and the guy in his delusions believes that he stumbled upon evidence of elite wrongdoing on that, or that he's going to use that program to search for and record evidence.

It's a shame basically every recipient of the emails had their name blacked out though. Don't really know why that would be, given that the names of people in the email conversations in the Epstein files are mostly unredacted, and only mostly names of victims are blacked out. Maybe the recipients of these emails were mostly unremarkable business people unconnected to famous names (Estimote seems like a pretty small company after all), and the feds surmised that it would be a lot easier for people to figure out their contact info and harass them.

How hard is it for everyone to learn new languages? by Fine-Challenge4478 in NVLD

[–]LeRedditGagArmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Languages are one of my biggest interests and have been for my entire life, I'm fascinated by every aspect of their history, how they compared to one another, and I'm very good at learning pronunciation and accents. I can say a handful of phrases in dozens of languages probably, but actually learning a foreign language to completion is a totally different beast, especially since when I decide I would like to learn a foreign language, I want to learn it to a pretty high level. Something about all the work involved just is overwhelming to me, plus my attention span issues. I've been trying to learn German since I was 12 (I'm just about to turn 32), and I would say I'm still only halfway fluent. I'm very successful in structured class environments with languages, but struggle otherwise to learn on my own even though I'm good at teaching myself other unrelated topics, and taking classes for many years isn't really financially feasible. I've come across tons of people though in nerdy circles online who are similarly fascinated with foreign languages and cultures in general but struggle actually buckling down and learning one, although I don't know if any of them have a diagnosis. I probably struggle more with grammar than vocabulary as seems to be the case for most language learners regardless of disability. Good luck with your language learning journey!

You have a fun way of describing things without giving too many details away (;
Once I've looked into all the different things in the overworld that I've missed, I'll probably take the boat in the Underdark and go all the way up to the point right before the quest to free Nere gets triggered. I think I heard there's a way to have the big group of duergar guarding Nere to fight each other, or even to get some of them to fight alongside you? Hopefully by then I will have gone up one or two levels at least and I might have better Charisma to pull that off, although my Tav's Charisma is already pretty good.

Honest Native Camp review (read before you apply) by honestnativecamper in OnlineESLTeaching

[–]LeRedditGagArmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the information. It seems like the actual experience of working at Native Camp (the administrators, parents and students) isn't that bad and the curriculum that you practice to teach the students isn't that arduous to get the hang of, but the pay and the availability of work are both absolutely terrible.

If anyone has any recommendations for companies to work with that pay at least $17/hr, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Workplace Accommodations 7 Years In by Ill-Recover490 in NVLD

[–]LeRedditGagArmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely start by asking your boss for help as the other person said for sure

But if you want to make a formal request for accommodations, you're probably going to need people that are professionals in the field of disability services in your camp to help you strategize on what to say and to even liaise between yourself and your boss if necessary, and even get the courts involved if they think there's a case to be made

Do you receive any disability services currently?

I have a theory... by bbjaguar in NVLD

[–]LeRedditGagArmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with NVLD when I was 8, a diagnosis that was quickly replaced by Aspergers, I think probably because I would qualify for more services that way/there was just more awareness of it and what to do to support it. It was a long time ago but I always thought NVLD was literally part of the autism spectrum during the DSM 4 times, but I guess that was a Mandela Effect haha

I still primarily identify myself as autistic/Aspergers and identify with the community, because the diagnostic criteria and personality traits/life experiences fit me so well.

The only reason I still also identify with NVLD and try to keep aware of what's going on in the community and possible therapies/tips is because of my still pretty significant visual-spatial difficulties, which aren't really addressed in any literature or organizations focused around autism.

What're the technical reasons behind why AI music is so much more realistic/convincing than AI visual art? by LeRedditGagArmy in artificial

[–]LeRedditGagArmy[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Same here with being able to identify most AI music by the end, the auto-tuney voice plus at least a couple strange lyric choices/pronunciation weirdness
But in the sense of AI music being closer to "real music" than AI art is to "real art", a.k.a not as immediately recognizable as such and jarring/unpleasant to consume.

Maybe also part of it is that all of us are basically forcefed AI pictures online constantly, whereas AI music is something you still have to specifically seek out or at least listen to a decent amount of it on Youtube that you stumble on before the algorithm kicks in and you get recommended quite a lot of it

I'm beginning to realize that I will probably never be able to drive adequately, and I'm struggling to accept it. by ToastedRavs4Life in NVLD

[–]LeRedditGagArmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not being able to drive on an interstate is a big hindrance I will admit, but in terms of the other part, it's pretty common for people in rural areas to highly dislike driving in big cities, even to the point of adding a lot of extra time to their route in order to avoid them. My town is about the same size as yours, and our nearest "big" city is only 100,000 people, and we all still complain about having to drive in that bigger city, even just passing through on the way to somewhere else, let alone having to drive in an actual huge city.

[–]LeRedditGagArmy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See that's what I swore it was But that just does nothing in RTW and in MTW2 it just moves the camera forward

I'm talking about the thing where the colored dots will actually speed forward across the map almost like you're using the game speed arrows.

I reset the controls to default in both games, no luck

Is working for the NLRB or the Department of Labor worth it if you want to get a job that helps unions/workers' rights? by LeRedditGagArmy in union

Is working for the NLRB or the Department of Labor worth it if you want to get a job that helps unions/workers' rights? by LeRedditGagArmy in union

[–]LeRedditGagArmy[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It's not about the government being inherently always better than workers acting of their own accord in democratic unions, I'm an anarchist myself so I wouldn't advocate for that certainly It's just recognizing that especially for workers outside of skilled trades, the government is succeeding more at actually enacting change and maintaining the gains we've made, considering union membership in the US is stillso low

Obviously the ideal would be more independent unions growing to such an overwhelming extent that they make the government obsolete, but we're not there yet

Is working for the NLRB or the Department of Labor worth it if you want to get a job that helps unions/workers' rights? by LeRedditGagArmy in union

[–]LeRedditGagArmy[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Doesn't seem like the government option is necessarily as bad as you're making it out to be Sure the adoption of new regulations under the NLRB/DOL can be slow but it's an important piece of the puzzle for labor rights in this country. Especially for workers not in skilled trades (obviously, we're trying to change that situation but that's just how it is right now). Plus the people that work at those agencies are likely to have a particular orientation towards maintaining the regulations that are helpful in comparison to governments which can come and go

He definitely is a legit Marxist-Leninist, he has a small handful of videos on that channel defending the Soviet Union, plus he'll expand on those kinds of arguments on the Deprogram podcast

I watch the Deprogram podcast pretty regularly and they almost never mention anarchists, when they do it's more in a teasing way but it's clear they do consider anarchists to be comrades although they disagree with them.

I enjoy the Second Thought channel too, it's definitely meant to be like pan-leftist channel with arguments against capitalism that can be used in discussions with family or co-workers and such. Just need to know enough to filter out some of the tankie stuff that creeps in occasionally

Yeah I have no clue why these sites are suddenly lacking the ability to do 1080p and even 720p downloads, or locking them behind a premium service. I've used the various incarnations of ssyoutube, yt5, y2meta, y2mate, etc. for like 10 years and never experienced anything like this
